Bryan | 7 comments I'm fairly new to GoodReads, and I'm really new to this group...I think I have been a member for about 3 minutes now!

I'm still navigating my way through the site, so if anyone has any suggestions about cool stuff I may be missing please feel free to send it over.

Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!

Allison (The Allure of Books) (inconceivably) Welcome to the group! There is always a new topic to browse, and always someone suggesting a book that you will undoubtedly add to your to-be-read pile, and then it will grow to be just as out of control as everyone elses! Haha, its all highly addicting!

This is an awesomely managed group by our superb mod, Lori. I hope you won't find any problem in finding things that interst you. You might wanna try scrabble and other games. There're a lot of good books you might find in The Latest Splurge and What are you Reading threads.

Fiona (bookcoop) Welcome to TNBBC Bryan. I think this is one of the most, or more active groups in GR, someone is always saying something, or there's a new topic... or you can create a new topic if you want to talk about something such as a certain book.

There's lots of different groups out there depending one what you want for example if you're a history buff there'a group specifically for people who like history. If you like writing, same thing.

You can 'compare' books with people by going to people's profile and comparing what books they have. A good thing with friends or when someone friend you to find out what books you share and finding books that may interest you.

GR has caused me to buy and read a lot more different books and my reading habits have definitely improved! You'll want to read more because of this site.

Have you tried out the trivia game? It's quite addicting and time wasting. GR is good at making you WANT to read more but equally as good at preventing you from!

I think the best thing you can do really is just to explore, if you want to talk about books etc socialise in groups. If you want recommendations, or if you hate a book so much and need to rant about it... or love a book so much and want to rave about it - GR, TNBBC - this is the place.

Truer words were never spoken! I would be making a lot more progress on my TBR pile if I could just stay away from GR (and TNNBC - everytime I hit the refresh button I get sucked back in)!

Bryan | 7 comments WOW...thanks everyone for responding. I'm becoming addicted to the site very quickly.

Thanks for your great suggestions. I didnt even know you could play games on this site.

message 11: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (bookcoop) There's only one and it's quite fun - you can see what ones your friends have got right or wrong...

The only thing is that it says how many trivia questions you've done on your profile, which will also tell people how long you spend stuck at your computer playing the damned game...

message 12: by Jeane (new)

Jeane | 4891 comments hehe, it does Fiona....which makes it even worse the moment you realize how much time you spent on it...again.

Jeane | 4891 comments You know what is great of having people of allover the world in this group? Because of the time differences we all come on during different times and overlapse the times that others are online too and this way we never have huge gaps of no posts.
