The good news is that we are still apparently the only team that can win with dragons at this point.

I wasn't sure of what to think when i first started reading it. It started off a little slow but picked up. It definitely became a page turner though as suspense builds. There are parts of this book that will make you stop and think, wow this kind of stuff could be real. The characters are very interesting in their own way, each with their own sort of problem and unique personality.
I really loved this book. The characters were relatable and not overly angsty, but each with a unique personality that brought something new to the book (sweet main girl, silent somewhat jerky guy, cool nice guy, snarky mean girl, etc.) It felt kind of like the movie 'Girl Interrupted' but co-ed and with superpowers. The plot was straight forward (home for kids with "mental illness" where something else is obviously going on), but with some twists and turns along the way that I did not see coming.
Overall, I would say it's a great book, it's suspenseful, it has mystery mixed in and holds your attention at all times.

Shelf: Magic
I had gone back and forth for a while on whether to read this book because I wasn't sure if I would like it. I finally decided to try it since it was on the magic shelf and it was available as an audiobook. I ended up really liking the book! I was afraid I wouldn't like the main character, but I felt like her real desire and struggle to change made her likable. The only thing I didn't like was the swearing. I wish there had been a little less. But I loved the story and plan on reading the other books in the series.

I would give this 5 stars but some of the wise-cracking gets a little corny. They are funny books although I wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking for a cozy-type paranormal. I'm kind of worried that it's going to turn into an endless series of "who will she choose: Ryes or Swopes" (or maybe Donavan or Luther if those characters stick around). I loved who they picked to be her guardian. I was worried they would kill off a major character and keep them on as a ghost. I will definately keep reading this series.

Hoping for a dragon shelf call cause that will take the pressure off of reading really fast.
Everyone got their books picked and ready to go for the shelf announcement?

I'm going out Sat night but unless the shelf is posted late, I should see it before I go out. I won't be home really late. These are all either audio or kindle books for me so I can listen in the car and while doing other things.

Tiger Lily
4 stars
Completed: 8/31/12
I really enjoyed reading Tiger Lily because it gave me a whole new perspective on Peter Pan and was truly one of the best love stories I think I have ever read! It was magical and heartbreaking all at the same time and I did find myself with tears in my eyes and an ache in my heart because it really drove the nail home that love hurts and that not all stories have happy endings, and the guy/girl doesn't always get the one they want but instead have to settle for what life deals them.
At first I found it odd that although the book centers around Tiger Lily it is actually told by Tink but I soon realized that I don't believe this story would have been as great told any other way. It was incredible...

I'm really enjoying this series. The more I get to know the residents of Enchanted Village, the more I like them. This time Darcy is hired to clean out a house of a missing woman/hoarder and finds a body. She and her friends are soon snooping to figure out what happened all those years ago. I think the romance is going nice and slow (and no triangle in sight) and the characters of the town should lead to plenty of stories in the future. I also really enjoy the familiars.

I am going to be gone tomorrow evening and a good chunk of Sunday. I hope she posts it fairly early so I can get one started before or go out.
I'll also be gone a lot on Sunday. But I'll check as often as I can. If it's a winner for us: I'll really try to get my book finished before we go out on Sunday and get my review up. Then someone else can submit the shelf request if we all get them done.

Of course last weekend I had nothing much going and this weekend when there's a really good chance we could win: I am super busy.
If I have to I will stay up really late Sat night to finish.

review:
Well, I was expecting fluff and was surprised as this ran a bit deeper. Lucius and Jessica/Anastasia were betrothed at birth to end a vampire war. Baby Anastasia was left in the care of visiting Americans when her parents were killed and brought up as Jessica with no knowledge of vampire life. Lucius comes to her town her senior year to full the pact. There is normal teenage angst and some distractions as Lucius comes to terms with his family's plans and Jessica comes to terms with herself. The last third of the book is quite a bit darker than expected from the beginning, but good.
I really enjoyed the letters Lucius sent to his uncle as he was getting familiar with America and Jessica. I like that Jessica grew up and gained confidence. I did think it was a bit sexist that female vampires don't really become vampires until they are bitten. Overall this is really the story of two teenagers learning to be themselves despite their past.

Winning shelf for 3 teams. Was a good round we came close a few times

I'm kind of relieved. I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow. I could have read a good chunk of a book in the morning but I doubt I would have finished it tomorrow. I would hate to be the one to cost us the win.

I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure playing with you group of ladies and I hope we fall into groups together again! {{Huge Hugs}} We gave it our all! :)
