Book 6 in the Morganville Vampires series and I'm not bored yet! This was an enjoyable installment, it finally feels like the overall story arc is moving forward, lots of action in this one. I'm still liking Shane, I will be continuing with the series especially now things are really starting to heat up! :)

Dark Divine, Book 1 of Dark Divine series
Grace, Jude (her slightly older brother) and Daniel were childhood friends. Daniel is half werewolf with an abusive werewolf for a father and a human mother who did nothing to help her son. When Grace was 12, Daniel told Jude about his abusive father to relieve part of his pain and Grave finds out, tells their father but when the cops arrived, Daniel's father had already fled. Daniel stayed with Grace's family and learnt what love is but a year or so later, his mother returned to collect her son and moved to Oak Park. However when Daniel's father returned later and begged his mother to go with him, Daniel is abandoned once more. Some stuff happen in between and Grace is almost 17 when a new student is enrolled at her school and it turns out to be Daniel. He returned in order to find a cure to his curse and enlists Grace's father, a pastor, to help him.
It was refreshing that Grace and Daniel, actually had a past and it wasn't a love at first sight romance. I loved how Grace and Daniel actually KNOWS each other, though Grace had always had a crush on him at 12. They share a hobby which is to paint, which Daniel is much better at.
It was interesting that the wolf is like a separate part of the soul. The cure to the werewolf curse was that the person cursed has to be stabbed in the heart by the person he loves who also loves him while wolf form. Difficult considering that theres a twist, the cursed werewolf part of the person KNOWS that his beloved can kill and release his soul and will try to kill her (self-preservation for the wolf). So Daniel and Grace loves each other, but Daniel can't bear to tell Grace the truth knowing how much it would hurt her.
What was truly sad was the way Jude turned out. Daniel attacked Jude when he lost control of his wolf so Jude was infected. Jude had been going around town killing but without knowing that it was him doing the killing, as he loses the time when he loses control. Since Jude knew Daniel's secret, he thought it was Daniel all along. Jude had also blamed Daniel for attacking him so.... Well, anyways, so Jude realises and disappears at the end which leaves a good opening for the 2nd bk.
I loved the part where Grace's dad was talking about forgiveness, someone asked why this other person didn't deserve forgiveness, yet the Bible says that you must forgive, and he replied "We don't forgive people because they deserve it. We forgive them because they need it - because we need it." And then, the person asked why forgiving was so hard. Grace's dad said "Pride. This person has already wronged you in some way, and now you are the one who has to swallow your pride, give something up, in order to forgive him. In fact, the scriptures say that if you remain in your pride and choose not to forgive someone, then you are the one committing the greater sin." The more I thought about, the more I realised how true that sounded. Loved that part!
It was regretable that Don dies, even though he doesn't play that much of a part in the whole story. Don was the last of the Saint Moon family which a silver dagger was passed down to. Don wanted to be like his ancestors and be a hero, saving the world from monsters, protecting people just like his grandfather. Sadly, Don was mentally-challenged, alone in the world, with only his stories. He died protecting Grace, so I guess he ended up a hero in the end....
I rated it 4 and not 5 stars, since it was great, but if a few things didn't turn out that way, or didn't happen, it would've been even better. So some things didn't neccessarily NEEDED to turn out the way it did. I've gotta say, as a first in a series, it was actually pretty good, so I will be reading the 2nd book. I don't know why I put this one off for so long, but ahhh well, better late than never!

i was just typing n typing and then i went "post", saw how long it was and went "woah..."

are the reviews actually gna be read? i mean... howdya know peops aint jus copying and pasting?

You don't really but the only person you'd be cheating is yourself and your team I suppose. The whole point of the game is to have fun, read some books - supposedly we should have less books on our tbr at the end but I always have masses more because I find more from my team mates. Your team mates are going to read your books and we may ask you questions... Pop quiz style ;)

In that case, Julianne can tell me whether Nicki Glass is any good and Lady Jaye can tell me whether Gemma Doyle is worth reading seeing as I started reading a chapter of the latter and then stopped to read something else. So now both are on my tbr.

Usually when you get to book 10 in a series you are starting to lose interest but with this series it just keeps getting better! So much happened in this book that I could talk about but I do not want to spoil it for anyone who is yet to read it.
Lara has really changed things up and I can't wait to see what happens now. I wasn't disappointed in Chase's story in the slightest, in fact I think this is my favourite book in the series so far.

LOL! Remember there is a 9.5 too ;)

I'm just about done Graceling, I wasn't able to read yesterday so I will be finishing it tonight.

The Lost Saint, Book 2 of Dark Divine series
The second book is DEFINITELY more exciting than the first book. So in the last book, it ends with Grace being bitten and infected, Daniel is cured and Jude runs away.
Well, this book starts with Jude sneaking into Daniel's house while Daniel and Grace are out, calls Grace and tells her:
"They’re coming for you. You’re in danger. You’re all in danger. You can’t stop them. Don’t trust him. He makes you think you can trust him, but you can’t."
Ominous? Right! Sooo, who could it be?
Gabriel the pacifist werewolf who has helped Daniel control his wolf in the past arrives in town as the sub-pastor and new religious studies teacher. Yet Gabriel would rather let a monster be Alpha rather than fight as Beta for the position? He is insistent that Grace doesn't train her powers since in his 800 years of living, no one has not given in to their wolf and training her powers would not help with her control. But what if Grace is the exception?? - After all, she DID cure Daniel. But is Daniel REALLY cured?
What about the new character that comes onto the scene? Nathan Talbot, another werewolf, secretly offers to teach Grace about her powers so she could use them to help people after Daniel's stopped their training at Gabriel's advice. However, is Talbot all that he seems to be? What about that zing they feel between them? Rival love interest for Daniel? WOOOOHOOO!
Daniel and Grace's relationship drifts apart, but WHY? Suddenly there are secrets left and right, is it the new girl at school who seems to have developed an interest in Daniel? Or is it that Daniel's not as cured as he seemed? Or maybe it's the Talbot guy?
Finally, what happens when Caleb, Daniel's father returns? And what about Jude? WELL- you'll have to read the book to find out!

I am liking it.
I will read my paranormal YA book closer to Sunday and so will double up for two next week.

I really like that series, Ethan grew on me & I like Merit.
Janelea wrote: "oops its meant to say 21st, gahh forgot to change the copy and paste >__<"
I changed the date :)

I can certainly say that in my POV, there were only 2 good things. One was that Baby James didn't have to die when he was taken as hostage, I suppose even the author would feel bad if she did kill off the baby. And two, Daniel proposed to Grace.
WAYYY too many unnecessary deaths. Not to mention that MASSIVE cliffhanger that should not be at the end of a series!
Conclusion: Dark Divine turned out to be a DISAPPOINTMENT.

It's a shame you got spoiled, I really hate it when that happens. I came to love Ethan as a character, he showed a huge amount of growth over the books.
