Kathy How Lamott experienced a very up and down kind of life before finding her faith is very moving.

Ruby Hollyberry I'm not even Christian and I love her nonfiction. Some of her spiritual insights, especially from Operating Instructions, the first and most concentrated one, have helped me whole bunches! I just apply them to my own beliefs.

Erin Joy I always love reading a book that makes you feel like the author could sit down and have a real conversation over coffee. Anne has that talent in her writing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly there! I have often told my husband while reading her books, "I want to meet Anne!!"

Ruby Hollyberry Frankly I wouldn't want to meet her. She comes off as extremely nervous and hyper. But I have learned an awful lot from her about managing one's less attractive personality traits.

Jennifer From my notes while studying this book for my MFA at Converse College, I copied: p. 96-97 "it's so inspiring and such a relief when people find a way to bear the unbearable...that was heroic of her,...to refuse to pretend that you're doing well..."

I would still want to meet her. That wouldn't really bother me. I'm not hyper, but I'd probably be a bit nervous, too!
