John Leung | 43 comments This is my latest blog post.

Have you lost a loved one or a close friend lately? How did you deal with it? This is arguably the hardest blog post I've written to date ten days after the sudden passing of a close friend. You can read about my feelings and thoughts here: http://johnleungstories.ca/blog/sudde...

Patricia Kirk | 20 comments My latest blog at Getting it Write: No Beauty to Attract Us to Him

How well do pictures of Jesus depict him? Please stop by my blog and leave an opinion.

He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isaiah 53.2 (NIV)

Hi Abraham: Do you have a page where I can see your rules for accepting books for reviews?

Thanks.

I don't review books at the moment but rather write about what is going on with my writing life. At the moment I'm having a giveaway for a heart-shaped bottle pendant filled with beach glass (ends November 9, 2018).

Rose | Adventurous Bookworm (adventurousbookworm) I am a Christian teen with a passion for all things books. I love to volunteer at my library and help find the perfect book for someone to read.

My favorite genre is YA Christian Contemporary but I read all books within the Christian genre. I started this blog in November 2018 and have had a love of reading my whole life.

James Sanderson | 24 comments It seems that I have been seeking after my masterpiece ever since I was young. My friends thought I was weird because I read books at all. But to carry around those big works of classic literature was doubly weird.

I wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember. My father took a course on short story writing. That was priceless. I asked him so many questions about what he was working on and why that it wore him out, I'm sure. He wrote a story called 'Equals in Heaven'. It was a story about a white boxer and a black boxer going toe to toe in the ring. He read me parts of it. I thought it was the greatest story ever written.

I had great expectations then.

I'm older now. In my sixties. But I am still reaching for that high note, as they say in music. How about you?

message 1022: by Pat (new)

Pat Nichols I launched my writing career after I was eligible for social security. Now, I'm celebrating the launch of my debut novel and proving it's never too late to follow your dreams. Keep aiming for that high note.

message 1023: by Janet (new)

Janet Stobie (goodreadscomjanetstobie) | 8 comments Hi, I published my first book of short stories when I was in my early 60's. Since then I've written and published 2 short story collections, 3 children's books, 2 novels, and a worship resource. Yes, for sure aim for the high note. Writing is great fun, and...a lot of work once the first draft is finished. I've self-published all my books to date, and sold over a thousand of all but the two latest. They will be sold eventually. Now, I'm risking something new. I'm sending a children's story off to some traditional publishers. For me it's exciting and scary at the same time. They all say in their submission guidelines that If I don't hear anything in six months my story doesn't fit their agenda. I'm hoping the silence will be less painful than a rejection letter.

message 1024: by James (new)

James Sanderson | 24 comments The great philosopher Mediocrities once said, "Yeah, whatever. Six of one and half a dozen of the other." Later he wrote, "It's all good." Words we can live by. In fact, we can put it on a tee shirt: 'What are you lookin' at, I'm not doing' anything special."

WHAT ARE YOU PUSHING?

No matter how hard you push a mediocre book, it will still be mediocre. Whatever effort you put into writing such a book, it will not be improved. Stop wasting your time! Write something beautiful and great, and you won't need to push nearly so hard.

Stop wasting your talent. Your time and your talent are the only things you have been given. Don't trade them cheap.

James Sanderson | 24 comments When did I first encounter 'To Kill a Mockingbird'? I have often allowed the destinies of books to guide me, not my own destiny. By that I mean that when a book presents itself to me, I will undertake the reading and study of it. Who knows how the young people of today are going to be initiated into the mysteries of the destiny of books? Some will be, I suppose, and some won't. As it happens, I encountered 'Mockingbird' again with the release of 'Go Set a Watchman', also by author Harper Lee. http://jamesdanderson.blogspot.com

John Leung | 43 comments Hi everyone, hope your week was great and your day is awesome.

No matter how much or how many times we fail, Jesus is ready to love us and wants us to love Him back. Jesus' appearing by the Sea of Tiberias proved this, while I added my own thoughts and example about this on my latest blog post.

John Leung | 43 comments Hi everyone, I wrote and published this blog post on the weekend, but haven't shared it here with you. So here it is.

It's hard to change longstanding bad habits until someone reminds you that your actions are distracting or burdening others, instead of being supportive or edifying like a normal Christian. Here are my top three longstanding habits at church and the results of making changes.
