D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Hmm...title sounds familiar, but can't remember it exactly - Palmer was in quite a few comedies...

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I am getting worried now. Mermaid wasn't good enough so what can we expect? Jud, please delete my reference to electric sheep. How many words are left?

From what I remember of it, he was a surgeon, who was having an affair with a younger woman, but it was mostly in his head.

I don't understand Simon. There is only one entry for each person. The Mermaid was a bit of fun meant for Jud. Your electronic sheep haven't got a short circuit have they? or perhaps they have.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments More worried that if your entry is better than your Mermaid entry we don't stand a chance Pat

message 108: by Pat () (last edited Jun 16, 2012 03:34PM) (new)

Pat () | -245 comments There is no worry there Simon, it was written before the Mermaid and I'm still learning.

edit still learning. (I ain't been paid, honest)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments It's Sunday afternoon. Now is the time to listen to the music and get an entry in.
The winner will get an amazon voucher. Value =£1 x number of entrants. Within reason.

message 110: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I have friended you now Tim! Sorry it took a while but I have been away from home.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments If anyone wants to enter but is having difficulty sending jud a pm. Send it to me. I will add spelling and grammatical errors and forward it.

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Wow, a voucher! :)

Our kitty is very dismal at the moment, I know.

I'll add £1 per entrant from my pocket as well.

Ha! I'll be kicking myself if we get 1500 entries, won't I???

No problem. Entry sent :)

message 117: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Simon, I still have £15 of group funds from the last group book if you need voucher money.

We should invest it in property in Greece.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Don't leave the country Ignite!

Keep hold of the £15 for now if you don't mind. We might find a use for it when you launch the second book!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I've checked down the back of the sofa.

Does anyone still accept shillings?

message 121: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments How thrilling a shilling was in my yoof!

message 122: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments I broke a tooth on a sixpence once; it was in the Christmas pud! (very dangerous thing, Christmas pud...)

message 123: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Come on authors. Don't leave it to the amateurs.

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Authors like deadlines - so expect lots of entries Wednesday night ;)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments D.M. Andrews (GoodReads Author) wrote: "Authors like deadlines - so expect lots of entries Wednesday night ;)"

I think this is true!

message 126: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Mine is already in!

message 127: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I think 3 authors have entered. We had more last time (unless they are keeping schtum about it?)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Ignite wrote: "I think 3 authors have entered. We had more last time (unless they are keeping schtum about it?)"

200 words, darling? That barely covers the preface.

message 129: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I can think of a few authors who would have trouble keeping a sentence down to 200 words!
Oh, did I say that out loud?

message 130: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments My favourite kind!

Is Tai Chi supposed to calm the inner being Ignite?
Or is it the one where you hit each other with sticks? I get them muddled up.....

Giggle...

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I'm not sure what you mean about keeping sentences down to some minimum number, as if there were some written-in-stone magic maximum or optimum word count that best piqued the enjoyment of the reader, who probably likes to read the odd long sentence amidst a few of average length, and - if appropriate - a few short ones for dramatic effect so as to bring variety and richness to the pace and telling of the story.

:)

message 134: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments There you go! ;)

We do a form set called 'The Stick' - I'm also a whiz with nunchucks (rice flails) It's all about balance and inner peace (and whacking the bejasus out of your enemies!)

message 135: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I could so do with some bajasus whacking today.

(shut up Darren)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Somehow I had a hunch it was the hitting with sticks thing :)

message 137: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments We have 7 entries so far. So you wont be too out of pocket Patti :o)

Deadline is looming! Less than 36 hours now!

Midnight tomorrow

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Will you start a new thread with the entries Jud? Otherwise they will be too hard to find in this one!

message 139: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Come on authors. Surely it's not too hard!

message 140: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I shall do Simon :o)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I know :) = happy, :( = sad but what does :0) mean?
Happy with a big nose?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Has a cold but still happy? has been drinking too much?

message 143: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Happy clown :o)

message 144: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments What a shame more authors haven't risen to the challenge. Should be a piece of cake for them, and a bit of fun never hurt anyone.

message 145: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I find it a really enjoyable exercise. Much more enjoyable than press-ups!

message 146: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments It was an interesting exercise - first time I've done anything like that & probably pants as a result. Looking forward to reading what the "pros" made of it. :)

message 147: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Is there no one else interested? It's not just for authors anyone can join in :o)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Don't blame us authors. It can be a tough turnaround to write something up, get our editor on it, and then get it out to proof readers and back again all in such a short period ;)

message 149: by Tim (new)
