Mikki Well, since my insomnia has kicked in despite my glass of wine, I'm going to keep going with Pedro Paramo and who knows what else...

message 52: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Off to bed, maybe a little reading too.
Tomorrow I should get in 5 or 6 hours of listening to a book at work, and a few hours of reading after work. Hmmm...where to pick up tea...yes, Tudors has 32oz for $.99. Until then!

message 53: by Sue (new)

Sue I'm going to do a little more reading too before bed...now which book will it be?

message 54: by Mikki (new)

Mikki Sue, let's pick a day for reading The Street of Crocodiles. Anne wants to read it too.

message 55: by Sue (new)

Sue How about Wed or Thurs. Just not Tues if possible.

message 56: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go. I can't read or listen at work, so I'll be squeezing in a few more pages while communting. Maybe I'll have a 2 hour train delay like last week to help me out ;)

message 57: by Mikki (new)

Mikki Sue, Thursday sounds good!

Kat, have a good day and don't work too hard -- save your energy! :)

message 58: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Never fear Mikki - Mondays aren't meant for working hard ;-)

message 59: by Sue (new)

Sue Great Mikki, that way we can carryover if necessary, though hopefully it won't be.

message 60: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Just finished The Brown Fairy Book... was lovely.

Also found out that I can get The Green Fairy Book as an Audiobook, so now I'm listening to that to rest my eyes.

2 books so far, 4 cups of tea, and it's only 4:30pm

message 61: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Listening to The Green Fairybook... and the very first fairytale, The Blue Bird has a quote which is definitely going to give me a story idea some day.

"Tell me all that has happened. There must be a princess at the bottom of this."
"There are two." the king said wryly.

Otherwise, just started The Hobbit and finished the first chapter.

Doing better than I anticipated, since my nose is all blocked up since this morning.

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Standing in the work car park reading a few pages with a sneaky cigarette. The things I do for books.....and topplers ;)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4059 comments *sigh* Hey everyone! I'm not sure how great this toppler is going to be for me. I shifted to a different city last week and have too many things to wrap up.

I don't have an internet connection so looking here and chatting every few hours like I used to do in the earlier topplers won't be possible now.

I have a Kindle now so that and no internet connection should mean more reading but sadly it doesn't.

For one, I am working now and secondly even after work hours, I have a roommate who is averse to books and keeps yapping all the time and also needs someone to either listen to or yap back with her. *huge sigh* I am contemplating a nearby park in order to get away from her.

And then some more....I can't find green tea here, can you believe it?? Thankfully I had two cups of it at work and will be going scavenging for a pack again today.

I hope to find ways to read and drink (tea). ;)

Wednesday may be better for Anne, so we'll see.

Mikki Tajma wrote: "Hey, y'all!! I had a lot of writing to do today so I'm a little behind but I read Wharton very quickly. I think I'll read something old and something borrowed simultaneously."

Tajma, did you finish the book? If so, you need to put your daily points on the Toppler thread.
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9.... Put your totals there at the end of each day!

message 66: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11473 comments Finished Drowned Hopes in the wee (wee wee!) hours of the morning. I drank 12 eight ounce glasses of tea. 14 points

Starting the Thursday Next series (fluffier). Things should go more quickly with The Eyre Affair.

message 67: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Almost at 25% of The Hobbit, and 14% through The Green Fairy Book. Hopefully I'll finish The Hobbit before bed, if not I'll get to 25% of the fairy book.

That's terrible about the roommate, Pragya! I really hope she gets better at not yapping!

message 68: by Snoozie Suzie (last edited Jun 12, 2012 02:26AM) (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Just listening to a 'borrowed' The Call of the Wild whilst cleaning. Not been able to do any reading this morning as I took small out on the train - it was just that one stop on the train, a drink and a quick look around the charity shops for cheap toys(he found a digger and a roller for the grand total of £3.50). I refrained from looking at the adult books but bought him one and his cousin one. Now big has taken small out bowling so I can crack on!

218 pages for this book

Uh oh Beth. Do you not like it?"

Actually, I do...it's just taking me longer to read it than I'd like. It's really good, just not a quick read. And I can't put my finger on why, other than the kids are out of school...lol.

One of my favorite reads because of the imagery. Is it not holding your interest?

message 72: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments ... Mrs. Judy, ma'am... the first 24 hours aren't up yet! Still... 39.5 isn't close to the Tipplers yet.

Hmm... I'd keep reading, but I think I'm getting a slight fever. Off to the bathroom a bit, and then I'll write for 30 minutes and listen to my audiobook until the rest of the family decides to go to bed.

message 73: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments And since I think I can tell a good thing when I see one... I'll go edit my post. XD

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments To bed. Good luck everyone!

For my part I'll head down to the kitchen early tomorrow and get at least 3 tea bags, or at least a saucer to keep the old one in! There's just plain Yellow Label Lipton tea... but it serves its purpose, and I can't taste anything anyway.

It's difficult to explain...I think it's the jumping round in time. Plus other distractions, here...I keep getting excuses to stop and do something else...but at the same time, it's a good book. Weird, no? The imagery is great...love the secondary characters...I have a feeling in another 50 pages or so, it's going to grab me, then I'll race to the end. I did the same type thing with Outlander...struggled for the first 50-100 pages, not because it was bad, but just because I *did.* Then BAM...and couldn't put it down.

You sound overwhelmed Pragya. It's perfectly understandable considering that you've moved. I'm still feeling overwhelmed myself and I moved 2 months ago.

That was what I understood, yes. Otherwise I'd be down at the library looking for old books with blue covers ;)

I'm giving my all to work, expecially the part that's listening to a book :D

message 93: by Robin (new)

Robin | 263 comments Just caught up on this thread. I have finished the book I was reading on my Kindle so now I can start reading books for this toppler! Just not sure what to read! gah! I have two books I got from the library one is The Summer I Turned Pretty and the other is The Night CircusI'd like to read both this week, but I think it is unlikely that it will happen. Not sure if they will be a quick reads...What I really need to get my hands on is a James Patterson book. I fly through those, and I really need to read 11th Hour(hey look this version has a blue cover!) haha!

Judy, I liked it too and noticed that Maria did the same. I'm going to edit my post and keep updating so that there won't be 7 random posts from me, sound good?

message 97: by Maria (last edited Jun 11, 2012 04:19PM) (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments JUDY: Oh well. Was going to read Barack Obama's Inauguration Address-- short, sweet, and important.

But that's in January.

So I think I'll read one of the Kindle Daily Deals... depending on what's short and easy (I'll be needing short and easy).

message 98: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments I just went to the Toppler Update thread, and I love the fact that everyone there's stolen 'my' template, when actually I stole it from the Tipplers, modified it a bit...

And then went back this morning and modified it again. XD
