No angels in that book - dragons."

I know, but that new is a rank of angels, so I was hoping someone had categorized it as angels.

Ack! I had kinda done the same thing and saw that there were a bunch of shelves that could lead to Bingos, but I didn't do the math. 67% chance of a winning shelf next week...the number makes it way more real. Thanks for doing the math Rachel!

Not the best in the series in my opinion, but still good.

This is my fifth time playing and I don't think I've ever been close. Am starting to feel like a jinx, lol!

message 711: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vivian we should not be on a team together! Or wait -- maybe if all 3 of us were on a team next round that would be a guaranteed win! LOL.

I'd say I was happy for you, but .... LOL.

Team 1o started out strong with multiple 3 in a rows. But the last few shelf calls have been outliers and haven't managed to move us up to 4 in a row.

Good luck everyone and happy reading.

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Ya'll are too funny! This is my game and I have never won either. :/ LOL! ;)

I had a really hard time picking an angel book. I started/stopped several before settling on one that I didn't know even had angels in it: Blood Rights.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Finally get to read Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins for the buddy read and the Angels shelf Steph!

message 719: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments :D Yay! It really surprised me just how much I enjoyed it b/c the main character (chickie) is uber religious, which I am far from being myself. But, I really liked her personality and her relationship with her foster mom. I hope you and the other member(s) joining in the buddy read enjoy it!

message 720: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments Not that I'm looking ahead or anything, but paranormal fantasy or magic - would anyone win if one of those was chosen? Because if our luck holds, one of those will be up next because it will NOT give our team even four in a row...:-{

There are others that could be picked that would't give us four in a row, but I know they would give someone a bingo.

message 721: by Mary X (last edited Aug 14, 2012 09:14AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I went through the other day and these are the winning shelves: Male Lead, Reader's Choice, Dragons, Kick-Ass Heroine, New Series, New 2 U Author and Dark Fantasy.

I didn't look after angels was called so there might be more now with angels. But after the Series Catch-up shelf: 3 teams can win with Reader's Choice and 2 with Male-lead.

message 722: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Angels was a good shelf for several teams.

The winning shelves are now:

New 2 You Author
Male-Lead (3 teams)
Reader's Choice (3 teams)
dragons
Kick-ass heroine
new series
dark fantasy
sci-fi romance
paranormal romance
psychic

I think I spotted them all but no guarantees.

message 723: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Not sure if this has been answered before but it isn't clear in the game rules.
If a team has achieves bingo but has not read and reviewed all their books from the previous rounds, is it still considered a win?

message 724: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments It is considered a win if the required squares have been stamped.

If other books are outstanding but are not required to form bingo that is OK.

message 725: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments If I remember correctly, in one of the rounds I played before, the first time a winning shelf was called, the team that needed it did not get the bingo that week. They had to catch up on getting the stamps needed.

Happy Reading, Everyone!
:)

ETA: This IS a shelf. So, please check the link before assuming a book published in 2011 will be on it. Some GR peeps (like me) shelve books by year they read it, not just the year it was published. Cheers!

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Thanks for the update, Rachel! Looks like just a couple are left out of the 4-in-a-row so far. Next week should be a winning shelf announcement. I thought for sure this week's would be, so ya never know.

message 739: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Hi, BSBers! Each week the chances of a winning shelf announcement grow. Some players have been asking what's needed to win. So, I thought I'd take a minute to clarify. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

IN ORDER TO WIN a team must have FIVE stamps in a row (diagonally, horizontally, or vertically). A stamp is NOT necessary for every called shelf, only those that make up the 5-in-a-row are needed for a win.

Why try to get a stamp for every shelf? Because ya never know just which five will help you get BINGO.

At this point, there are some teams who - if they get a stamp or 2 or 3 previously called shelves - will have 4-in-a-row. Some of you even have more than one 4-in-a-row. My suggestion to those teams would be to work on reading, rating and reviewing (RRR) your books for those shelves that give your team 4-in-a-row and a greater chance of winning when/if that lucky fifth shelf is called.

If a winning shelf is announced on Sunday, that means that at least one team would win once that shelf is stamped. The first team to RRR all of their chosen books for five shelves that form a row on their card wins. So, if your team is missing a stamp in that row, the win could go to another team should they get their 5-in-a-row before you.

Clear as mud? Good! >;)

message 746: by D.G. (last edited Aug 23, 2012 06:32AM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Steph - I need you to give me a ruling when I can start reading my book on Saturday.

You see, I'll be traveling to Manila on Saturday and my flight leaves before you announce the shelf (I'll leave for the airport around Saturday noon my time, which is around Sunday 1am your time). I won't have Internet on the plane, so I won't be able to check either the shelf or what time you posted it but as I'll be traveling for around 24 hours, my plan is to start reading a book that fits multiple shelves. Can you please let me know a fair time when you think you will announce the shelf so I can start my book?

message 747: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited Aug 24, 2012 03:35PM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Totally off topic but yesterday I was channel surfing and watched a cooking show. The chef took like a cup of mud, boiled it, drained it, dried it in the oven. Then he stuffed it in a little pouch with pine needles, dumped it into 4 cups of water, added sugar and proceeded to make a syrup out of it (which was a yellowish slimy thing). It's supposed to go well with beet.

I'm not so sure...and it's supposed to taste like maple or something. (before you ask the link to the

show
.is in any case it's in French which could diminish the enjoyment but if you really want it, the recipe is on their website...the video is just better)

message 748: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments That sounds so odd Val. I don't think I would make it but I would try it if I has the chance.

message 749: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Hmmm, good question, DG. You're saying that you'll pick a book that's on multiple shelves in hopes that it will be on the shelf that's picked? If it's not on the called shelf then you'll read another that is, yah?

Time ... what time ... I'd say, lately, I've been posting the shelf around 6a JST. So, I'm fine if you wanna start reading then. Does that work?

LOL Val! Boiled mud, huh? Pine needles too? Yum. (Bleh)

message 750: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I bet the boiled mud still isn't clear...
