I'm very sorry to see the group reads go, but since I'm one of the people complaining about not being able to get the books, I certainly understand the decision. The same thing has happened in all my other groups. Thanks to Terri for all the hard work!

You're welcome, Megan.Shame to hear this is happening in other groups too! Books used to be so readily available across all English speaking countries. The market sure did change with the rise of Amazon and digital books.
Allie wrote: "Yeah, and it should be EASIER with Amazon and e-books!!!!"Probably so, but I'm still a dead tree book girl.
You'd think yes, Allie! So annoying. You'd think they could at least release these UK books as digital in the US. Cheaper for the publishers than printing books for the US and trying to shift them in stores. I'm paper too, Jane, but a lot of people who would join in on group reads mostly read ebook. But they can't access these ebooks. Ridiculous.

I have had to order through UK websites to find the books but the choices were always worth it! Thank you Terri. This is a big problem. For many years I have had a Barnes and Noble Membership but I dropped it for the first time because they stopped having the books I wanted. Im not interested in ebooks but I have had to purchase some if I wanted to read some books. It is sad. Even my library does not carry 50% of the books that I look for.
I live in the U.S. and have not had trouble getting books for the group reads, either through Amazon or Audible. I have to say I haven't tried getting library books. In my area, library books have to be returned too quickly to suit my rather "relaxed" reading pace.I have participated in a few group reads, and have enjoyed being exposed to books I might not normally choose. I'm sorry that these group reads will be discontinued. If I found them dissatisfying in any sense, it would be only that group discussions sometimes have been a little sparse in terms of interaction and participation. I enjoy thoughtful dialog!

Jane, it´s been some time since I promised you German authors who wrote books about Ancient Rome. It wasn´t easy to find some, but I´ll post them in the thread during the coming week.

I did find one not translated into English, but into German from the French: Ein Mann namens Sokrates. It doesn't look terribly difficult.
