Get well Terri, and thank God you're not in Medieval England or whatever other historical period you like. Nasty health care back then.
Adding my best wishes to Terri for her recovery, and thanks to Margaret for setting us up with a group read to finish off the year.

Good choice. I will do my best to join as I haven't read book 1 yet, but they are both very short reads.

You don't really need to read the early Brother Cadfael's in order. After about book 7 you do or you lose track of characters. The first one I read was The Virgin in the Ice which is book 6.
Hope Terri is well and recovering. I am fairly new to this group, but am wondering what the group read will be for January 2017. Has there been a poll? Thanks for answering!
Hi Lynne,Terri usually does the polls and I've been waiting for her to get back to me. I think we may end up doing another 2nd in a series read, but I'm not sure yet.

I've been trying to find where it says in black and white, but I think the first couple of months of the new year are up to the reader--books not read so far out of past poll winners/losers.
If I recall, we did that in January and February of 2015 and January of 2016. I'm not sure if the plan was to have it as an annual thing but we have done it a couple times.

Thanks all of you for responding. I like the idea of 2nd in a series, but also "losers" in previous polls.
I've spoken with Terri. January will be Read of Monthly Read You Didn't Get A Chance to read month.Does that make sense?
Basically, chose a read from 2016 that you didn't get to, and make that your read. There are discussion threads still going for all of them. :)

I'm going to try to finish A Burnable Book which was the group read in May 2014 (before I joined).

Good luck. It's hard going in some places. I mostly kept going for Eleanor/John Rykener. :)
Dawn wrote: "So, no group read for February either??"Isn't Feb. the same as Jan.--read a past winner or loser of poll?
We'll need to do Feb the same as January, I'm afraid. I haven't been able to get hold of Terri to arrange a poll.
Terri will hopefully get a poll up tomorrow. Things are a bit hectic in her neck of the woods at the moment.
Thanks for being patient everyone. I had a medical emergency late last year and it is taking a while to get back to 100 percent. I just needed some time off from group duties.
Thanks, happy.Sorry I dropped out of group activities aftermy medical issue. Right before it happened I was all back in action in A&M. For a fresh start :-) Fate intervened though.
Also renovating atthe moment. A big reno. So I am juggling recovery with trying to do reno. I may be a little too exhausted for a lot of activity on GR in the next two months, but I'll definitely be back posting as much as I can.
Good luck on your reno! We will be doing a major renovation to our home starting in the spring - completing gutting the kitchen and opening up the living room along with putting on a garage - We got some inheritance money that will pay for most of it (I hope :))
Oh boy. Good luck, mate. That is a big disturbance. Especially kitchen. We're ripping out and redoing two bathrooms, reconfiguring some of our kitchen in order to put a very big stove in. Getting a new roof put on. New floorcoverings downstairs. New doors inside and out. Repainting inside and out. Refurbing 3 bedrooms (finished those last weekend) and a bunch of other small things.
The major works begin next week, although hubby and I have been painting and cleaning like wild things. Glad we got a good builder to do the hard stuff. I think theres some things that shouldn't be DIY so are very glad the bank manager gave us some money for reno. Unfortunately the bank wants it back eventually...with interest would you believe! :-)

Banks....Sheesh
Glad you're are feeling well enough to take on this huge reno! I have trouble renovating one room at a time! Wishing you success on time & under budget!!
Good to see you too, mate! Been too long. The Winebulance hey...bet that has a thirsty tank in it. Must refuel every few miles.
April group read poll is open. I am sure you all have the message in your inboxes by now. :-)The choices are..
The Last of the Templars won the April Poll. Discussion thread is open. Find it in the group read folder.
I have a really interesting pair up coming in the May Poll. No hints. Just saying, :-) Will be fascinating to see which way the votes go,

A couple very different books in the poll this month. This is the pairing I spoke of a couple posts back.
I suspect it will be a close poll. Let's see how it goes.

Library has neither and I'll buy one only if it's an el cheapo. I'll probably bow out this month.
