I've decided that because group read poll ties aren't the best thing for our group reads - and I am not always around to change my vote and break a tie when the poll reaches its zenith - that if it ever happens again I'll run a tie breaker poll. A poll that is only open for a couple hours or something and is only promoted in the group here (not via private message). It will be a quick poll. It may only get 10 votes on it, but hopefully it will be enough to break the tie and it will be run at a time when I am around to prevent another tie.
Got caught up in a busy long weekend fellow A&Mers. Will post the poll tomorrow (tomorrow my time..which is Tuesday).
Sorry for the delay.
Looks like The Last Templar will be our medieval group read in July.As for the Ancient, that is still all to play for. River God had been leading, but then last night Roman Blood got in front.
I am going to call it. Only a few hours before the polls finish and I amc ertain there will be no change. These will be our July Group Reads.
I did find a couple good videos for the group reads this month. The Templar one is a bit long at 15 minutes but it's very informative and the wealth of anything Roman made it hard to choose but seeing as Cicero is the focal point of our Roman read, I picked one featuring him.
Enjoy!
Promise not to be late with the polls this month. Of course, promises are meant to be broken. :DI won't though. Unless something comes up, then I might break my promise. *shrugs* :]

No tripping down the steps to avoid the chickens. Not that you should step on the chickens, just maybe avoiding the tripping bit :D
Can't fight that Poll feeling? That's because the polls are open!!!https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5...
Good grief. I knew the voting between The Archer's Tale and The Whale Road might be close, but I'm still surprised to see neither has pulled away yet.
Alright my friends, we have two poll winners for August. The Archer's Tale by Bernard Cornwell for the Medieval era.
&
The Gates of Rome by Conn Iggulden for the Ancient era.
I have read three out of four, but it is time for re-reads. THE WHALE ROAD will be a first. In GOR look for a bit of humor.

Alrighty people!! Come and vote: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5...Let's hear what you think of these ones! :)
For the first time, all three books I haven't read are available at the library. And, the other one I had borrowed as an audiobook from the library. :)
I think all of these ones should be easy to track down. I've read two and can get the others from my library as well.
One of our book in the voting list for next month is on sale at amazon kindle store. I, Claudius (Sorry no Goodreads link, I'm using the app)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J...
ARghhh! Clicked on the link and apparently "this title is not available for purchase" in Canada. *flails fists and stomps up and down on imagined Amazon distribution contracts*
Kimber wrote: "ARghhh! I don't have a kindle, but I'd imagine you're locked into Amazon if you have one.
For me it shows as $9.99. Guessing the sale price is cheaper than that? ($9.99 is pretty much the same in US dollars)

No,you are not locked into Amazon if you have a Kindle. You can buy on Smashwords. You can download books in pdf format. You can also convert e-books in other formats using Calibre. I do all these things frequently.

not really, Jane. With Kindle you need .azw or .mobi files.
If you purchase books elsewhere, i.e. on Smashwords, in different formats (.epub, .lit, etc) you can convert them with programs like Calibre in the format you need.
It's freeware, so you don't have to pay to install it, it occupies a really small part of your PC memory, and it's user friendly, very easy to operate.
I'm sure you wouldn't have any difficulty.
NB: you can't convert files with DRM, they are blocked. actually there are programs that unlock this kind of files, but they act against the law.

Lol..not on a beach. Up in Canada visiting the fiancé and remodelling the laundry room. Not quite a beach but just as happy :D
Brace yourselves people! The October Group Read Polls will be released to the world today!!Later today..probably when all you people from the other time zones are asleep with your dreams of books. :)
And so, on the eighth day of the ninth month in the year twenty fourteen, it was done. :)https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5...
Ah well, I won't be taking part. I've read all the books, and don't like any enough to be re-reads. :)
