I hope yours isn't coming from Sussex. Because that was the one I bought earlier. It was 'supposedly' the only one that World of Books had that was very good. :\

I use world of books a lot, good quality for 2nd hand books.
Well, I broke down and bought a copy of The Eagle and the Raven, but only because I needed to get two other books for other projects and since I could get each for $3.95 with $3.49 postage. Except, I noticed on the receipt, that the second and third books had deduction of $0.50 on the postage; so chuffed I am. :)

Luckily, my library has Heresy. The other would have been interesting though...
Terri wrote: "Me too. It reviews so poorly that I have been avoiding it."I just looked on our library website: of the editorial reviews: Booklist negative; Publisher's Weekly mediocre, and Library Journal positive.
So I guess it's up to individual taste.
Terri wrote: "We should contact the media to warn the world of the shortage. :D"Turns out it's used in one of the Uni courses here, so while the library system has several copies, they're all out unti April. Had to buy a copy. I'm worried though, didn't get on with Gedge with that The Hippopotamus Marsh. Hopefully this one goes better
Low books budget this month, I have to depend from library and friends. I've found a French copy of Leo Africanus, so I'll read the loser...again! But I'm really attracted by this book, so I'm happy.
I think a lot of our regular group readers voted for Leo and Judas (or one of them), while the inactive contingent voted for the more mainstream books. Oh well. It happens in every group and it is still nice that they voted. A shame, tis all, that most of them don't join us in the reads.

I thought this Gedge was great--story and characters--5*****! I tried two of hers set in ancient Egypt:
Mirage 4****
The Twelfth Transforming 3***
I had no interest in The Hippopotamus Marsh in the first place.
A couple days to go, but we have our winners unofficially. The two I posted together in an earlier post.
Going to use the red cover because it goes with the group theme colours. Plus it matches the Gedge cover a bit better than the blue Heresy. :)
Result, just picked up a copy of Heresy (red cover) for 50p in my local charity shop. That's me good to go. :-)

Awesome has been fine so far, except I don't get that shipping discount on 2 or more books. Oh well [sigh]
I was able to get Heresy from my library here in Florida …. and picked it up today, have it for 4 weeks. The Eagle and the Raven is not available anywhere in the entire county library system.
I think I forgot to reserve heresy from my library. Crap. I'll get onto that. Now that I discover the used copy of the other March group read is not coming, I will be starting the month with Heresy.
I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!! But the polls are up now. I've picked them all myself so honestly you are just lucky they aren't all mysteries. :)
...and the outcome was foretold. Next month, just sign me up on the losers. I'll be there, as usual...:)
If I can source them, I too will be reading the losers. I'm not up to reading the winners hehETA: And by that I mean the ones that currently sitting in the losing spot. Could be things change.
Marilee wrote: "I was able to get Heresy from my library here in Florida …. and picked it up today, have it for 4 weeks. I ordered The Eagle and the Raven through their ILL.
Simona wrote: "...and the outcome was foretold. Next month, just sign me up on the losers. I'll be there, as usual...:)"You really are a habitual loser, Simona. ;)
The April poll ends in a few hours. I think we can guess the winners. :)So I am going to set the group read threads up a few hours early as I may not have a chance to do it for a while after the polls finish.
Anybody else reading the losers? I am starting "The Pericles Commission" our April loser.(Sorry, no book link. Posting using the app)
For Lia The Pericles CommissionI read The Wolves of Savernake last week and really enjoyed it. I liked the prose and the number of potential baddies was quite good too. Made me think that had Dorothy L. Sayers written historical fictions, they would be similar to this.
@Darcy; Thank you for the link. Good to know that The Wolves is promising. I ordered it from ILL. I hope it will arrive soon. @Dawn; Oh yeah! Now I recalled something about she like it better then both of our April's winners.
I have the Medieval poll contenders in my head now. Still working on the Ancient.Ancient is the HARDEST!
Should have the polls up tomorrow. :)
Dawn wrote: "I know Jane read The Pericles Commission."I sure did and enjoyed it though didn't rate it the highest. Well, it was Book #1 in a series and the author was probably getting his bearings. I do plan to continue w/ the series.

Oh good, I look forward to your picks!
Medieval was easy this time. Next month should be too as I have four books I am jumping around between. The two I don't put in this month will likely go into next month. :-)
