How best to handle Cancelled books being imported

I contacted Lawrence Block about his book Speaking Of Wrath, and received a reply stating that it was "cancelled and never published."

Since this book was imported from ingram and also appears in ISBNdb (where the title was verified), I don't think deleting is the answer. (It would just be re-imported, right?)

As an interim approach, I have already clearly marked it as Cancelled and Never Published (see Speaking Of Wrath), so that users will not try to add it nor believe it is available.

Is this the correct way to handle this? Or would NABbing have been better?

I have not seen any policy about this issue. Do we need a thread to develop one?

That's what we usually do. Otherwise users will go looking for it and create new editions.

* short stories published online (the format should be "ebook")
* audio productions, not recordings of theatrical productions (the format should be "audiobook")
* podcasts of books
