Dyusko, andaming mga eloquent attendees sa Saturday. This will be a mind-boggling discussion. Durugo ang utak natin nito. Dapat talaga magbasa para di mangamote hak hak. Sana po, di ako ma-tongue-tied hak hak.Angus, si Billy Candelaria ay nag-confirm in the other thread. Sabi ko "weh?" (kasi nag-YES din sya before pero di dumating). But sana, sana nga pumunta kasi matagal ko na syang nakikita dito sa GR pero ni anino di ko pa nakita. Buti si Purplycookie nakita na namin sya nina Jzhun, Ranee at Ruby sa Podium two years ago... If I am not mistaken, she's an English teacher and she teaches young kids Literature. So, this must be an interesting F2F.
At mahilig sa fantasy si Purplycookie, Neil Gaiman is her ultimate favorite author to the point that she's shelling out money to buy action figures of Sandman. Wala lang, may masabi lang. Haha! :D

He has already read Marquis de Sade's 120 Days of Sodom. In fact, when he saw that book as our monthly read (noong di pa tayo nage-F2F) tinanong nya sinong pumili kasi good book daw yon.

Compared to the serious Tolkien fans you mentioned above Kuya D, I am but a Hobbit when it comes to the knowledge of Middle-Earth. But of course I'm willing to help others. :)

I don't have paper copies of those but I can give you the audiobooks! I can lend you Murder Must Advertise paperback as well.

Kristel, sige. I love audiobooks while driving. But borrow ko rin yong Murder Must Advertise. Yey!Charles, I can emphatize with that. I've read all Bob Ong books but I am not his fan. Parang ironic pero ganun yata talaga minsan. I just wanted to make sure that I know all his works so when people talk about them, I can share something. Just like "Twilight" hak hak.

Nagkakaroon ng special personal meaning ang high fantasy na ito. Nagkaroon ng survey sa Britain a decade ago(?) lumabas na Top 2 ito sa Most Favorite Books in Britain. I endorse what Maria said na wag magpa-deep dahil wala syang balak na ganoon. Bilang moderator, yon ang style nya. It will be her "show." Pero kung may magtanong at may marunong sumagot (based sa nabasa nya o sa interpretation nya), don't be shy to share. Sabi lang ni Maria, focus the discussion on Book 1 kasi may mga magbabasa pa ng Books 2 & 3. Si Maria rin ang magdra-drive ng discussion so let's respect her as the moderator. On the other hand, di sya pedeng mag-side bagkus she has to encourage the participation of all.
In my mind 2 ang main objectives ng F2F:
1) To discuss the book - to share our views, interpretation, to learn from one another. No right or wrong answers.
2) To enjoy each others' company - we'd like to make sure that after each F2F, our friendship is stronger than before the F2F.
Pedeng may arguments pero let's do it positively and there should be no animosity. We can do everything in a friendly way.
We have been consistent on this. We are a friendly bunch of people and we plan to stay that way. Lovefest baga :) hak hak.

Do not do side talks when somebody - moderator man o member - is talking. We are again a big group and not everyone is interested on what you are saying to your katabi. Let's RESPECT the one talking. At naroon tayo dahil interesado tayo sa book at sa opinion ng iba so kahit pa parang walang sense ang naririnig mo, tumahimik ka na lang o kumain at wag mong sabayan.
Ayan, tatay na tatay ang dating ko. Pero ha, marami nang namumuro sa akin. Late tapos pagdating akala mo kung sinong artista na daldal ng daldal.
