Combining Titles with Author Name Variations.

I was Wanting to combine the above mentioned book with Palos Of The Dog Star Pack: The Complete Trilogy But in one case the author's name is entered using his first two initials, and in the other case, it shows his entire name including the middle name, preventing the other edition from coming up in the list of combinable editions. Help?
