What a great idea this is. As a newbie here, how do I go about submitting a short story and when is the deadline? Thanks.

The deadline is the end of September Jonathan. You can submit a story to me (editor). When you're ready send me a PM here and I'll let you have my email address. You can attach the story as a word document.Great to have another author on board!
It's ...Eclectic! Anything from flash fiction to short novella length. We intend it to be like this forum - splendidly varied!

Thanks, I'll make sure I submit something! And btw your comment on my review has inspired me to write my next book. I won't say anything just yet but I intend it to revolve around a number of characters, who each have their own story, but all the characters are linked in some way. I wrote the first chapter last night!
Ignite wrote: "Wow! I inspired someone! I look forward to that."Like you don't inspire loads of folk on here!

here! here!

Just the other day Ignite told me off for saying 'here, here' instead of 'hear, hear' . Oh the irony. lol
Ignite wrote: "Not in public though. I try to be nice."Ignite, the lessons stick better if you berate him publicly. ;)

I always thought it was, 'I here approve, too.' But I wld not dare argue with ignite as I know she has a fiendish eye for infelicities in the wording. Actually, I secretely hope she is a secret commissioning editor in deep cover for World Pub Inc or some such power. Anyway I absolutely agree with your original comment as to her inspirational enthusiasm. So HEAR! HEAR! from HERE!
Or, 'Now hear this!'It's often used in Parliament and calls on others to hear the worsds of wisdom. Oh, well, not that obviously but you get the idea.
Really? In Parliament? For one of them to actually listen to someone else speak?Bet it's an Urban Myth really.

An institution with a speaker but no listeners
Lots of contributions. I'm going to start pulling them into some sort of order next week. Then I can give a total word count.
Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "Or is that letters?"Words and letters might be the same if you're writing in Swedish as taught by the Two Ronnies
I don't need to know SImon. I will want to know the final length of the book though. Word will tell me.
Um... does that mean that if I wait until I have some free time to write my short for you (September) that you might have filled up your word count and tell me to sod off.Just asking.
Cheers
MTM
Not at all! My word count is flexible - one of the few things about me that still is! So please feel free to sod back on again in September!
Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "Oh, I have something for the book Ignite. Do I have to count the words?"Simon, we haven't discussed your submission yet!
Ignite, you love having everyone submit to you, don't you? ;)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "She can take over in the dungeon when I go on holiday."Somehow there is something about dungeons which seems out of kilter with modern working practices.
Frankly dungeon staff shouldn't be slouching about talking about putting in a bit of overtime, or getting double time Sundays and time off in lieu. And as for their so many days paid holiday a year, I'm frankly scandalised. They're be having H&SE inspections next "sorry, I'm afraid hot irons cannot be hotter than normal body temperature"
Darren wrote: "Health and Safety inspections are welcome. It gives them someone to practice on."I like the way you're thinking.
Phnark... OK, talking of dungeons. This is a bona fide job centre ad. I'm guessing Gingerlilly applied.http://babychaos.files.wordpress.com/...

Yeah Norwich would be handy. Unfortunately Vanessa has also applied, and I think she is ahead of me....
You could fly into Norwich International Airport and take the bus in... phnark. Ryanair would love you!

somehow I feel reassured that national minimum wage rates apply

Ignite, can you let me have the email again, please?I sent you some stuff twice, and each time it has bounced back.
Tim A wrote: "Any space for a little post-apocalyptic wotsit? I have an idea..."I love post apocalyptic wotsit. Haven't read any in ages!
I'll be happy to give it a once over for you before you send it off to Ignite, if you like.
Ignite wrote: "I've started to put it together! I'd forgotten how good some of these stories are."I've got an idea for a companion piece to 'Occasional Showers' (http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blog...) but I'm out of action typing-wise for a bit.
