Must they be short stories or can they be excerpts - and should they be exclusive to the collection? And how long should they be (maximum)? :)
Not excerpts. The longest last time was over 10,000 words. Copyright stays with the author so it can be used again. Nice if it's new though.

Any Genre Baarbaara.... I expect a bit of poetry will be welcome!I finished my short story his morning... very short!
The only stories I know are about Johnny McGlory and I think that might be considered plagarism as I believe someone has already written a poem about him, unless it was my granny that made it up cause she used to tell us the stories.I'll tell you a story
About Johnny McGlory
Who bored a wee hole in the wall
And I'll tell you another about his Big Brother
(can't remember the last line)
That last line doesn't rhyme Jud!Baarbaara has sent me a poem.
You know where to send your very short life story Simon!
I googled Johnny McGlory and found out that "I'll tell you a story about Johnny McGory..." Was a common opener in Ireland for children's stories, but nothing else so I guess my granny invented those stories? I guess the years have dimmed my memory or else my young ears heard McGory and turned it to McGlory or it is also possible my granny though McGory was not a nice enough name and thought McGlory was better.
It sounds like it's related to I'll tell you a story of Jackanory.
I'll tell you another of Jack and his brother.
Jackanory of course, was nicked for a children's programme in which celebrities read stories.
I used to love Jackanory. Always loved Bernard Cribbins reading the stories. :-) Ooops, showing my age. :-)

Could be! My granny is over this weekend for a visit and I would ask her but she might think I like her if I do that. Ah well we'll see how we get on and maybe I will anyway, there are worse things in life
I gave Patti my short story to check. She hasn't mentioned it since so I think my novel about SAP BApi programming didn't go down too well. Back to the drawing board.
Whadamean I've not mentioned it???Told you I want to skype through the changes this week.
Would help if you read your emails...

Hi all, Now that I have finished with the essay that I was doing I have some time to start thinking about the cover for this book. I know it is a long way off yet but I am excited to get going on it and would like it to be a group effort too :-)
I would really love any ideas or thoughts that anyone has on the subject.. The only thing I know for sure is that I want to keep the Oak Tree in there somewhere (I may even try painting one or something to give me some inspiration!) but is there anything else that HAS to be included (apart from the title, obviously that is a given!)

Pompoms, brownies and fluffy pillows???
Patti (Stir Crazy) wrote: "Green. Lots n lots of green. And a cat with no ears.
(miss you Dotty)"
I was going to say Patti would like it to be green
Okay, so far we've got a no eared green cat emerging from a chocolate fountain full of phish whilst eating brownies and drinking beer on a bed of fluffy pillows, superimposed on a map of the world.

Well, a salmagundi is a tossed salad (no comments about tossers please!)Lots of leaves, nuts, berries, different things. The whole idea is that the writers contribute a wealth of different items. The book will be as varied as the group, I hope!

I think we can manage the nutz.
Ha!! Yeah, we do nuts well!!Had an idea. Imagine, if you will, 9 boxes, each with a separate image in them (I can use my own photography or drawing/paintings/cartoons) with some of the suggestions from here. Would definitely be a mixed bag!!
And please please can I use a picture of a squid?
Drawing from Ignite's description (pardon the pun )I see a cornocopia overflowing with all the various genre of the book's content eg, thriller, poetry, comedy, fantasy etc.Perhaps the words could be written inside the different fruits or the fruits constructed from the words.Definitely nuts me!
Okay, now I'm seeing our oak tree but the foliage is as Sarah has just described it.Perhaps you could do a silly cover for a laugh as well, Emz?
