And put it in KDP Select so we can give away lots, too :)

I think around the £2 mark, the price can always be reduced after a couple of weeks and how about offering it free on Christmas Day? This tactic would raise more money for the forum whilst also maximising exposure.
Christmas Day will probably be flooded with promotions. It will be hard to get noticed. KUF are selling their latest group book at £1.54 and from what I can tell, it's much shorter.
I think people will buy it even if they know it will eventually be free. Members here seem to be a supportive bunch.
May be preferable to keep any upcoming free days under wraps until a couple days before though.
I often pay for authors books even if I know they will eventually be offered free.I'm more than happy to pay for the privilege of being one of the first to read it!

I don't think I put my blog at the end of my story. Do I need to mail you the link?
Oh yes I don't mind paying for it.I don't have a blog but I have a facebook page. How about putting in author pages on Amazon (or where ever)
My facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/DarkFantasyBe...
my author pages are http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alexandra-But...
http://www.amazon.com/Alexandra-Butch...
I think select is a good plan. If we aren't planning to have it anywhere else I can't see why not. People might borrow it even if we don't do any freebie days.
my blog is http://www.sulcicollective.blogspot.com and website http://marcnash.weebly.commany thanks

I'm looking forward to reading it :)Finished the first draft of my story (about 2000 words) - now to go back and make it presentable ;)

I've got a sci-fi from DM and a funny from Philip - last call for Mr Wailing? Are you joining the fun?67,300 words and counting.
That kind of wordcount is probably enough to justify a 70% royalty rate. And that kind of price point might mean that the money coming from sales is sufficient to balance giving copies away through Select. You need to decide what's more important, really, the money, or the exposure? I'm a bit vague on what you actually need the money for, so I would have thought the exposure might be the thing to pursue, both for the authors and for attracting new members to the group.
Damn I thought it was for my world cruise;)May I ask something though, can we give a little to a cancer charity. My mother has just passed away from cancer and I would relly like to do something.
Maybe in 12 months see how many have been sold and give a donation?
It doesn't matter if the answer is no. I just thought I would suggest it.
We'll take it under advisement Alexandra. :)I know that is a cause close to many of our groupites hearts.
You can do what you wish with the money, but as for me I'm quite skeptical of conventional cancer research and medicine, and tend to be supportive of the alternative and independent side of things.

MacMillan nurses
I don't want to cause anyone any anguish, but I didn't sign up for a charity anthology. If I wanted to give money to a cancer charity, I would (and indeed I do, and my girlfriend has organised a MacMillan coffee morning thing and done the Race For Life in the last couple of months). I submitted a story for a book designed to support and promote the forum, and I'm not happy with the goalposts being shifted towards charitable giving, regardless of anyone's personal circumstances.Sorry, I'm probably a dreadful person, but I feel I have to say this.
As I said, under advisement. The teeny amount of money raised by the last book has and will continue to go back into the group.
There are no plans to anything else with any money raised by this book.
Calm......

i'd have to agree with you there.
Yes, but now that my name is associated with the anthology, sales will clearly be different from last time...*cough* *splutter*
Nosedive eh Darren?I think, having already stated that the proceeds go to the group, we need to stick to that. Authors have sent work in with that at the back of their minds.
When (listen to the woman!) we do another, we can decide at that point whether we take another recipient of the proceeds?
i like it how it funds our awesome quizzes and that members of the group are very willing to run them. i love you guys <3
We love you too Peanut!Speaking of which, I mentioned a competition idea I had to Simon and he's not got back to me yet! Sheesh!

So, what's new?
There is no doubt that the book will support and promote the forum whatever happens to the proceeds. The book's readers will discover new authors from this forum. The book itself is an advertisement for the forum which may bring readers here. Authors may take a firmer interest in the forum if they think there will be future books.

I once mentioned an idea to Patti who mentioned it to Simon and that was the last I heard of it.
Can't remember what it was now.
Just been catching up with this thread - can't wait to buy the book! Sounds fantastic!

Trouble is, a lot of the serial reviewers (like me) are involved. It'll be tough GETTING reviews!(You can have 'eclectic' if Jonathan will rent it out to you Kath!)
Since at this stage I won't be in it (unless I have a flood of inspiration in the next ...day!) I can review it.
Good thinking GL - and happy holiday very soon! And Kath, I won't tell what your name is if you don't!
