message 801: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I'm just final-drafting mine.

Is it all right if I have a special character in my heading? I want to call my story Grumpies™.

message 802: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hi David - I know there are still a couple to come. It's a very exciting job, getting to read them all as they come in.

And Darren - nice try, Buster!

message 803: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Ah, Rosen - you were on a new page, nearly missed you!
If I can get it in, yes. If you send it and it will copy/paste, it's in. If I can't I'll get Darren H on the job.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments David wrote: "Some of us are still writing our contribution... that list is going to be longer!"

Phnark! You're not the only one... if I can contribute something else, I'm certainly going to.

Cheers

MTM

Tim | 8539 comments You got an excess of 't's in my name - I'm the cheap version, just one on each end (don't worry, everyone gets it wrong ;))

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments This is beginning to get exciting. I think I might have to do a Web Page for it when it comes out.

message 807: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Can't you tell I love T (Tea anyway) Sorry Tim, I'll nip in and change it straight away!

message 808: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Changed it on the book, Tim.

message 809: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Cool seems fine to me:) Very excited:) I can stick a link on my facebook page so my pitiful number of friends know about it.

message 810: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Please could I make a proposition?

This afternoon I made a trailer for my book and it is now on YouTube.
I had a thought that I could make a trailer for the Anthology if people think it's a good idea.
My own trailer is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV9nvy...
I'm not posting this as a plug but to demonstrate a trailer example.

I have several ideas and I envisage all the authors names flashing on and off or possibly rolling like film credits. Even though everyone can't be named as an official author, this might be a nice idea to get everyone's name on the trailer.
What do people think?

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments The line up is so impressive! Can't wait!

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments ™ - alt + 0153 on any computer

message 813: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Jonathan - excellent idea. Any publicity we can give this book is good for all the authors.

message 814: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thanks, Ignite. Well, if others agree, I'll gladly make a trailer when we have the final list of names. It's also a good opportunity to illustrate/explain the wonderfully bizarre name to the anthology.

I managed to 'embed' my own trailer into my blog so I'm sure we could achieve the same with the Goodreads trailer if we add it to various places. I would definitely add it to my own blog.

message 815: by Kath (last edited Sep 24, 2012 11:02AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just watched the trailer - very dramatic!

Incidentally I'm currently reading An Abandoned Woman by Lexie Conyngham and the cook has just decided that one of the dishes for the ball at Letho will be a Salmagundi!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments *LIKE*!

message 817: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I think I promised an article for this ages ago. If space allows, I may have something. I just have to put the finishing touches to it.

message 818: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Ok thanks Phil - I'll PM you my email address.

message 819: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Story from Rosen received today!

message 820: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Um... I probably shouldn't admit this but my 'story' isn't entirely fictional.

message 821: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Rosen wrote: "Um... I probably shouldn't admit this but my 'story' isn't entirely fictional."

Well Ignite knows mine isn't either, so it isn't an automatic disqualification
However your seminal paper the coming of age rituals in Doncaster is probably not going to get published in this anthology.

This is gonna be such a GREAT book!

message 824: by D.M. Andrews (author) (last edited Sep 27, 2012 12:28AM) (new)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I started writing something! I started writing something!

Probably be quite short - what's the min word count?

It's rather looking like science-fiction at the moment...

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Every word in my contribution is true. I may have taken a few liberties joining them together though.

message 826: by Jim (new)

mine's only 874 words if that's any help

Jim | 21809 comments Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "Every word in my contribution is true. I may have taken a few liberties joining them together though."

"every word she writes is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'." :-)

(with apologies to the late Mary McCarthy)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Thanks, Jim. Mine's 1100 atm, but may stretch to 2000. I'm not very good at short stories :( It will probably end up reading like an excerpt from a larger work that doesn't exist ;)

message 829: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hey Darren.

I got an email from amazon this morning recommending books cuz I liked Pied and Prodigious. Cool, eh?

message 830: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments No minimum word count. It's got be be long enough to make sense though. No fragments without a verb. Got to be a whole sentence!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Cool, Patti!

Yup, Ignite - will make sense (to me! ;) )

message 832: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh Blimey. I'll have to concentrate then, will I?

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments It's quite different to what I've written before... ;)

message 834: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Some have written very much in their usual vein, some have written something very different. It's really great!

message 835: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments Mine is I think fairly consistent with the style of the short stories in my collection, but there are a few elements in it that are quite new for my writing.

message 836: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Still awaiting David Wailing and DM Andrews - but otherwise it's all set up and sent to my kindle for a proofreading run-through.
Whooo - exciting!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments It must be making your kindle super heavy :)

message 838: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'm peddling like the blazes to charge it too!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Blimey, best get it done... I hope I never get signed up by an agent/publisher. I can't write to deadlines ;)

message 840: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Don't worry - I'll slip you in - Fnar, fnar!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Do we need to provide a bio too? What's the format? Is it:

Title
by
Author name
Story
Short bio with one link?

message 842: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just title
by Thingie
Story
Link to blog/website if you have one.

message 843: by Kath (last edited Sep 27, 2012 08:21AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just remembered, Philip's titivating something too.

message 844: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Anyone like to suggest a price?

message 845: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Same as JK's Rowlings latest.

message 846: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You mean we don't want any readers?

message 847: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh.

There is that.

How about same as the last one, then?

message 848: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 77p? It's twice as long (as the actress said.....)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments It should probably be the minimum if it's purpose is exposure for the contributors?

message 850: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Think I agree with Darren but we could perhaps do 99p?

What does everyone else think?
