Readers, if you're willing to beta read, authors, if you're looking for beta readers, this is the thread to connect with each other.

ooo good idea - just maybe add what genres you are interested in/offering could also help match authors/readers together
I am more than keen to be a beta reader (am currently doing so for a couple of authors) I am happy to do any genre especially Fantasy, Sci-fi, Dystopian, Crime, Thriller and comedy.
I already have quite a number (although I hate the term beta reader. It's from computing, I think - beta users.) Happy to be called a proof reader though.I'm not sure I have time to manage any more and still read books!
You know who you are!
I dunno...To me 'proof reader' sounds more important than what I do. I just point out any typos or formatting issues I notice. Perhaps the odd awkward sentence or grammatical error.
Anyway, whatever we call it, I do like to be helpful.
Mind you, I do it for books I'm planning to read anyway, not because I've been approached so much. I really, truly never want to consider my reading to be a chore or pressured.
More than what we do (although I still do it sometimes) is copy editing. When you would suggest correct words for incorrect ones, suggest changing the order of words or sentences, suggest removing (editing) surplus stuff that hinders the flow.If you are reading a proof copy (as it was called in the old paper days) you are proof reading.
If it's just a question of pointing out typos and formatting errors, maybe I can promise to pay more attention and offer my services as a Tetra-reader maybe?
Aubergine? I think Michael is annoyed because he tried to put it down on the Wordfeud board but he didn't have enough letters for it :P
Ahem... I hope all you beta readers are making sure the group is linked on these authors blogs etc.....
Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "Ahem... I hope all you beta readers are making sure the group is linked on these authors blogs etc....."Very good point, Simon.
The benefits of being in the group should work in both directions. I'm sure all are in agreement on that. :)
I would be happy to do this, i mainly read horror, thriller and crime but will give most things a go and like helping authors
I would be happy to point out typos and formatting issues!!! My favourite books are fantasy but I read all sorts of things.
Good idea! And, yes, genres would be good too list. Readers should have a knack for seeing errors!(Did you spot the one above? ;) )
Pffft. Pretend it was a deliberate mistake when we all know you were just too lazy to correct it. ;)
If I can help proof reading, please drop me PM. Just finished proofing one book, so have some spare capacity. Not really concerned with the genre.

He'd be so pleased.
Log tables. That'll larn 'im!Aren't I being awful to poor old Geoff? And he's one of my oldest friends here. He knows I don't mean it.
Clay tablet and stencil here ;)My early-YA fantasy novella revision should be done around mid to late June. Beta readers can PM me ;) (must have an eye for errors and be able to read it within a week).
I have a slide rule at work. I bring it out occasional to shock the younger members of the team. Some of them don't even know what it is.....
I have a slide rule, too: never go down one. Too old. Oh, and don't touch the sides (can get friction burn).
I'd love a new beta reader. I write epic and urban fantasy. Next book is a sequel. Also have a novella that's almost done.
My YA book will be done this week - here are the details for those interested in reading an advanced copy:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...

Just PM me the synopsis.
I need a proof reader who doesn't mind reading erotic romance. It's a short story about 7-8000 words.:-)Let me know if there are any takers. It should be finished this week. x
I'm happy to proof read because I like to help but I will warn authors, I'm not good at grammar so would probably miss those errors. I will not be offended if no one wants to use me. It's understandable.
