Welcome Sarah, I am glad you joined the group.

I'm Marina, 35, from Italy. I've known this group for a long time (some friends and people I know from other groups are here), and finally decided to join. I'm forever complaining about joining too many challenges, but it seems like I can't resist... it must be an addiction!
Something about me: I'm a technical translator and non-fiction copy-editor, a bit overwhelmed by work lately, to be honest. I love cats but I don't have any in my small flat, unfortunately. I read a variety of genres, although I have a few favorites: literary fiction first and foremost, mystery, post-apocalyptic, dystopia, drama. But I'll read anything, really. Or at least, I'll try.

Hi Megan! This group is great for broadening one's horizons.... however, I've found it deadly to the TBR!!! ha, ha....

I love the tasks you all wrote for the spring challenge and look forward to digging in!

Hi Katie - welcome! It is funny how motivating points can be at certain times, when choosing what to read next!

Welcome, Katie! We're glad to have you. Get your reading toes wet as you can, and feel free to ask questions as you go.

I really like the idea of a challenge that rewards people for reading more challenging books. I’ve been participating in the seasonal reading challenge for the last year and although I think it’s a great challenge, I’ve been a little frustrated with myself for often prioritising easy or short books so I can complete as many tasks as possible from the very long list. I’ve definitely been neglecting the longer or more challenging books on my TBR so I hope that this challenge might help me remedy that a little.
About me...I like to read most genres, especially classics, literary fiction and historical fiction. I also like a good page turner like a thriller or mystery, and since last year I’ve also started to read some sci-fi (starting with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? which I loved) which is a genre I never really enjoyed before but which I would now like to read more of.
I’m also working on another year long reading challenge, this is my plan for that challenge - Around the Year in 52 books - I’m sure some of my books will overlap between challenges.

EDIT: Also, if you'd like to post your 2018 goals, your moderators will try to incorporate some of them in future tasks.

Thanks for the suggestion to add my 2018 goals. I think I need to revise my goals a little bit (I originally set them back in October and my plans have changed a little since) but once I’ve done that I’ll add to the thread.
Thanks again for the welcome, I’m looking forward to being part of this group.

Hi Bryony,
I am from SRC too. I have never finished an SRC. Lot of the books I read for SRC, I can use in this challenge.

Hi + welcome, Bryony! I see you like a wide range of genres, as do I. I'll be keeping an eye out for your posts to see what books to add to the ever expanding TBR list!

I do SRC as well and I challenge myself to have all of my books fit in both challenges. It's like doing a big puzzle. I hardly ever finish SRC. I think I finished twice in the years I've been doing it. I also fell prey to reading short books for a while and I'm definitely trying to get away from that feeling. This season is even more challenging because I'm also doing the Roundtable group challenge. It is also one that leads you to and rewards you for choosing worthy books;)

And if you haven't, don't worry. We all make posting errors.

Hi Lalitha!

Madame Bovary will fit the 20.10 task this season; it will combo with 10.4, 10.9, 20.2, 20.4 (20 combo points), pub'd in 1856 for 15 oldies points, and if you write a review of at least 100 words, another 10 points there, for a total of 65 points. Very nice!
We don't have the kind of group reads where everyone reads the same book and discusses. The 10.10 Group Reads task are books some of our members read in the previous challenge that they think other group members will enjoy reading.

Yes, you can claim all of the books you've read since March 1. We do nothing but challenges, which are 3 months long. You might want to look at our FAQs.

Hi Lynn! I do that too - snoop around in GR friends groups! ha, ha... I enjoy the tasks + points here at RwS. It has prevented me from falling into a rut. I see you've already jumped in with completed tasks, I'll look forward to your reviews!

I am Lincee and I love travel, food and learning. I am an avid reader and also a newly published author. Right now my gym workouts and resistance to chocolate are my biggest challenges. I have to pray every day otherwise I will stuff my face with chocolate and cry at the gym. Reading is also my escape right next to the gym and chocolate. : )
