Something to Think About

Hmm... What do you mean if they'd still met? They'd still be brother and sister. Only thing is, their parents would be present in their lives, present and parental. No alcoholic mother, no missing father—they'd be a complete family. If not a complete family (I'm not sure their father's feelings for their mother would change), a family.
I don't think they would have. I hate to say it, but their love for each other seems more a psychological issue than a physical one.
If their parents had been present and parental—we're talking throughout their entire lives here—they wouldn't have felt the need to turn to each other as much. They, as well as their younger siblings, would have other people they could trust and depend on—it wouldn't be so hard on Lochan and Maya.

I read this just today. I agree, I think it was the fact that they had to support on each other all the time and constantly look after the kids that led to their falling in love.

No signs of social weirdness? I'm not sure about that.
Social anxiety can manifest on its own, I believe.

I think they definitely felt in love with each other because they were basically a couple raising 3 kids. I think if they'd had a more stable family life, they would have had time to pursue other more healthy relationships. Lochan probably would have gotten better help with his anxiety, they'd have had time to develop friendships because they wouldn't have to leave school right away to be the sole caregivers for the other kids.
They probably would have always been a little too close, but probably would have become some weird "BFF" type situation.

It's a good question...
Do you think they would still have fallen in love?
