I love Allie's descriptions of everyday things...
Motocycles - motorized bicycles
Bats - winged mice
I think the author did a really good job with the descriptiveness of the book and the feeling of the lost past.

Yeah, I agree with you also. I really like the plot and writing style.

I agree
Okay, I'm starting to think Allisons weird dreams are coming from her connection with Kanin. She is sired to him right? So she might be having dreams about what he's going through in another space and time.
Just a theory :)

If you haven't finished the book, don't read this!

I can't wait for the next book! Sadly...not until next year.

Is anyone else reading the Kindle version? At the end there are some discussion questions about the book. I can post them once everyone is finished reading if you want...actually some I could post now since they are more about things that happen in the beginning.

Sounds great!
Here are the discussion questions at the end of the Kindle version...If you haven't finished the book, you might want to wait for these...at least the last 3!
1. Allison claims she hates vampires and believes they are monsters. Yet when faced with a choice to die or become one, she chooses to be a vampire. Given a choice between death and becoming something you hate, what would you do? How did Allison's choice make you feel about her character?
2. The Immortal Rules takes place about sixty years after a virus has killed off most of the world's human population. What do you think the biggest challenges would be for the remaining population if that happened today?
3. Kanin warns Allison that the longer she lives as a vampire, the more her humanity will slip away. What traits do you think are essential to humanity? Does Allison continue to display these traits? How does she change as the story progresses?
4. Allison's decision to contact Stick compromises her and Kanin's hiding place. Would Allison have been better off letting go of her past, or was she right to approach him? What would you have done, and why?
5. As a vampire, Allison believes she must try not to form a romantic attachment to Zeke. Do you believe they have a chance at a future together, or are their differences too great? What do you believe makes a relationship work?
6. Jebbadiah continually emphasizes that he is willing to leave one person behind for the good of the group, yet he comes searching for Bethany and Allison when they are swept away by the river. What do you think makes someone a strong leader? Would you follow Jeb in this situation?
7. Zeke, Jeb, and the group cast Allison out when they discover what she is. Yet when they are attacked, Allison jumps in to help them. How did her actions make you feel? What do you think makes someone heroic?
8. Allison feels loyalty towards Kanin and decides to try to find and help him. But before she does that, she agrees to stay with Zeke and the group until they reach Eden. Do you think her loyalty to the group was misguided? What do you think makes someone deserving of loyalty?
Love to hear all of your answers!!

Great! I'll start...

It's hard to say what I would do in that situation, but I think given the choice of living or dying most of us would choose to live. With the situation she was in she really wasn't given much time to think about what she was doing, she just knew she didn't want to die. I think it's the choices she made after she became a vampire that defined who she was and what kind of vampire she was going to be...even she admitted later that she sometimes regretted the decision she made.

Everyone is afraid of lying, those who say they aren't, are lying.
Allie wasn't given enough time to really consider her situation, she just witnessed her friends getting killed in front of her, and the third one, whom she has always taken care of, she is unaware of he is going to survive or not. So she was afraid and did not want to die.
I do not hate vampires, I would love to be one. But I would do my best not to become a zombie o.O
Ha, that's so funny
