I've been lurking for awhile but, since I'm pretty sure I'll be joining you all for the upcoming discussion of Wolf Hall, I thought I should say hello.
I'm from Connecticut and Los Angeles originally (about equal time on both coasts) but have spent most of my adult life here in Japan. My life in 25 words or less: I came here in 1986 as an exchange student, met this cute Japanese guy, and we now have two kids and a mortgage. I've always had a passion for history, both fictional and non-fictional, and I look forward to getting to know you all...and of course, more book recommendations!

Hello everyone. My name is Marissa. I'm from Buffalo, NY. I've loved history and reading ever since I can remember. I have a BA in history and an MS in Library and Information Science. My husband is a chef so I spend almost all of my spare time reading or eating (the good life!) My historical research and recreational interests cannot be contained in a small list but I can say that I've done some work in the history of Syria and Iran. Recreationally I'm an Anglophile and I am not ashamed to say that historical fiction is an obsession of mine. I think fiction is one of the greatest tools for learning and teaching history and science (so long as its accompanied by careful research of factual information.) I also have interests in art history, the philosophy of art, French language and culture, and just about anything related to Artistotle; he's my man! I can't get enough of historical biographies and I generally like to focus on social/political/alternative forms of history in lieu of military history. But I try to remain open to new experiences!

Salut tout le monde. I'm Milos, and I'm also from Montreal. My interests, historically speaking, are wide reaching but typically the social, religious, and military history of the ancient world and medieval times. Can't say I have a specialization; jack of most trades, certainly master of none!

Other than that, my other interests are broad and include the scientific (neuroscience, evolution, biology), the cerebral (philosophy and the study of religion) and the human (everything from sociology and psychology to literature and music).

Other than that I'm pretty useless (hey, that's the life of a student).

I'm Jenny and live in Adelaide, Australia. My main interests are historical fiction and biography but I do try to read a bit of everything. I'm a bit of an Anglophile, so my main area of interest is English history and royalty, and it's interactions within Europe.

I've had a bit of a look around the group and, I must say, I'm impressed! This is one serious reading group, which is great, as they are usually hard to find :-).

I'm really looking forward to reading along with the Wolf Hall group read, although I'll be reading the monster hardback I've had in my TBR pile for way too long.
