Julia (julia_heller) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Julia, 23, from Germany. Recently I got more and more interested in the history of Great Britain and the time of World War I. Before that I concentrated more on ancient history. Seems like I skipped some centuries in between :) Glad to be here and looking forward to good discussions with interesting people!

Jeremiah Sain (jfsain) | 1 comments Hiya folks! I'm Jeremiah, 26, coming to you out of North Carolina. I've always had an interest in history, more so since getting out of school (a shame I couldn't have enjoyed it as much then). I'm most focused on early American history from colonization to settling the West.

Bea | 1830 comments Welcome Julia! There's something for everybody here.

For this club as you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post itself.

Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book itself and/or author and increases the readability of your posts. This is how a cited book should look:

The Guns of August by Barbara W. Tuchman by Barbara W. Tuchman Barbara W. Tuchman

Jo Ahmed (sweetiepie82) | 1 comments Hi!

I'm Jo; I'm 29 & relatively new to reading history.

I have always had a love for classics but recently it's developed into much more than that. I will be starting a History degree in university with effect from 09/2013. I'm familiarising myself with a variety of texts and building up a reading list. So far, reflecting my interests I have reserved:

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown by Dee Brown

and

The Greatest Benefit To Mankind A Medical History of Humanity by Roy Porter Roy Porter

I'm currently searching my local libraries for:

The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang by Iris Chang

I also have an interest in politics.

I'm really looking forward to discovering my exact passions & to join in discussions :)

Sigrun (ranugis) | 16 comments Since I'm fairly new here, too, as far as posting goes, I thought I'd briefly introduce myself. I was born into World War II and after the war my parents decided to emigrate to Canada. I started collecting books, languages, education and travel memories. There are few subjects that don't interest me, e.g., books with vampires, witches and demons--though I don't mind shape shifters or supernatural powers in fiction. Nor am I terribly interesting in engineering, mining or a few other professions like doctor. I'm a blood wimp, which explains some of my dislikes. Luckily, so far I've always been able to manage my own bloody injuries--as long as I could get to a doctor asap. I have a lot of books both fiction and nonfiction. History and traveling in both are my favorites, for children's and adult books. My nonfiction interests range from astronomy to theology and travel, perhaps beyond, but I can't think of any subjects beyond a tr....

Sabo the black cat, for the IWW sabotage cat, Arlo for his love of Woody Guthrie songs, Murphy for his love of Irish beer (my father is all North Irish, and I have spent a lot of time in North Ireland). Ari, is Hebrew for lion, and Jake, is so he wouldn't get confused with other dogs in our building! :0)
