Hi I'm Pinky222 (real name Karina, but everyone has always called me Pinky anyway!), and I'm 34, a single mum, and I love reading (and the colour pink!). Please can we do a pink coloured book as a theme, haha!!
Hi
My name is Christopher, 42 years old, and I live in South Africa. I am a full-time student, studying towards a Bachelor of Arts, with English Literature and Theory of Literature as my majors.
My reading tastes were always quite eclectic, but given my studies, I have narrowed my interest down to Modern and some early Post-Modern literature, with the occasional detour into more contemporary literature.

Welcome to the group, Christopher!(And sorry for the late introduction; my Internet connection's been spotty for the last few days.)
Hello to all--I'm a 72 year old retired high school English teacher, and the idea of having a group based on themes is really fascinating.I loved teaching World Literature, and now I'm enjoying reading without having to write lesson plans! My favorite authors are Dostoyevsky, Neil Gaiman, and Haruki Murakami--so I tend to be drawn to the "dark side".
I'm also a Harry Potter fan, and my 3 children and 2 grandchildren think I should be a professor at Hogwarts :-)
Thanks for creating this group, Amara--you're very well-organized and really know how to make people feel welcome!
Welcome to the group, Julia; I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to offer any suggestions or ask any questions that you might have. (And if I don't get to them fast enough, feel free to give me an extra nudge; the notifications for this group have been wonky for me for quite a while now, so it's not unusual for me to miss comments for a few days before spotting them). And thanks terribly for the compliment! ;)
Hi, I'm a long-time Goodreads user and I'm adding new groups that have interesting discussions.
Hello everyone. I'm Monta and I'm new in goodreads. I always love read. I enjoy all genres of books. I really like idea read by theme - it's give me freedom because mostly I read in Latvian and it give me opportunity find book in my native language.
Hi, I'm Tracey from the USA. I like comedian biographies, old science fiction novels, urban fantasy, YA fantasy novels, and occasionally cyberpunk but I'm finicky. I think I need to be reading more nonfiction and may duck out of fiction books in the themes because I'm getting serious about writing and find lately I need new ideas in my head more than I need other people's stories. But I am also missing fiction to learn from other writers' writing styles, so I wish I could figure out how to fit finishing both a fiction and a nonfiction book per month into my schedule.

Hello party people!I'm just a 25-year old Austrian woman who likes to read stuff. Well. Usually books in English because of various reasons (the most important first: translations are only as good as the translator - since my English is good enough I don't need them. Also, German translations usually cost 150 % more than the English original. Wow.)
I'm not very picky about genres as long as it's an interesting book. I usually stay away from most romance novels though. It just isn't my genre. I'm okay with romance that sort of happens in a story but isn't the main plot though.
Oh by the way, I only got back into reading in 2010/2011. I read a lot when I was a kid but when I was a teen that somehow wasn't the case. I rediscovered my love for books though since I live at my own place. :')
I have to catch up with a lot of books and book series. Like, I seriously need to read more Discworld novels.
Hi, I am Darius. I am new to GR. I like to read inspirational, humor, memoirs and travel. I hope I will get to know more of you.
Cheers
Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am from Germany. Reading has always been my way to escape, but I haven't had a lot of time to really sit down and read. But now that I am on maternity leave, I expect I will have a lot of time to do what I love :) I love the idea for this book club and hope that I can contribrute to the group and discover new books/authors along the way!
Welcome, Emily! So excited that you are joining and hope you have/had a healthy pregnancy and new baby!
Thank you Jackie ! I'm happy that I found this group, its ) perfect! The pregnancy is going well, and I can't wait to meet the twins :)
Hi, I'm Beth and I'm a single mom and a children's librarian. I live and work in MA. I used to be in a book group and I miss it so thought I'd try this online group. I'm intrigued by the pick a book by theme and excited to get started!
Hi Beth! Welcome to the group! Bet it's getting cold there up in MA so it's time to stay warm inside and pick up a book :) this months theme is banned books, as you probably figured out. Feel free to jump right in!
Thanks Jackie...I've read some of the titles other members are reading so I thought I'd comment on those once the discussions begin. Banned books are a hot topic in libraries...we do a display each year with pictures of staff holding a banned book and feigning shock! People love it!

Hopefully some of the ideas from this group will inspire you!
I love this idea for a group - happy to have found it.I'm Erin, a regular on Goodreads who is obsessive about this site and books. Look forward to themed reading chat in the upcoming months.
Hi everyone! I'm Dana. I've actually been a member in this group for a long time, but I haven't been participating for quite a while. I haven't been reading as much as I would like to lately, and I think getting active again in the group would be a good way to encourage me to read more. I hope to be joining in in December!

Hi,
I'm Kerstin, 39 years old and I come from Germany. I love reading thrillers, historical fiction, mysterys and literature.
But I'm also open to all other genres. Only horror novels I do not like, but since a few years ago I discovered Stephen King for me. His novels Joyland and Mr. Mercedes I inhaled.
Otherwise, I still read like Scandinavian crime fiction and try more and more to read in the original in order to improve my English.
At the moment I read Kristin Harmel "The Sweetness of Forgetting", however, in the German translation.

Welcome! We are looking forward to having you join our group!
Hi, I'm Tim, 56 years old and live in Rockford, IL. I've been an avid reader since elementary school. I joined this group because instead of having a list of books to read each month, we have a theme which gives a wide variety of choices to pick from. I mainly read books that are in the Public Domain so I can download the books for free. I will check books out from the library at times that I'll put on my list. I read most genres, both fiction and non-fiction.
I'm Raevyn. I'm fifteen and I'm from north-central Pennsylvania. I plan to go through all the old themes (starting with Bird on the Cover) as a challenge to myself. :)
