Sabine: Some Thoughts

So, I think Sabine is kind of a stock character because I'm starting to notice her in other things i.e. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (hello, Faith). And I know that how she acts is very condemmnable....but...but...but...can an argument be made for her? To clarify...not her actions...but her as a person?
To start off with, I really dislike her actions. I think it's wrong what she does going after Nash the way she does and treating Kaylee the way she does. BUT...Nash does have a point. Whereas Kaylee has friends and other people who support her, Sabine doesn't have anyone. Just Nash. Also, she's a mara and people haven't liked her from the beginning. So I guess while I don't like the way she acts, I can kind of see why she acts the way she does.
Because people don't like her, she goes out of her way to make sure that they don't. At least, that's the sense I get. Think Kaylee. Sabine likes Kaylee and gets upset when Kaylee treats her the way she does in My Soul to Steal. And maybe given that Sabine has the kind of background that she does and the kind of gift that she does being a mara...maybe she doesn't know how to relate to girls normally? Like, is Sabine the way she is because that's how she responded to everything that happened to her and her background?
So maybe what I want to ask about Sabine is this: I'm at the point where I side with Kaylee and think that Sabine's actions are mostly horrible. But does anyone feel any sympathy for Sabine? Like, she's def a Type A steal your bf bitch, but at least she has valid reasons for being the way she is. I mean, Nash is the only hope in her life. The only thing she wants. ALSO, I kind of feel that Nash is going to be the only person that has a real shot at understanding her, which makes her kind of pathetic like Bella.
And also, just curious, who do people think is worse: Sophie, who has friends, family, popularity and is still a bitch...or Sabine, who has no friends, no stable family, and only one guy who's ever gotten her...and is also very much of a bitch?
And finally...one more question I just thought of...sorry this is so rambling....but Sabine gets Kaylee in touch with her bitchy side which makes me wonder this: can an argument be made that to get what you want as a girl, there are times you have to be a bitch?

I liked Sabine from the very beginning. Unfortunately it is a tendency for people to focus on the negative and not even bother to see beyond that.
Now that doesn't mean I Agree with everything she did, etc but I can say the same thing for myself. No one handles everything perfectly.
I think she is a fantastic character. Because of how she grew up she is tough but she is honest, even if brutally so, though sometimes the truth itself is brutal and hard to hear. You never have to wonder where you stand with her or what she is thinking because she lays it all out there which I feel is an absolutely admirable quality. I think that is really the reason so many "hate" her so much. In general people are not used to that, we are all far more used to playing games and trying to figure things out that someone so honest is scary.
I think that Sabine is far from evil or malicious. She just knows exactly what it is she wants and she will do what she has to and without regret but Again she doesn't play games to do it. She also has a good sense of justice. She is not setting out to hurt others.
What I don't understand is how people can feel they Hate Nash and Sabine but are totally OK with all the stuff that Kaylee does, she infuriated me FAR more then any of the other characters.. but that's a whole other topix lol

I hate Sabine, for me her circumstances don't really excuse most of her behaviour. Her bitchiness doesn't really bother me all that much but her hypocrisy and self righteous attitude when it comes to Nash does. She excuses all of Nash's wrongdoing and coddles him because he's going through a hard time yet she calls everyone else out on any little thing they might have done wrong. She can dish it out to everyone but as soon as someone gives her some home truths she gets all hurt. I don't think there's any excuse for Sabine trying to kill Kaylee or for her giving her horrible nightmares. I can't believe she thought that it was reasonable to do so just because Kaylee was dating Nash. I wish someone would geive her a taste of her own medicine and give her nightmares. She thinks it's ok for her to cause pain because she's a mara and yea she needs to 'feed' or whatever but to go after Kaylee, someone that she knew and who was going through a tough time was just plain cruel.
Then again if Kaylee would stick up for herself more, Sabine wouldn't get away with treating her so poorly.

I feel no sympathy for her, and if anything she is the character I want to kill off the most, even more so then Avery (and I hate him too). Often when I reading the book I'm like, what if I try to think in her point of view, "I have no friends, and everyone hates me," but you know, I don't think I would do the things she would do.
She tried to kill someone because they were competition. How she was raised, and how she grew up does no justify the act of trying to get rid of someone. Sabine is also a character who is intended to have a misunderstood background, but that is pretty b/s, I understand her pretty well. She is someone who wants friends, but wants to be alone at the same time because she doesn't trust people, and they fear her, and Nash is the only one that gets her. Nash gets her because she lets him do it, she lets him understand her, but for other characters she doesn't even care.
