Yeah, it was vastly different from Twilight! It's like Stephenie Meyer has an alter ego. Lol.But I don't like Jake Abel as Ian in the movie :( And I think Saoirse Ronan is too pretty to be Melanie. She looks more like Petals to the Moon..
Yay! I love it! For a bit I didn't like wanda too much..she was like a cared little girl but i started to like her more towards the end (:This is one of my favorite quotes:

Yeah they should! I think it would be easier to tell them apart. Hmm...that's going to be interesting! I think I liked Ian and Wanda a little more than Melanie and Jared. They were all good characters but as a couple I liked them better.

Me too, I like Ian/Wanda more than Melanie/Jared. I'm so excited to know what twists Burns will bring to the story in the next book!

I don't think he meant to be controlling, he loved her and i can understand why it would be hard for him to just step back and let it happen.Sometimes to me Wanda reminded me of a scared and naive child.

I like Wanda better too. Yeah that bothered me as well and true it must have been awkward but she was a little rude about it.

Hmm..Do you think maybe thats one reason Melanie didn't want anything to happen between Ian and Wanda, because she was jealous or just frustrated that Wanda was able to have what she herself couldnt?

I agree! Sorry for randomly popping up but Jared is a very hollow character sometimes. It's like Stephenie's view on him keeps changing all the time.Ian-Wanda all the way! I preferred Ian over Jared too.
You don't have to apologize! Anyone is welcome to comment (:I think Jared was just conflicted. Here he is reunited with the girl he loves but it's not really her, I think a part of him couldn't kill Wanda because she looked like Melanie. But then he finds out that Melanie is in there with Wanda as well and things just got more complicated and confusing for him. Maybe he was even as frustrated as Melanie.
Personally I think, for both Jared and Melanie, it was a combination of jealousy and frustration that made them act the way they did.

I agree sometimes it seemed like Jared had multiple personalities.
Jared was in an odd position, though. He looked at her and saw the girl he loved, but he knew the person walking and talking in there wasn't really her...he had to be in a majorly bad place mentally, which is why he seemed to keep changing.Ian seemed to really change, and it turned out that in the end, he wasn't shallow. He loved Wanda in a body or out...

You're welcome! I love when that happens. The same happened when I read Wicked Lovely, and its how I started reading Paranormal and Fantasy and all that good stuff, because before I wouldn't even give it a chance lol

I cant believe I let the host sit on my book shelf for 3 years!!!I recently picked up reading it again (I ran out of things to read at home and I stopped 3 years ago after the 100 pages due to how boring I found it)
It's brilliant. I read around 210 pages today and also finished it. Meyer definitely captures the emotion. I actually couldnt hold back the tears in the scene near the end. Thankfully it was a happy ending. Maybe a bit predicatable..I thought it would end like that since the beginning and since we began to feel the strong friendship between Mel and Wanda. But then again it really couldn't have ended any better way.
I look forward to the movie but kind of afraid at looking up the characters.My images are the strongest than ever in this book. But I have seen Ian...but good thing he looks quite okay. But its not about making comparisons. Movies are completely different ways of media. It involves a much different approach than just writing a book. So yes when the movie comes we can give our own opinions but also think of it from a movie's perspective and don't compare. Personally I love Ian. JARED I thought maybe he'd stop Wanda in the end....or maybe he actually did love her. Obviously not the case but at the end mmmmm a bit of tension between them? Hint of jealousy? Or when she is telling him the story. Though Ian I kind of agree was a bit controlling. That's why I thought Ian and Wanda might not happen!!! GOOD THING IT DID THOUGH. He's very likeable and ok every girl would probably want him to be his lol.That's the beauty of reading. I think Wanda did develop as a character. She defyed her own clan for the humans. Brave and strong. And It did end nicely. For the next book, I'm excited about Wanda and Melanie interacting as person to person!

I loved The Host, I wan't reading it with you guys but I've read it a few times before.Did anyone else cry or was it just me being my usual emotional self?
Immensely LOVED this book, and I'm like dying for book 2. I can't belive it's gonna be a movie! That's so cool!
