[F2F Book Discussions] June 2012: J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring. Moderator: Maria
Natawa ako sa NO READING PLAN, hahaha! I'm reading The Hobbit now, para lang maennganyo (or madismaya?) ako sa LOTR 1. :D
Rollie wrote: "Amoy Kwesi yung banner. haha"if you hover your mouse over the banner, you'll read the credits that goes to Kwesi.
Pabilisan uli parang noong Christmas party, which incidentally was held in Eton, Centris kung saan muntik na tayong masipa.
Mga taga-call center kasi tayo. Haha! :D
Where's the banner? I can't see it eh. :DGood luck to me. 10 years ago ko na yata nabasa yung Fellowship, hehehe. :P
Beejay: Naaamoy mo rin ba? :DMaria: Di ko makita.
Kwesi: Haha. :D
Wala pa ako copy. Shucks!
Problem101: I don't yet have s copy. :)Maghahanap palang. :)
I agree and I'm asking local bookstores if they have copy of the edition I like. I need to pair it with my Hobbit. Chos lang ba. Haha.
sa BS hnd ako maka-tyempo ng set, laging two towers at return of the king lang, tapos PB copy pa. walang fellowship of the ring! :(
*lurks*Maria, I saw one dito sa BS Rob Manila, P1080
Di ko lang sure kung nandun pa
Hardbound complete set
Blue, you can read this right away. Chapter 1 goes back to the history (sort of summary) of The Hobbit. So, you won't get lost.Other people read The Hobbit first before this.
Then more discriminating people read The Hobbit and The Silmarillion before embarking to this. The reason is that there is the history of the parents of the lovers in LOTR in The Silmarillion.
Beejay wrote: "Ingrid meron din nyan sa BS Mega as of Sunday. Boxed set of the books, hardbound. 2 siya."Talaga?!! Hay, makadayo nga sa Megamall. :)
Ay ang bilis may thread na. Haha. Teka hahanap na rin ako ng copy.Just realized that I'm doing GoT + FotR this month. *dies*
Grabe. Too expensive. Why not buy from BS. Dami kayang copies nito. Di na kailangan pang expensive. Kasi maninilaw rin yan kahit anong gawin nyo. Maraming naghihirap ang buhay :)Nakialam? May naghihilik doon sa kabilang department hak hak. Gisingin ko kaya :)
Favorite character ko sa book na ito, the first time I read it was Gollum.
Though si Gollum (view spoiler) ay galing sa ealier form/specie before Men called them Hobbits. :)
This story is told in the chapter: Shadow of the Past
Makikita pa ang full transformation ni Frodo by the end of The Return of the King. However for me, his stronger characteristic came out during the (view spoiler)
Ako na ang LoTR Geek! LOL! :D
My favorite comic relief in The Fellowship of the Ring is Tom Bombadil and his wife Goldeberry.Basta makikita nyo. :)
On the poems, you may skip reading them, but they give the whole book (or the whole trilogy for that matter) a "local flavor"; and like in The Hobbit, they present the characteristics of Middle-Earth's several races. My favorite poem in the book is the one written by Bilbo Baggins: A Walking Song. Kapag sinabayan mo ng Celtic music ang pagbabasa nagiging maganda siya — well, for me at least. :)

My officemate just came from BS Mega to buy me a set, kaso may nakabili na, nun lang din pagdating nya sa BS. hay.biglang naging elusive ang LOTR set ah. hehehe

That's the Booksale rule: when you want to read a book badly, suddenly it's not available. Haha! :D Oh, the irony of it all.
NOTICE:To those who want ebook copies of LOTR, The Hobbit, and Silmarillion, please PM me. A kind lady provided them in hopes of helping those who are having difficulties in procuring the book(s).
=)
I'll can check it tomorrow, araw araw ako dumadaan sa Megamall. Pag meron pa, picturan ko."Just read this now, Beejay. wala na sila dun. :( waaa!
LOL

Kamusta naman. ako nga may The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest pa. *comatose*

NO READING PLAN. Let's just wing it. :D For readers who will try Tolkien for the first time, try 1-2 chapters a day.
