For the Bloggers
Hehe, well, I like to try and promise a relaxing place, that's the kind of group you can go onto while enjoying a cup of coffee without worrying about being criticized or getting into an argument you didn't even start :P And anyone who doesn't abide by that is not going to be welcome (there are plenty other groups for them!)

Thanks Brijit. Wow, and on my birthday too! So far, I've hesitated to create a blog subscription avenue. My blogging is haphazard. I try for once a week but life keeps getting in the way.
The posts I like the best get a teaser and link on my GR blog. You can check there. And, I will send you a friend request so you can have my stuff show up on your page - or at least I think that will happen. I'm a techno-caveman and am never sure.
I'm flattered and honored by your post.
Every man a king.My latest blog post explores TV in my life and our lives. I'm old enough to have seen its developement all the way to this evening. Explore TV and how it makes us like kings and queens in our own home.

Great article, Steven! I loved the comparison of the entertainments of Feudal and Norse halls to what we watch on TV today.

Sandra wrote: "Great article, Steven! I loved the comparison of the entertainments of Feudal and Norse halls to what we watch on TV today."P.S. I checked out your profile. Your books sound interesting. I envy your output. Maybe one day I can match it.
Thanks, Steven. I hope we both have many more books out there someday--and more importantly, many readers! I guess it's the hope that keeps us going.

Intriguing article. But does tv make us king, or is tv our king?

Incidentally, I like the 7 lines from page 7 idea from a few months back. I'm sure it's no longer ongoing, but maybe we can all do something like that on our own that we can share here with each other... What does everyone think?
Oh yes, Mara reminded me that I too have redone my blog! Still a work in progress, but I am liking it a lot more now, so take a look if you wish =)

Your blog looks great, Mara!
Hazel-- those steampunk goggles look good enough to be used in a movie. You should move to Hollywood!
Haha, I have always wanted to do costuming ;). (That's kind of one of my favorite parts about writing steampunk because I get to design outfits without historical accuracy getting in the way)
You made those goggles?! WOW!!!! Have you considered opening a story on Etsy?
@ Brijit: Thanks! :) I'm rather happy with how it looks now. A bit more professional from what it was.

Yes, with a tutorial ;) It's actually easier than it looks. and I have been trying to work on starting an Etsy store with Celtic and steampunk jewelry but I always have another project going.

I found my 7, but I suspect someone else still has a slot.

Let me tell you a story about my experience working as a Psychiatric Technician and a mental hospital. It's historical because it happened about 25 years ago but it's not fiction. My latest blog post.

My father is a stalwart and upright man. Responsible to his duties, loyal to his friends, gentle in his nature. He is a man of strong values and few vices. A hero that I always disappointed because I did not feel I could ever live up to his example nor did I try to. The last thing I would think would be in his nature was that of a killer...

Jack Weatherford talks on Genghis Khan, courtesy of YouTube. A great hour spent; he's quite a talker; listen to him in the background one day as you do the household chores. Or in case you don't get around to that, I've grabbed a few of his points.

He's the author of Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World and The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire
Thanks for posting Bryn and Steven, I'd like to look at your posts when I get the chance. Sorry I haven't been around for a while, currently working on post production of my newest novel and all that that entails.

Very moving post, Steven and it show up how 1WW & 2WW soldiers kept their experiences bottled up. I sometimes wish my father had told us more about his experiences but it wasn't their way. They did what they had to do & no song & dance. Ordinary people in extraordinary times indeed.

Oh, thanks for this. I will definitely listen—and read your post—when I have a chance.

He is indeed quite a talker. Great fun.
Thanks so much for posting it!

Amen! Thanks for reading, Marie. I saw my brother the other day. We both expressed what we would miss out on hearing as well as how it might help my dad. However, we both lamented that those experiences will be taken to his grave. Ordinary men made extrordinary men by those extrordinary times.

That means he has two fangirls, plus the dame with the sexy voice who showed up to ask a question. For a guy pushing 70, not to say 75, that's a pretty good record.
I started a blog last month. http://haroldtitusauthor.blogspot.com.I write about historical figures of the American Revolution that appear in my novel, information about the attempted settlements at Roanoke in the 1580s that I may not feature in a possible forthcoming novel, book reviews that I have done, and several excerpts from my Revolutionary War novel.
I've just done the cover reveal for my new mystery novel A Case of Poisons on my blog! Come check it out. I'm also giving away signed bookmarks. http://hazelwest.blogspot.com/2013/05...
I got my son 'graduated' from college this last weekend. Yea!! My latest blog post ponders this and other 'Rites of Passage'. I offer you a personal invitation to ponder those and rites of passage that you and yours went through.http://www.stevenspen.com/blog-1/
Steven, I will check out about the "Rites of Passage." That topic has long interested me. My sister has a blog where I am a contributor. I share a lot of poetry there(some of it good and most is not good but with a sweet message). I have written a few posts that have a history theme including the post this week, which is a two part post about Confucius, The Founding Father's and Classical Literature. Next week will be part II. There is also a Civil War blogger who has had two posts. I had a post about Native American History in the past although you had to really read the book that I reviewed to get most of the overview. The two part interview is of Goodreads author Michael Austin.

Hey everyone! (sent this in the newsletter too, but I thought I would post it here as well.) I've recently started up a site for Virtual book tours which if you don't know what that is, it's where authors have tour stops on other people's blogs for promotion where they do interviews, guest posts and other things. (You can find out more on the website). What I need before I can really get it going, is for a bunch of book bloggers who would be willing to host, to come sign up. You can read all about what that will entail on the Hosting Guidelines section of the site where you can also find out how to sign up (it's very easy).
Here's the site: http://paythepipertours.blogspot.com/
Let me know if you have any questions.

It's a nice idea, Hazel, and I wish you all the best. I don't think I meet your criteria, but if that ever changes, I will let you know!

I'm really enjoying GoodReads and this group in particular. I like how supportive and encouraging it is-- unlike other groups that are a little too bossy and suspicious. Much more fun this way!
As for my blog, if you like history, writing, and exploring the creative muse, you might take a fancy to http://brijitreed.com/
I look forward to sharing comments and posts with other people in this group and am open to both hosting and offering guest blog posts, interviews, and book reviews.
Thanks and have a great day!
