Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 48 comments Okay I may be weird but while reading Gabriel's Ghost i have multiple times been envisioning stuff from the Mass Effect Universe.

I feel kind of odd for that but it's what I see when I think of space.

What type of ships and what not from other universes are you seeing while reading this book?

Jessica | 15 comments I was thinking Star Trek lol. It was the only thing I could imagine. But that's partially because I felt that the author didn't build the world enough for me

I agree! I'm left inserting my own visions of space which right now is Mass Effect's universe basically. I wish she would have added more world building so I felt like I was actually seeing what this world was supposed to look like.

Helga (helga666) | 31 comments This felt more like a Babylon 5 stile univers with the jump gates. and the ship scales, IE destroyers being bigger then cruisers. The government insurrection also felt B5 ish, so it was more that kind of universe i envisioned.

Same here. I think maybe why she didn't world build that much was because most of the story took place on a ship or in a dock so she could've been vague so people could make their own world, or use their favorites instead.

Jes (tiaama) | 110 comments I kept seeing the Serenity because I pictured the world being a lot dirtier than the Star Trek world.Serenity: Those Left Behind

i wanted to see Serenity because its my favorite universe but the western and chinese influences didn't seem to fit in.

PointyEars42 | 476 comments Hmmm... so if you took the Enterprise and compressed it down to the size of Serenity, you'd have the Meritorious?

Ren = Deana Troi (empathic + kind)
Sully = River Tam (creepy + can kill you with his brain)

PointyEars42 | 476 comments Don't forget that Ren "sees" the world the way the aliens do in Predator - in terms of temperature gradients which look like (oh hell, I'm going to say it) rainbows. I never thought I'd read science fiction and be desperate to see the word "aura".

The whole rainbows thing was driving me crazy because it was auras technically not rainbows. Left me very agitated by the end of the book.
