Jenny Cobb You have got to be kidding me. Then if he isn't playing dimitri, then who is?

I'm not sure, but I really like Jared Padalecki. He even wears dusters!!

C.C. Ben Barnes turned it down :(( I honestly can't picture any other actor that would be perfect for Dimitri's character. Why can't he just go for it.. The book was bad ass not some kiddy shows. Oh please I hope he changes his mind

Jenny Cobb So do i. He would make the perfect dimitri

I love him! Lol or Tyler kitsch

kpopfan Its true Ben Barnes turned down the role for a movie called The Seventh Son. Its a children's novel by Joseph Dalaney, Ben is playing a fourteen year old Tom Ward.

Is it just me or do you find this wierd too? Cause how is a 30 year old going to pull off a fourteen year old look???

A fourteen year old? Wow, and they say he's too old for Dimitri.

M. I don't think the movie version of the Last Apprentice will have the main character as a 14 year old. They probably aged the character otherwise they wouldn't be able to cast Ben to play it.
And I don't know where you are getting that Ben refused the role of Dimitri. What role? There isn't a movie being produced yet. When a studio decides to bank the project and they pick a director then you can start talk about casting.

Jenny Cobb Don Murphy Producer
Michael Preger Producer
Richelle Mead Writer

Jenny Cobb will that help?

M. I will only believe when there is something on IMDB. Having a producer doesn't mean a movie is being made. It just means that there is someone in Hollywood pitching the idea to studios. Those producers you mentioned have been involved with the VA movie project for a while and it can take several years until a studio decides to take on the project. I'm just saying that whoever you think would be awesome as Dimitri or Rose might not be age appropriate by the time a movie is made, if it ever gets made.
And as far as I know, Alex Pettyfer was the actor who refused the role of Jace in the TMI movie because he wanted the part of Tom Ward in the 7th Son movie that eventually was given to Ben Barnes.

You got your facts wrong, Alex pettyfer didn't refuse The 7th Son movie it was given to Ben Barnes. Not only that but Alex dosn't want to be in any books made into movies anymore its way he turned down the role for Jace wayland, and other books such as a novel called Paperboy by Pete Dexter who was later given the role to Zac Afron. The reason he turned them down was because he wanted to play other charaters that he feels right for.

The movie is still in the very beginning stages. They don't even have a writer, yet. Ben Barnes is the most popular fan choice for Dimitri, but they haven't even began thinking about casting, yet.

Exactly. These things change with the wind. Until they make an annocement that shooting has begun, I wouldn't hold your breath for this movie.

But that doesn't mean it won't happen.

Bit of Trivia for you: The first ever project that Walt Disney was 'meant' to make was...John Carter of Mars. He slated it for production back in 1937! And it arrived in 2012. How about that.

Just goes to show, 'on the shelf' doesn't mean 'in the grave'.

I didn't say he turned down the 7th son but that he turned down TMI. At least that is what was on the news, I don't presume to know if it's true or not.

Alright then. But thats the thing you'll never know til' you aleast have proof thats its true.

Kristin If there is a movie made in the next 5 years or so, what do you guys think about Shiloh Fernandez?

message 27: by Hina (new) - rated it 3 stars

Hina N. I always imagined Dimitri as this tall muscular guy, and no offense to those who wanted Ben Barnes, I just think he is a little to skinny and not as broad shouldered as I pictured Dimitri to be.

Blujeanbooks96 He turned it down *sniff sniff* ...... . *SOBS*

True Barnes is not as 'big' as Dimitri is supposed to be, but a lot of actors do a helll of a lot of body building and stuff to fit a roll. Though admittedly not good for their health.

Blujeanbooks96 Next on the list - Tyler Kitsch haha

Aileen S.L.J. wrote: "Yes. Ben Barnes did turn it down because he's commited to adapting a different book."

when did he ever turn it down???? I actually looked it up and there is no proof of him stating that> HE DID NOT WANT TO BE iN THE VA MOVIE. the only interview I found though was this> http://vampire-academy.com/ben-barnes... sorry. I'm a Ben Barnes Fan and I think he'd be perfect for the role as Dimitri and if he's too skinny for it he could always buff up abit just like taylor did for the role as Jacob. :)
