Chris Almeida (chrisalmeida) | 29 comments Every single of our books has the same issue. None actually is found under ISBN search. The ISBN numbers for our titles are issued by the Canadian ISBN Service System and we have records of their issuance. The ISBN numbers were used even for the ebooks including Kindle. Our novel in print also has a specific ISBN number. Yet, none of those links on the drop down go anywhere.
Is there some step I am missing in regard to the editing of the book? Should I insert the links to the books manually?

Thank you,

Chris

Books in question are:

Amanda | 2442 comments The Kindle edition of Cuffed at Midnight worked fine for me (although those only work for Amazon).

On the paperback(Countermeasure), are you sure the ISBN 10 is correct? The ISBN converter returned 0987921738 rather than the 0987921703 currently listed on the page.

Chris Almeida (chrisalmeida) | 29 comments I used the ISBN13 when I put in the ISBN. What should I use for conversion tool to ISBN10?

Chris Almeida (chrisalmeida) | 29 comments Another question. I learned that you have to have one unique ISBN by digital edition. So the PDF, Epub and Kindle have different ISBNs. Should each edition be added to each book? Or just Kindle and Paperback?

Amanda | 2442 comments I corrected the ISBN on the paperback. It should work now if the store sells it.

I use this converter:

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments IF there are unique ISBN's then it is fine to add each edition with its ISBN as an ebook format

Ruby Barnes (rubybarnes) | 3 comments Hi. New librarian here, would like to follow on theme. Is there any way to get an ebook to link to B&N? ASIN obviously goes to Amazon. ISBN 10 or 13 doesn't seem to go to B&N for ebooks, does for paper.
Cheers
Ruby

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments If BN are not selling the ebook with that number then no.

If it is a BN nook book, they will generally have an ISBN13 that starts with 249 and an ISBN 10 which needs to be removed as it is a fake ISBN.

edit: If you have an example that you cannot get to work please post and some one can advise

Ruby Barnes (rubybarnes) | 3 comments Hi Paula.
The ebook has a registered ISBN but no sign of an ISBN on B&N, just a BN ID which doesn't correlate to the ISBN 10 or 13. The ebook was placed there through Smashwords, maybe that's why?

message 10: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments The BNID should be in the ISBN13 field with NO ISBN10

Which book is it?

Ruby Barnes (rubybarnes) | 3 comments I see the problem. For some reason the ISBN isn't on the BN Nook Book record. Not a Goodreads problem. Will check with BN and Smashwords.

Chris Almeida (chrisalmeida) | 29 comments I believe the issue is that each format should have an ISBN number and as such, the MOBI ISBN will not be found on B&N and the EPUB (B&N) ISBN number will not be found on Amazon, of course. So by having the drop down link to several retailers most of the links will be dead anyway. Only the print edition ISBN numbers might be found in more than one location since it can be distributed through several retailers.
In our case, our digital books are only available via 3 outlets (Amazon carries the MOBI, B&N carries the EPUB and ARe carries MOBI, EPUB and PDF). As per: http://www.publishingbasics.com/2011/...
"Technically you not only need an ISBN but you need a different ISBN for each format your ebook is being offered. If you are offering your book as a mobi, epub and a PDF, you need three different ISBNs."
With this in mind, if the EPUB has a unique ISBN number and has been added to several sites, then you should be able to find the book in several stores under the same number.
But that doesn't happen. When I search for the ISBN number assigned to our EPUB, B&N finds nothing even though it was added using the correct number and it lists it in the publisher end of the site. I have contacted B&N but they are not very responsive. I will update when I receive a reply.
