My fingers flew over the keyboard in a quick manner, thirsting for secret answers. They stopped briefly to grab the cup of the extra caffeine coffee and to take a large gulp of the bitter liquid. Placing the cup back down, I continued to search for my information.
I had been at it for a good three hours since midnight, my eyes glazed over with transfixion. This was fairly normal for me and the rest of the people who lived in the Capitol. All we had to do was take a drug imported in from District 6, and we could buzz around all night long.
Blinking my eyes a few times so it would focus on the laptop correctly, I tried to get into the official Hunger Games Chatroom certified for Gamemakers and a few lucky Capitol citizens who clicked on the link at the right time. I had been trying for a mere two hours of the three I had been online, and the frustration was sweeping in quickly.
On my millionth time clicking on the link, I almost fell over with excitement. Spilling my cup of coffee, my eyes were glued to the screen as the chatroom window opened up. I yelped as the warm drink burned my pale-skinned hand but ignored it as a comment was inserted in the chatroom box.
Gamemaker #14 : How may I help you?
The chatroom was one of the instalments to help cure the wait for the Hunger Games. Getting into the link was a huge thing, since many other citizens in the Capitol wanted to get in too, and the Gamemakers weren't available all the time. I had just clicked on the link at the right time.
I furiously typed my response with a coffee soaked right hand.
Citizen #9983 : What is the arena going to be like this year?
Gamemaker #14 : You'll just have to wait and see! It'll be more marvellous and exciting then all the other years put together!
I snorted and rolled my eyes. They said that every year just to get more viewers.
Citizen #9983 : Do you have any secrets you can reveal about the 101th Hunger Games?
Gamemaker #14 : Since you seem like you can keep a secret, I'll tell you a little spoiler. This year's Hunger Games will be deadly and royal.
The person you were speaking with has now disconnected. This window will close in 5… 4…
I watched in horror as the seconds ticked down, and the window closed as if the chat had never been real. My eyes fluttered to the spilt coffee, and I suddenly felt an anger rise inside of me. Was that it? Three whole hours, and not a single good answer learned?
Running a hand through my short, neon-pink hair, I slowly breathed in and out. It wasn't all bad; I had gotten some information about the 101st Hunger Games that I was obsessed about.
This year's Hunger Games will be deadly and royal.
A high pitched chortle escaped my throat as I imagined their deaths.
