Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments I want to say Sphinx but I don't think that sounds right.

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments Nope that's lion in the rear and a lady in the front..... I know I think I just invented a new species .....you heard it here first!

message 103: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) I think you might be referring to some sort of sphinx there:)

message 104: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments The enigmatic Sphinx sits at the base of the Cheops pyramid in Cairo.
It has the head of a woman and the body of a lion. It always asks the tricky questions like " what walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 at miday and 3 at night?' if you answer incorrectly you die.

message 105: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) And like the Game of Thrones, you solve her riddle and win, or you die, simple, brutal, practical, and utterly Lannister:)

message 106: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments Yuppers!

message 107: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (lacr1mation) But, Woolfie Ned didn't want the power. & he assumed that because he was an honorable man people (Lannisters) would treat him in kind.

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments Ned knew what kind of people the Lannisters are...( Kingslayers) he just a momentary lapse, when his own children were concerned. He tried to give Cersi a way out, before a public humiliation. Cersi held all the cards in this game by making Jeoff king and Sansa his "queen". So to save Sansa and Arya he yielded, not realizing the childish revenge that Jeoff would take on him, once he came to power. He was assured he would be able to "take the Black" and live out his life at the wall, while his children would be spared.
Well, that didn't work out so well did it...

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments and people wonder why i don't like the Lannisters, exccept for Tyrion.

message 110: by Seed (new)

Seed | 64 comments AND Kevan. Say what you want about the Lannisters (my favorite family), but Tyrion and Kevan were the best of the clan. Kevan put Cersei in her place a few times and told her like it was. Tywin had his problems, but I think if ANY man could bring the splintered continent of Westeros together, Tywin would be the man.

And how could you not love poor young Tommen and brave Myrcella (who didn't cry when she got shipped off to Dorne and lost an ear)?

message 111: by Eyehavenofilter (last edited Aug 01, 2012 09:29AM) (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments Better to lose an ear than to have it bitten off?
I love me the "Lanny boys" as well! Tyrion can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, and Sansa should have stayed with him. He would have protected her. " HALFMAN! "aaarrrggghhhh!!!
(sorry I got carried away.) Ada-Lee loves her axes!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments I do like Myrcella. Tommen is becoing Cersei's puppet.

message 113: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth Geary (KagedBooks) (kagedbooks) I would like Sansa a lot more if she ended up back with Tyrion

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Maggie wrote: "But, Woolfie Ned didn't want the power. & he assumed that because he was an honorable man people (Lannisters) would treat him in kind."

No, I agree, Ned was just too damn honourable for his own good. Unlike Petyr and Varys who could see where the power lay, or where popular support lay, he went for the logical choice in Stannis. Let's face it, Stannis is a grumpy git, who expects people to fall in line because he has the 'right' to be king. Now we know what happens to people who think they have right and justice on their side. Ned had right and justice on his side, but lacked subtlety, lacked the knowhow to survive in the game. He didn't want to play but got sucked in out of his loyalty to Robert,ho was an incompetent fool. Sure he was popular, but he was never really King material let's face it, he wasn't smart, tactful or commanded sufficient respect, he was coarse, crass, boorish and insensitive, but then again, that was an improvement on the supposed insane egomaniac the Mad King was.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments Ned should have got out with the girls while he could.

message 116: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Yes, but the phrase 'felt honour bound to intervene and couldn't leave well enough alone' comes to mind:p

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments He warned Cersei, he planned a ship for their departure. He wasn't technically honor bound to stay after that.

message 118: by Ross (last edited Aug 01, 2012 07:49PM) (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Yeah true, but honestly it might have seemed like a warning before running away, I'd think he reckoned with the ciy watch on his side courtesy of the 'reliable' Littlefinger, he had little to fear. Sucks to be him sadly.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1113 comments He made a big mistake in trusting Littlefinger. Everyone knows Littlefinger can't be trusted.

message 120: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Except Ned apparently, even after, (and I think it was in the book) he said 'distrusting me was the smartest thing you've done since you came to King's Landing' I think he presumed too much on Petyr's regard for Catelyn, thinking harming me means Cat will be hurt, and Petty Baeliah doesn't want to hurt her, err WRONG!

message 121: by Eyehavenofilter (last edited Aug 01, 2012 09:24PM) (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments I have nicknamed him Littletwistedfinger for a very good reason!

message 122: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments I think I should copyright that!

message 123: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Well let's hope she's a lot more savvy if that really does come to pass:) I don't want her to be anyone's puppet of ornament as she has been thus far

message 124: by Scott (new)

Scott Moon (scottmoon) | 8 comments I agree that Sansa is getting a lot of on the job training in treachery. She really has not had many good options. In the beginning, she was even more gullible than Ned, but I doubt she trusts anyone now. She is not one of my favorite characters. On a side note, I don't think GRRM can kill Tyrion, but I have been wrong before on that count.

I actually completely agree w..."

I didn't think she'd be the first to die, I thought she was a moth, she was just so caught up in her idiotic girlishness and wilful perception of a world of heroes and dragons, that she would never be perceived as a threat by anyone, hence why she survived in the lion's den, literally where I honestly think her other siblings would have met a rather quick death. It's to her credit that she'd oblivious, she's conventional, she's a doll, and bad guys don't kill dolls, they use them, until the puppet's learns to cut her own strings or learns to play the game. As you say she's been around some of the most adept, treacherous players of the game of thrones, literally, and if she learned nothing at all from that then well, she had better hope she remains pretty and usable so that she gets shoved away in a safe corner with her Prince charming and has him some kids, but I doubt she's that obtuse:p

message 126: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments Good comparison Wolfman, she will cut her strings when she needs to, and hopefully Littletwistedfinger's ties to all that can or will save him! That .....
Is my prediction.
