When the group entered Fillory I started to visualise everything as a cartoon opposed to my more real view of them when they were back in the real world. Perhaps my imagination wouldn't stretch far enough to allow for talking bears and talking trees.

Did this happen to you?

Yes, I found this rather jarring. I don't mind talking bears and talking trees (and is it really a good idea for trees to be smoking?) but it just didn't feel like that kind of book to this point. I still went with it but it was still like reading a different book.
