Barely Breathing Banana yeah, remake eragon, then worry about eldest, if they continue without a remake of the first, itll make no sense what-so-ever...hint for the remake, try reading the book before picking the actors, it helps with-you know-EVERYTHING!

message 102: by Sierra (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sierra Hendrix I hope so! The ending had King Galbatorix slashes the map with his Dragon Rider sword and a dragon is behind it so the ending gave everyone a little cliffhanger. I saw Eragon with my dad and he said there will probably be the next movie, Eldest.

Heleshia Marbury Yes, But please have Peter Jackson OR Zack Snyder and his team start over from the beginning With Eragon

Barely Breathing Banana Or neither of them have anything to do with the series! they seriously messed it up and ruined the innocent 'movie watchers not book readers' idea of the story! =P

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

They should re-make the first one

Samantha The Escapist Sierra wrote: "I hope so! The ending had King Galbatorix slashes the map with his Dragon Rider sword and a dragon is behind it so the ending gave everyone a little cliffhanger. I saw Eragon with my dad and he sai..."

It never was a contract for multiple movies, it was always a wait-and-see kinda thing. Eragon didn't make NEAR the money it needed to merit a second movie so the cliffhanger was, if anything, wishful thinking. The project is completely axed and won't likely be picked back up. especially if it wasn't announced by now with the excitement of the last book coming out.

There would never have been a better time to try and continue it, they'll never get that chance back for the hype. So if we ever hope to see it again it'll definitely be a reboot.

First movie made me want to shoot myself. Then come back to life, burn every copy. Then shoot myself again.

message 108: by Jinx (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jinx Sapphire I personally loved the Eragon movie. The way the did the whole dragon and Eragon thing was to me amazing and I would really love a second movie. I do think that compared to the book it sucked but when you look at it like a regular movie without the book it was great.

message 109: by Tracey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tracey loved the books but the film was not great maybe if they do the second one it ll be better

Ryan Filipsic YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!

Siobhan Yeah they would hafto do a redo of the first if thay wanted to make more as the movie was completely rubbish. So I guess I just agree with most people here.

Siobhan Totally needs a remake it was rubbish but there is now way in history any film is going to be on the dot with to book, there are just too many details for films and most film makers only want a general idea so I try not to get my hopes up when they make a film of a book I like.

Sparrowlicious The thing about the entire "Inheritance" series is that you can learn a lot from these books: How not to write a fantasy novel.
I'm being serious here. Paolini obviously didn't even have test readers, otherwise you wouldn't find weird similies in these books. Vivid in my mind is still 'tentacles of power' from the first book.

Would I want a second movie?
Come to think of it, the first movie was actually really good compared to the book, even if the movie all in all wasn't that great. One of the best scenes is probably the one in which Brom dies while riding Saphira. I think that was a great change.
Some of you may not be aware of this, but it's hard in a live action movie to do things like how Eragon defeated Durza in the book. It's safe to assume that they used a most of their budget on things like CGI and special effects.
A second movie would probably not be possible because most of the plot in Eldest is a prelude. Eragon living and learning with the elves - that is usually something in a book that is shortened down to the essential scenes and not drawn out like Paolini did. It would make more sense to shorten down the plot of Eldest for the movie and put part of Brisingr in it too. Actually these books have very little plot that is drawn out with meaningless things. I'm not very interested in Eragon shaving his beard with magic or every single lesson Oromis had with Eragon. That was very tedious.
Actually, it would have been more interesting if Eldest had been skipped for most part and then told in retrospective, balancing the main plot point (the fight on the burning planes) in the middle of the book, continuing with how Eragon and Roran saved Katrina. (That should've been shortened down too! The fireplace scene was completely unnecessary!)

message 114: by Peyton (new)

Peyton Smith Ive never read the book unfortunately but i personally liked the movie i really would like them to make a second movie since the first one ended in a pretty exciting cliff hangar.

message 115: by Rain (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rain Seithr if they can make the second movie like the book then yes they should but if they cannot then i think they should not

message 116: by Angel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Angel Only after redoing the first movie Eragon. they did such a bad job on that movie it needs a do-over. the casting was horrible i must agree with Alex.

message 117: by Terri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Terri This would be an awesome franchise. And that might encourage him to write more.

Kallie~ Can'tLive-WithOrWithoutYou The movie was great until I read the books and realized how much stuff they left out, and Christopher said he didn't like the way it was portrayed. But I think under a new director and with a bigger budget, Eldest could be REALLY good. Bummed there's not another movie though!

message 119: by Arne (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arne The only way they could make the movies as epic as the books would be to spend a LOTR-amount of money on them. Give it a few years.
But certainly start anew.

message 120: by Stevie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Stevie As a movie eragon was good but was crap compared to the book. I would love to the entire series done well. However if they plan to do the who series they should make the movies like they did The Lord of the ring series.

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

the movie didn't do Eragon justice... and because not all of the books were out when the first movie was made i completely agree with the idea of remaking the movie. if they decided to make a movie for Eldest, almost half of the stuff wouldn't make sense cuz they cut a lot of important stuff from the first book while making the movie. so, yes, make an Eldest after remaking Eragon

message 122: by Morgan (new) - rated it 4 stars

Morgan Eragon is the worst book-to-movie film I've ever seen. I read the books first so I was definitely disappointed. I think it's too damaged for a remake because no one would watch it and want to be disappointed again. I just read the books and create my own movie version as i'm reading, it would be more accurate that way.

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

There should be a movie... although the book will always be better!

Brittney Morgan wrote: "Eragon is the worst book-to-movie film I've ever seen. I read the books first so I was definitely disappointed. I think it's too damaged for a remake because no one would watch it and want to be di..."

I completely agree. I read the book, saw the movie, and was extremely disapointed

message 125: by [deleted user] (new)

NO! Don't make more! The first one was bad enough!

For the love of God, why would they make ARYA a BLONDE?!?!?!

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

ARYA should look like a tough Arwen.

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

Tierney wrote: "NO! Don't make more! The first one was bad enough!

which is why a ton of us want them to remake the movie. but that was really stupid, so get where you're coming from

message 128: by Sophia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophia Remaking the movie is the only way to possibly consider a second one. Unless it ends up like the Princess Diaries. Disney messed up the first one, and the second one was nothing like anything Meg Cabot ever wrote.

message 129: by K.C. (new) - rated it 5 stars

K.C. Simply no. Just because they screwed up the first one so badly.

I actually watched the movie before I read the book and when I watched the movie I loved it! Then I read the book and the movie is almost NOTHING like the book. So if you're comparing the movie to the book I just don't see how you could make another one. But, if you're not comparing them I could see them making another one. But really when you think about it, it's been 7 years and they haven't made another one so it's unlikely that they would just start now.

message 130: by Sophia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophia That may be true, that they wouldn't start now. But remember Narnia? They did the movies at all different times. They might just get different actors.

message 131: by Thomas (new) - rated it 4 stars

Thomas Ether redo the first one or pretend it never happened and get a completely new cast/director/and every one every one else, and go from there

Carolyn I totally agree, if they are to continue the series they have got to a better job of EVERYTHING before they even consider going to the next book and making a movie. Otherwise they sould leave well enough alone.

Carolyn First off all, anyone could've freaking made that movie better, if was a freaking massacre, a unnecessary slaughter. Secondly, totally destroyed Brom's and Eragon's relationship. Thirdly, Elva wasn't even in there that is VERY crucial part through out the series, that my friend was a blunder that could not and should not be ignored. Also what of the Cripple Who is Whole? Eragon's back wound?????? Twins weren't in there Nasuada wasn't even really introduced either as Ajiad's daughter.
Elves play a very crucial part of the book and don't even get me started on Tronjhem, and the Dwarf's crown jewel that Sapphira and Arya were supposed to break? Total disapointment.... Whoever does this next if ever.. Please do this better for everyone's sake.

message 134: by Miriam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Miriam If the directors actually manage to pull off making Eldest into a movie without actually cutting the best scenes out to make it shorter, then I would be very impressed.

Eldest is really complicated. So it'll be difficult.

message 135: by Anna (last edited Apr 20, 2013 02:57PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna M. Watson The movie was the worst book-to-movie adaptation I've ever seen. It was also just a terrible movie in general. It was only an hour, for goodness' sake! In my opinion, I think someone should redo the first one, then continue it.

Agreed, just watched it yesterday and cannot understand why it gets so much flak.Sure they leave a lot of stuff out and the acting is sub-par but no worse than it is for A New Hope.

message 137: by Lina (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lina I thought the movie was a disaster. Yes, the book is always better than the movie, but still, this was extraordinary messed up. They left out some important passages and persons, and it just wasn't right. I'm afraid that they will also screw up the other movies, so I'd rather not have another. When it's about this book, my own imagination and vision is so much better.

message 138: by Anup (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anup S i really think they shld jst drop d idea

message 139: by [deleted user] (new)

i think they should have did an eldest movie... b/c i didn't understand it as i read further on. :/

message 140: by camryn (new) - rated it 4 stars

camryn no eldest is boring, i probably would fall asleep in the movie

Jonathan I watched Eragon (the movie) before I had the chance to read the book. After reading it I found that the movie deviated so far from the actual story plot of the book that a sequel will show little to no resemblance to Eldest (the second book in the inheritance cycle).

message 142: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Alex wrote: "Everyone is saying "Compared to the book blah blah blah...," and I agree. Compared to the book, it definitely sucked. And after reading the next three books, if they are going to cut back so much i..."

I agree. But they probably won't redo Eragon for a while so I would rather they do Eldest even if it is WRONG!!!

Jonathan I enjoyed the movie and would enjoy a second movie even tho it will be nothing like Eldest.

message 144: by Paige (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paige Agreed with camryn

Heleshia Marbury Peter Jackson needs to take this project on, And start from the beginning with Eragon.

message 146: by Anna (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anna The first movie wasn't good, although I liked it when I first watched it, but then I read the book and realized the differences they had made. But I'm interested in seeing what they would do if they made the other books into a movie.

message 147: by Myra (new) - rated it 3 stars

Myra The movie was horrible, and they should not proceed with making a second. It was like the used the title of the book and the character names, but completely ignored the rest. It was on of the worst book to screen transitions I have ever seen. However, if they rebooted the series, remade part 1 without destroying it, and then wanted to go on with part 2... I would be okay with that.

Cristina Gonzalez The first book and the first movie are so different, so different, I read the book, then when the movie came out, I watched it, and im like wth, there was a lot of big differences and then small ones, that people who did not read the book would not notice, but to someone who read the book would notice in a hurry, worst movie ever compared to the book. It would be cool if they redid the first movie, if they were planning on doing the 2nd movie, then they would need to redo the first one, and fix everything they messed up.

message 149: by [deleted user] (new)

I think they should remake Eragon to be more like the book, and then continue with this AMAZING series! We all know movies are never like the books, but Eragon was too far from the truth to make me sleep peacefully at night...

message 150: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn It should be made into a movie only if they can do it right. If it would be like the Eragon movie, then no. I wouldn't even want to see that.
