SOLVED. About a girl growing up I think in the 1900's with all boys as brothers. [s]

I'm looking for a book about a girl who was growing up with only her brother. I think it was jv novel. Based in the 1900's.
I remember the book cover was this girl sitting on a rock or bank fishing in over-all's and her hair in braids; black and white picture.
I also remember a part of the book that she would often go fishing with her brothers. I also remember she got a porcelain doll as a gift and her grandmother or aunt, someone old with a cain, broke it with the cain when she was being bad. I also think there is a part in the book when her mother finally has another daughter, but she gets sick when she's an infant and dies.
Does this sound familiar to anyone??? I read it in the 5th grade, early 2000's.
