Joanie | 714 comments This new email thing is making me even more obessesed with goodreads! I'm here at work (the students are off but we're open) trying to get some paperwork done and I keep getting emails about a new comment someone made so of course I have to follow the link and check it out! This is bad. I know I can change my preferences and I probably will soon but today I kind of like the distraction (shh..don't tell!)

Andrew Hi Joanie

I don't have anything much to add, but I just like the idea of leaving a comment here in the UK and distracting you from your paperwork on the other side of the Atlantic :-)

Seriously, though, a little distraction can be a good thing, especially at this time of year. I'm supposed to be working myself, but have spent the last half-hour poking around Goodreads. The way I see it, next week we can get back to paperwork and such like, but I think this week still counts as the holiday season. So why don't we just relax and let ourselves be distracted, and get back to doing some real work next week, maybe feeling a little more refreshed?

Joanie | 714 comments Well Andrew I hope that I'm able to distract you back! You're right, I should just enjoy the distraction-this week is such a joke! I always think I'm going to get all these things organized and squared away but I always spend the time talking, going to lunch, going on the internet etc. As of right now I'm done feeling bad about it! I'm just going to sit back, slack, and enjoy myself!

Joanie, you can set your preferences to group all the notices together and hit you once a day instead... I dont know if you know that or not!

message 5: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 714 comments I do Lori but I guess on some of them (like this one!) I don't have that checked off so I keep getting the email updates and responding like a trained seal! I'll have to make sure I fix it for next week when I'm supposed to be actually working!

I don't like it much as I'm in so many threads that I'm getting killed with emails daily. I have to go into each thread & change my options.

message 7: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I have no emails sent to me. I know I miss things, especially comments on my reviews but i would never get any work done if I got them. I put in a request in the Feedback group to have the option of emails/notifications sent to our GR inboxes. There was some support but Otis, personally, doesn't like it on MySpace so I guess it isn't going to happen here. Shame that, it would have been half way between no notifications and emails on everything - still the opportunity to see the response but only when you are ready to check GR.

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I stopped having them in my mailbox because I thought i had like almost 30 job offers every time I checked my inbox. I don't mind not getting them because in the end I check everything on the TNBBC anyway.

That's kinda funny Jeane!

message 10: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments It was quite depressing though. Every couple of hours I would check if someone replied on my applications and I would see that I had over 30 e-mails. So I would be thinking, for sure one e-mail must be job related......it was more complete TNBBC related.....so I would end up spend again time here instead of looking for a job!
