colleen (colleenfl) Read 50 Books from 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die (2006 edition)

I've been doing this challenge for a few years now but there are still plenty of books left on the list I haven't read yet so I can keep on with it for a while yet. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the full list.

1. The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien 1/8/2012
2. Tipping the Velvet - Sarah Waters 1/26/2012
3. The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner 3/3/2012
4. Cakes and Ale - W. Somerset Maugham 3/4/2012
5. A Sentimental Journey - Laurence Sterne 3/13/2012
6. Crome Yellow - Aldous Huxley 3/24/2012
7. Under Fire - Henri Barbusse 4/6/2012
8. Fantômas - Marcel Allain 4/7/2012
9. The Good Soldier - Ford Madox Ford 4/10/2012
10. Rashomon, and Other Stories - Akutagawa Ryunosuke 4/12/2012
11. Silas Marner - George Eliot 4/16/2012
12. The House of the Seven Gables - Nathaniel Hawthorne 5/1/2012
13. The Blithedale Romance - Nathaniel Hawthorne 5/3/2012

colleen (colleenfl) 1. The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien 1/8/2012

This book was a 3 for me. It was okay but nothing great.

2. Tipping the Velvet - Sarah Waters 1/26/2012

Another 3 star read. The details on life in Victorian England were interesting.

3. The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner 3/3/2012

One star for this one. It took me two weeks to get through it and I found it rather jumbled and boring.

4. Cakes and Ale - W. Somerset Maugham 3/4/2012

The best list book I've read so far this year. Four stars. A "satire of London literary society between the Wars." A quick read.

5. A Sentimental Journey - Laurence Sterne 3/13/2012

Another 3 star book. It was an enjoyable read but not a standout. Similar to several other books on the list, the hero travels and has misadventures.

colleen (colleenfl) 6. Crome Yellow - Aldous Huxley 3/24/2012

This was a short, easy read. Interesting but nothing really special.

7. Under Fire - Henri Barbusse 4/6/2012

A portrayal of life in the French trenches in WWI.

8. Fantômas - Marcel Allain 4/7/2012

4 stars. The first in a series of French thrillers with murder and jewel robbery.

9. The Good Soldier - Ford Madox Ford 4/10/2012

Another 4 star read. That's two in a row!

10. Rashomon, and Other Stories - Akutagawa Ryunosuke 4/12/2012

A collection of stories. Japanese literature (in translation)
