The talented author of historical fiction, John Putnam, spent a lot of time digging into the gold rush and many of his stories take place back then. I am thrilled to find his review of my novel, Rise to Power:
★★★★★ A powerful look at a future king., August 19, 2015
By John Putnam
In THE RISE TO POWER Uvi Poznansky delivers a powerful look at young David, the future king of Israel, as he begins his court life as a musician to King Saul. Ms. Poznansky then dives deep into the mind of this amazing historical figure and shows us the deep emotion that fills him before his his coming struggle against the giant Goliath and how his success causes King Saul to turn away from him. This is an absorbing read and I highly recommend it. I look forward to the next episode in the story.

Author of War Songs, Grady Harp describes himself as being ever on the alert for the new and promising geniuses of tomorrow. ★★★★★ ‘Right there you drew across my heart you carved an arrow in my bark’
By Grady Harp HALL OF FAME TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE on August 21, 2015
Uvi Poznansky wears a coat of many colors. Originally from Israel where she studied Architecture and Town Planning then moving to the US where she studied Computer Science and became an expert in Software Engineering, Poznansky managed to combine the design elements of two studies into unique formats. And she has accomplished the same with the other side of her brain - making visual her ideas (she is an accomplished painter, drawer, and sculptor who has enjoyed exhibitions both in Israel and in California, her present base) and making words in poetry and in short stories and children's books.
For this very tender little story Uvi uses her talent as a watercolorist and graphic designer (letterer) to make this book a work of art as well as a love story between a child and a tree. The tree narrates the rhyming tale that begins with the quiet of the forest and then along comes a child how climbs the tree, finds the trees hollow, leaves a make of love on the trees bark and departs. Years pass and the tree grows old and eventually chopped down and sent to a mill where it is made into paper – the very paper on which this tale of tenderness is written.
Leave it to Uvi to create a story to which children and adults can relate and one that teaches some important lessons to children. Art and rhyme blended with love. Grady Harp, August 15

I am thrilled to find a truly perceptive review for my children's book, Jess and Wiggle, written by top Amazon reviewer and author Sheila Deeth. ★★★★★ Fun with style for child and care-giver to enjoy
By Sheila Deeth VINE VOICE on August 11, 2015
Written in a cool dancing font, sure to intrigue children and parents alike, Uvi Poznansky’s Jess and Wiggle feels like a perfect cross between my mother’s old books and my children’s new. The rhyming text is clean and smooth, easy to read aloud, and fun. The facial expressions of miserable Jess are so sweet and convincing. And the blend of old-fashioned painting and drawing with bright cut-out stylization makes for a book whose pages are truly a delight to turn.
For added enjoyment, in the kindle edition you can click on words to see them in fonts easy enough for a beginning reader to enjoy. Plus the poem’s repeated in simple text at the end. Jess and Wiggle converse, they dance, they play, and it’s all nicely vague for any care-giver to share with a child. A beautiful book for adults and children who appreciate the fun of art and words.
Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy and I offer my honest review.

For a whole month, fearing that a scandal may erupt, I avoid sending for her. It is the beginning of summer, and the heat is unusual, unrelenting—but I avoid going out onto the roof, which is where a light breeze can offer some relief, because it is there, more than any other place, that I ache for her. I whisper her name, and burn up at the mere sound of it--

JESS AND WIGGLE is one of her newest and freshest books yet. More concerned with the visual than the story Uvi provides all the illustrations for this delightful little rhyming tale – richly colored hand made collages as well as paintings adorn these beautiful and fanciful pages.
The story concerns young Jess who rarely smiles and never laughs until she encounters Wiggle, a ribbon like creature with whom she interacts In myriad ways in a test of who will laugh. Of course the winner is the recalcitrant Jess, but it is the artistic fun things she does with Wiggle that make the reader laugh way before Jess gives in!
This is another treasure form Uvi Poznansky – a perfect entertainment and lesson for children and adults alike. Grady Harp, August 15

First, thank you for writing to me. I think that a memoir is one of the most difficult forms of the craft of writing, because you are the hero of your story and have to stay close to the facts and try not to offend others.
My best advice is to find a group of writers who, like you, are interested in writing memoirs. There are many courses like this around. You can then read a few pages and listen to how the audience responds, not only the comments at the end of the reading, but even more so, are they bursting in laughter at the right places? Wiping a tear when your story is sad? Gasping when a surprise is revealed?
And equally important is listening to their stories, and figuring out the literary devices they use that might be of value for you to learn.

Just discovered a great new review for my historical fiction novel, Rise to Power:
★★★★★ A Time Old Tale, Told With An Astute Voice
ByAmazonCust49on September 3, 2015
Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase
Reading Uvi Pozansky is like dipping one's toe into a seemingly calm lake. At first it feels motionless, yet the deeper one goes, the more turbulent and complex the waters become. So it is with Mz. Pozansky's lovely, astute, and highly analytical writing.
Of course, most of us have heard the story of David versus Goliath. But in "RISE TO POWER (Book of David), the author takes a different path. Much like the composer Salieri in "Amadeus" or the main protagonist, Benjamin Britten, she begins the book with an older, hopefully wiser King David, forced into quarantine and all the while ruminating about his life. A bountiful life filled with his beginnings as a court musician to King Saul, his private ambitions, and ultimately, his lust for power overriding everything.
As the book progresses, we realize this is a great story about the young lying in wait for the old to decline--a time old tale, told this time as an ancient lore (albeit with a lot of modern phrasing), where Philistines, concubines, and battles reign supreme and human foibles are presented for what they are––man's weaknesses throughout time. VERY well told!

We turned the corner and there she was, looking quite substantial in her wide, matronly body, radiating heat in the mid-morning sun. She was graced by the ample roundness of the front and rear fenders, which were shaped as puffed-out cheeks. The grille was a three-part affair with a tall center that nosed its way down in-between twin nostrils, low down on the fenders. I imagined that she knew I was coming for her--

Lovely new review for my novel, The White Piano:
Wonderful and fascinating story
By Bookworm on September 3, 2015
This book goes hand in hand with the author's "My own Voice" and the two work very well as a set.
The core of the story is Lenny's marriage to his second wife, Anita, a much younger version of his ex-wife Natasha, who has early onset Alzheimers. While one book follows the narrative of Anita, we now hear the story from Ben's side, who is Lenny's estranged son.
His observations cast a new light on the situation. His perspective, aided by letters from his mother, bring new revelations and peel further layers of the family. The author also uses tape recordings in the book, making this a very accomplished piece of story telling. While I don't often like 'clever' or constructed plot devices, here it works extremely well.
The author has a unique sharp and poignant writing style and with the change of perspectives she gives the characters further depth. Great writing, a fascinating premise and wonderful insight in human nature make this a read very worth your time.

Uvi Poznansky's, 'My Own Voice,' is a creative, gripping and deeply moving tale of a young girl coming of age in unfathomable emotional circumstances.
In Anita, Poznansky's has created character who lingers long after the final paragraph. She makes her live through masterful use of dialect, exquisite interior monologue and attention to detail.

I’ve not been so captured for a long time.
I am most impressed with Uvi Poznanski’s writing style, the finesse, the in-depth character drawing and…well, everything about this book. I’m scratching for words to further describe how engrossed I became with the author’s character of the boy, and then youth, David who would be king. I have known the
stories from childhood, but to have them teased out in a tangible way as this author has done has left me feeling blessed to have bought this ebook.

Jaspreet Mann Kanwar is a poet, author, and storyteller. She is the author of The Road in the Sky (and other books.) I am thrilled to find her wonderful review of my novel, The White Piano:
★★★★★ I have always loved Uvi Poznansky’s work and ‘The White Piano’ begins on a perfect note
I have always loved Uvi Poznansky’s work and ‘The White Piano’ begins on a perfect note-“About a year ago I sifted through the contents of my suitcase, and was just about to discard a letter….” The reader is intrigued and sets on a beautiful impressionable journey filled with delightful stories. The beauty of this work lies in the fact that it can be read as a standalone novel or as a series of events that can be deciphered separately. Personally I really liked ‘She is looking out the window’. This particular piece has the intensity of a silent stream, as characters talk about trivial matters on the surface, but there is a storm brewing inside their hearts. It is very evident from the simple conversation that is tinged with so much that remains unsaid. ‘I think I can see that eye. It looks in, unblinking. It can read the signs of our silence. I want to speak— but find myself unable’. The unsaid is so powerful that it is like flicking light-switches with wet fingertips. As I delved deep into the pages, I got a vivid glimpse of people and characters that are not only human but also immensely lovable. They suffer from all the weaknesses that shroud most peoples’ lives and their joys and sorrows are something every reader can relate to. This novel is a unique mix of ordinary and the extraordinary. ‘The White Piano’ by Uvi Poznansky has the power to unravel situations that are complex as she brilliantly peeps into the minds of her characters in an attempt to disentangle all complexities. ‘There it is, that sound again. And again— just like last night— it is only a whisper...’ This book may be a gentle whisper, but it is enough to satisfy a hungry reader who loves to delve deep into the emotional psyche of people and live every moment of this gift.

Designing the cover for the audiobook edition of The White Piano I pictured the viewer on the other side of a grand piano, watching Ben, reflected in the surface of the instrument, listening to the last reverberations of the musical notes, which evoke memories in him. His hands are lifted in awe--

What a beautiful review by Valerie for my children' book, Now I am paper:
★★★★★ A Watercolor of Words, September 14, 2015
By Valerie (Verified Purchase)
And what an exquisite painting this story is. Not only are her words vividly drawn, but the book is richly enhanced by her own illustrations, breathtaking and elegant, yet simply expressive.
I rank her up there with Tomie dePaola, Eric Carle, and Shel Silverstein. High praise from one who grew up on, and passed forward Silverstein’s classic to all my progeny. Some could say this is a retelling of The Giving Tree, but I say this is so much more. Ms. Pozanski's eloquent prose and exquisite illustrations bring a new and uplifting twist. It becomes very much a circle-of-life tale. The message, the prose and glorious illustrations create a true celebration of life.
This book is the single best children's book I've read in years. As a mother of eight and grandmother of ten, I speak with authority. I applaud Ms. Pozanski's immeasurable talents and am ordering copies for my grandchildren for Christmas. What better gift than a celebration of life? Many thanks, Ms. Pozanski for giving us this tale of life, of hope and renewal.
MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to children of ALL ages.

My new novel, The Music of Us, harkens back to WWII and its music. To write it I researched thousands of songs from that era, and chose about a dozen where the lyrics and the feel captured the mood at one point or another in my story. Then, just as I thought I had put the finishing touch on the book, no! A problem! Suddenly I realized--

Barbara Ehrentreu says, "Nothing in my life ever goes smoothly. My focus is on young adult and children's authors, but occasionally I will bring you an adult author. It is my pleasure to introduce new books and authors to my readers. Writing is my life!" I'm thrilled that she invited me for to talk about my trilogy, The David Chronicles, and about what inspired it. Here is the beginning of my answer:
"The entire trilogy is greatly inspired by painting and sculpture throughout the history of art, depicting the story David, who is an exceptional historical figure with great gifts, facing great temptations in love and war. You can easily read each one of the three volumes as a standalone novel, yet the themes of power and love run through the entire trilogy, allowing you to witness the drastic change in the main character from youth to old age. I find this transformation fascinating and hope you will too."

★★★★★ Wonderful and fascinating story
By Mr R Cheal on September 3, 2015

Uvi Poznansky is an author I follow for one simple reason, her writing is refreshing and her style is unique in providing a reading experience that is both satisfying and entertaining. This latest installment in her catalog of work once again lives up to my expectations. With masterfully rich and complex characters, "My Own Voice," is written from Anita point of view giving the reader an inside look at Anita. Not to spoil anything, I will say that reading the works of Uvi Poznansky is a treat.

Job stayed with me awhile. Again and again he mumbled, in his inexplicable, pious manner, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I depart.” Men! Always thinking of themselves! All the while there I was, flat on my back, in need of some attention, and some clothes, too!

This review is from: A Peek at Bathsheba (The David Chronicles Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
Uvi Poznansky’s body of works with any art form she uses is magical. In this story, the second in the David Chronicles, Uvi applies her extensive knowledge of ancient Biblical times to craft a lyrical, rhythmic piece that could easily have been written from a real-time perspective during the days of David and Bathsheba.
The fluid and imaginative words in the pages immerse the reader inside the hearts and minds of not only the characters of the Old Testament but also the daily lives of others during the time period. Complex and colorful, Uvi expertly guides the reader back to a time long since passed, yet delicately weaves the age-old struggles of life, children, marriage, aging and relationship issues we all experience today. Reading this book was like grabbing a companion guide to The Psalms! The banter between the main characters was enjoyable, the descriptions beautiful and realistic.

This was written by one of my favorite authors, Uvi Poznansky. My Own Voice (Still Life with Memories Book 1) is another fine example of her story telling ability. It’s as if she paints the story, allowing the reader to find the lush details among the greater canvass of the world she creates. An artist inviting us in to a secret place that leaves us different once we have been there. We first meet Anita at seventeen and follow her as she makes mistakes, learns, falls, grows and questions. The author explores and illustrates the emotions that drive her characters in their decisions and relationships. This is truly a richly woven story. Highest recommendation.

Here, under this cover, it is an eerie sight. One cloud of murk after another drift aimlessly in the air. In the thick haze I step among rocks and bodies, barely noting the difference between one immobile shape and another. I am finding my way by touch rather than by vision. All the while I am grateful, so grateful that the vultures are nowhere in sight. In the distance I spot an outline of a dog here, a dog there, sniffing the remains with their tails between their legs.

In 1970, Lenny can no longer deny that his wife is undergoing a profound change. Despite her relatively young age, her mind succumbs to forgetfulness. Now, he goes as far back as the moment he met Natasha during WWII, when he was a soldier and she—a star, brilliant yet illusive. Natasha was a riddle to him then, and to this day, with all the changes she has gone through, she still is.
“Digging into the past, mining its moments, trying to piece them together this way and that, dusting off each memory of Natasha, of how we were, the highs and lows of the music of us, to find out where the problem may have started?”
To their son, Ben, that may seem like an exercise in futility. For Lenny, it is a necessary process of discovery, one that is as tormenting as it is delightful. He often wonders: can we ever understand, truly understand each other—soldier and musician, man and woman, one heart and another? Will we ever again dance together to the same beat? Is there a point where we may still touch?

Karl Wiggins describes himself as an author, humourist, raconteur and (unfortunately) master of dysphemism. I am thrilled to find his review of my novel, Rise to Power:
★★★★★ What an absolutely cracking read this was!
By Karl Wiggins
I started reading this book a week or so before I went away on holiday, and after just a few pages I decided to put it aside and wait to read while away. It is that good.
We all know the story of David, the musician who became a hero by killing Goliath, but to view that event unroll through his own eyes is nothing short of magical. This was a book that I never wanted to end.
David had been promised King Saul’s daughter, Merav, if he killed Goliath. Merav is lovely and bubbly with a bust that points to the stars,’ but instead of Merav, Saul takes the opportunity to offload his other daughter, Michal, whose chest is as flat as a board. “Who on earth would want a flat-chested, grumpy Jewish princess like her?” asks David, but it’s Michal he ends up with.
Unsurprisingly, David’s imagination still conjures up visions of Merav, but her cleavage is even more revealing and her bust even riper, and so to compensate for having the flat-chested daughter dumped on him David starts sleeping around. And who can blame him?
The story finishes off with the tale of Bathsheba, who by all accounts was well fit. For those who aren’t familiar with her tale, David spotted her bathing on the roof of her apartment, flashing a bit of this and that, and …. well, I’m sure you get my drift. David’s over there in a New York heartbeat, and before you know it Bathsheba’s pregnant.
Well now, David’s in a bit of a tiz-woz because she’s actually married to one of his soldiers, Uriah the Hittite. So he’s obviously got to get rid of him. He sends him off to war with instructions to his generals that when the action hots up they’re all to leg it on out of there and leave old Uriah stranded, which they do. Uriah was a bit of a numbskull and when he was told to hold the fort on his own while they all pegged it to safety, he’s up for it.
Not for long, of course, because before you know it they’re all on him, “Uriah, ye dobber, tak' 'at ye twat, an' 'at, ye Sasanach heathen. Kick his heed in! Chop ay his heed!” and it doesn’t take long before it’s the end of old Uriah.
David gets beautiful Bathsheba, who gives birth Solomon, of all prophets.
I’ve always loved the tale of Bathsheba but trust me when I tell you that Uvi Poznansky is a master storyteller and writes her narrative much eloquently than I ever could.
All in all, this book (the first of three I believe) offers a unique insight into the early years of King David, and I absolutely loved it!

I'm trilled to visit Bella Harte at The Saturday Showcase on her blog, where she asked me about my now novel (released yesterday) The Music of Us. She asked me how I came up with the name of the series, Still Life with Memories. Check it out:

★★★★★ A Very Touching Portrait

Having read Ms. Pozansky's Apart From Love (Still Live With Memories Vol. 1 and 2) and gotten involved with her characters, I wanted to read her new book, The Music of Us (Still Life With Memories Book 3). To my surprise and delight it turned out to be a prequel to that first book. Why delight? Because it not only fully explained the background of how two of those original protagonists met, it also helped me understand the reasons why the things that happened to them later on in Apart From Love occurred.
This new book is a very touching story of two young people and the joining of their souls after a circumstantial meeting and a friend playing Cyrano de Bergerac. Using her signature lyricism––poetic, poignant, yet simple and straight forward––Poznansky shares some fine descriptions of WWII: a live concert gone awry, a U.S. training camp and later on, England in ruins.
We also find out why her male lead later becomes a writer, her female lead's need to break free from her dominating mother, and the girl's father's tragic demise that foreshadows her own future. And all of this, wrapped up in the girl's musical talent, which is both precocious and stunning. A very lovely, powerful read.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting the gifted narrator of my romance novel, The Music of Us: Don Warrick. Don is an actor who spent his entire life presenting the written word, and is second to none in his storytelling.

He can hear me inside, for sure. He can hear every note of this silvery music. It ripples all around him, wave after wave. I can tell that it’s starting to sooth him. It’s so full of joy, of delight, even if to him, it’s coming across somewhat muffled. Like a dream in a dream, it’s floating inside, into his soft, tender ear--

Just yesterday—when I laid there in bed, bleeding all day, not even knowing where I was—that was when at last, the dream found me.
In it, I find myself in a public place, which is strange to me—even though I know, somehow, that I’ve already been here. I’ve visited this place, perhaps the night before—
