I remember wearing leg warmers with mini-skirts! I had a variety of colors of each. Next was the ripped sweatshirt, ala Flashdance, followed by Madonna Floozy Chic.

so for some reason this conversation about leg warmers made me think of those "snuggies." has anybody seen those infomercials? They are blankets with sleeves for your arms. hehe...they make me laugh. You should get one Fiona!
I didn't wear the mini-skirts, but I certainly had the leg-warmers and ripped sweatshirt a la Flashdance!I remember a few seniors saw that movie and in about a week the trend was all over the school.
For some reason knickerbocker trousers were also in for girls at that time. (Also handy when we were doing Oliver!)
Oddly enough, I watched part of an episode of Family Guy the other night in which Lois comes in for their role-play night dressed as Grimace. I thought it was hilarious!

I am so mad right now. I have been a girl scout leader for over 5 years. My daughters have both been in Girl Scouts.
Okay so my youngest daughter's troop is going on a vacation and they are excluding her 100%. They won't let her go on the trip, we paid our dues we've helped earn money. I am so angry!
Needless to say Girl Scouts of the USA just got a nice little email from me.

That jumpsuit thing is awful! Sorry Rachel. But if does look warm. I don't think I would ever go out in public in it.
Fiona maybe that is what the bodymuff looks like.

Because she has missed meetings because of doctor appointments and because we didn't sell cookies this year. I had a child in the hospital so the last thing on my mind was selling cookies. The thing is that you can't exclude a child for ANYTHING. And Cookie sales are 100% optional. If they need money for the trip all they need to do is ask! I actually pulled out my leader manual last night and there are a lot of rules that her leader is violating they can't disallow any child to go to any activity at all. Needless to say GS of the USA is going to get a very nice letter from me.
Is there someone higher up that you can report her to? That sounds so unreasonable to exclude a child for the reasons you stated.
YIKES I'm just catching up on this thread!Petra - I am so sorry that your ex is such a flaming bastard. I am furious for you, that is ridiculous, with all you've had to put up with from him. I love that thorn tree picture and hope he gets one right up his @$$. I hate it when people don't take responsibility for their kids. They don't ask to come here people!!!
Jeane - I really hope you work it out at work, but I think Rachel's advice is perfect. I did it myself, same thing, caring way more about my boss's clients than my boss did. All it did was help wreck my relationship with my daughter and I'm paying for it now. So...don't make yourself crazy for those people. No job is worth it.
Emilee - My dau. used to be in Girl Scouts too, that really sucks. I would be ticked off too. I feel your pain!
Rachel - love those pictures #974 and #979!!
Fiona - I'm gonna start picturing you typing on your laptop with a Grimace face
:)
Hope you warm up soon. Why not pick up Outlander and see if Jamie can put some heat in your fingers????
;)
I am actually writing a letter to the CEO of the girls Scouts of the Unitied states. This troop excluded another girl who is just as upset as my daughter and their family is very poor. she appreantly only sold 2 boxes of cookies and they were told if they didn't sell 20 they couldn't go. So we both paid our $40.00 for troop dues plus $10.00 registration fee. My daughter and the other girl aren't getting anything. CEO will hear about this!!!!!!
Especially when it's a kid!

good for you Emilee...keep us posted on their response, please. I am curious to know how they are going to handle this one.

That was okay but not the lunch idea. Simple reason, we have to be on site so I can't say then I take less lunch. So he said that if I don't find a way to come sooner I can come like I do now and stay half an hour later. Which is okay because, I wouldn't work for free the 15-20 minutes that I work now when I arrive, becasue I arrive too early and I will still leave 15 min sooner than now. But I will check in the weekend if there is another way to come on time anyway.

Would be great to have them here now.

I am actually wearing them now and they are very good for me because I always have cold feet, but this way it blocks the cold going to my legs and knees and I feel warmer. They also look great!

I think if that happened to my kid I would be storming someone's office or making some nasty phone calls.
Jackie that is what I want to do but you get more flys with sugar then a club.
I was ranting like a lunatic last night.

can I add my 'father' with that, jsut that he seems to be even worse...might be a good match. How is your father?
Oh and Rachel, I feel for you too, but I didn't have anything to add to what you already said. I was wondering if he was retired or looking for something to do, and then you explained that so...I didn't know what else to say. Sorry for you & your husband tho.
I think you should relax! I would be freaking in your situation too, but from past experience, I know that new "security" issues very rarely have any personal reason behind them. Some "higher up" gets a bug up their butt about how this or that could be more secure, and they try it! It's not always better, and a lot of times it's a pain, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with you! Is your co-worker in a position higher than yours, even nominally? Have you been given any new tasks, exclusively, lately?
Yesterday I decided to drive to work in the snow, something I NEVER do. The traffic makes me very nervous. It's the first time at this school and I'm to be there for 10 days so didn't want to get off on the wrong foot.I figured there was only one main road that I had to be on and they have just changed it to an overpass so no lights, I should be fine, just take my time.
I get across the overpass and just as I think I'm home free, the traffic is all backed up! Seems as if a CORVETTE on my side and 2 front wheel drive vehicles on the other side can't make it up the hill that has turned to ICE! Now I'm really scared. I have to stop behind the line of cars while the others are sliding all over and trying to make it to the top of the hill. After about 10 minutes, and I'm contemplating turning around and going home, but there is no way to do that, the front wheel vehicles get out of the way and traffic can get around. I wait for a break in traffic and I go making it around the corvette who is still sliding all over in one area. I make it the rest of the way and sit in the parking lot for a while before I feel calm enough to go inside. But tell me, why would you drive a CORVETTE in the SNOW and ice???
Next time, I'm calling in sick!
You know what sucks?Being sick. On Valentine's Day.
On the bright side, I got The Jane Austen Book Club!
I. Did not. Buy it.
Promise.
I read that book. It was okay. Not great, but quick, so worth the effort. I was VERY pleased with the ending. It was exactly what I was hoping for.

Emma, I used Lemsip and lots of vitamine c to get through valentine without feeling to ill. And probably automatic pilote while I was walking kilometres at the sea. When we came home in the eveinig I did had to go and lay a bit on the bed but I made it and now I have today to do calm and get through it. I did take again the medecine and the vitamine c is going my way again. I noticed that this way helps very well and I don't have to start going to doctors and use all kinds of medecine...
I'm glad that worked for you Jeane! Feel better! This is actually one of the less painful colds I've had, so I'm happy about that. ;)
Ugh... Here's a rant. I got in to work today at my normal time (1:30p) and found out that I was supposed to be in at 11:30a! Nobody mentioned the change to me, no email, nothing. I am so aggravated! I don't mind changing my schedule, I'm flexible, but I don't think its too much to ask for a little courtesy in ASKING me if I can change my shift before just changing it!
Rachel wrote: "Lol, Paula. If I didn't know better, I would think that you lived in Seattle and had been in the car with me on the way to work two months ago. People are idiots in the snow. Finally I was so sc..."OMG Rachel, I would have had to have had CPR right there!!! How awful for the people on the buses!
Those bus pictures are awful! I'm glad I wasn't on the bus.
Becky: I've had people change shifts on me before. I so empahtize with you.
Jeane & Emma: I always do extra garlic, vitmin C and lots & lots of tea. Always makes me feel better.
