SOLVED. Cover with snowy owl, a snow covered castle, and possibly a woman [s]

I'm looking for this book that I can't really remember what genre it is. I think it is a fantasy and possibly a historical fantasy.

The only things I remember of it is that the cover had a snowy owl on it and I think a snow covered castle. There might have been a woman on it too, but I'm not sure about that.

The first part of the book begins with a woman who is being painted by an artist. I think they have an affair, but I can't remember. I didn't ever finish the book so I don't know more than that.

Thanks if you can help me find it. I really want to try reading this book again as the last time I tried I think I was too young to really understand it.

I haven't read it, but could it be Lord of Snow and Shadows: Book One of The Tears of Artamon by Sarah Ash?
