In 2016, I just want to read more. 2015 was not a good year for me, so I hardly read any books (the ones I did read, were mostly re-reads). So I want to change that in 2016, my aim is to read at least 100 books next year.

Sabrina, I'm sorry 2015 hasn't been a good year for you. I hope you reach your goal of 100 books read for 2016.
While I did meet my goal of reading 100 books for 2015, I struggled with reaching it in the last 2 months of the year. I'm going to be more realistic and not push myself so hard for 2016. So my goal is 77 books (7 being my favorite number).
I'm challenging myself to read at least 12 books that were finalist for a mystery award. Looking forward to a great year with the Edgars, Agathas, Anthonys, Leftys and Macavitys.

I have very lofty reading goals for 2016. First I want to read 50 books total, 12 Stephen King books I have not read, I want to read the Divergent Series and 6 non-fiction titles. I want to complete every reading challenge I sign up for, and to find a home for all of the books I have read that are sitting in boxes to be donated.
I either take my books to a used bookstore for credit or a library. Other options are donating them to a senior citizen home or a homeless shelter, something like that. Maybe even one of those places where kids congregate after school. Or you could join Bookcrossing. You put a sticker in the front of the book and then you leave your book somewhere. Then you can track where your book travels to. I tried it. But nothing ever happened around here.
Another place to leave them is at your local blood donation center.
I've been away for a while. I didn't have much time to read and I didn't give myself time to, so my biggest resolution is to simply read more! Everyone else good luck on your reading resolutions!
Well my 2015 GR challenge said I had 83 books. I think it's got to be more than that, but I was lacking in terms of keeping track. My goals are to read more than 83 books this year and take better care of my GR shelves.
I haven't really decided on definite reading resolutions for 2016 yet. I definitely want to set my goal of completing 80 books (same goal for 2015 and I had completed 91 books). I also want to finish off the Read Around the USA Challenge and World Trip Challenge, both challenges on this group.
I also neglected my favorite series last year. I had a goal to read one book per month from my favorite series so that I would stay afloat. I only read 6 for the whole year. On the flip side of that, I read a lot of new authors and series. So, something's got to give eventually and it is impossible to keep up with old favorite series and get into new authors and series.
I have two anthologies that have been sitting on my Kindle for a while. One is Mark Twain, and one is Agatha Christie. My goal is to do at least one from each a month. That should make a big dent in it. I have made a schedule to do the readings, and I will be making them fit into a lot of the challenges I will be doing this year.
Good luck with your goal, Valerie. I've read a few by both authors, and have found some easier to get through than others -- particularly with Twain -- but haven't read a book of theirs yet I truly did not like.
My 2016 reading goal is to finish up several series where I only have 1 or 2 books left. Most of the ones I've picked don't seem to have new books coming out either so it's really finishing not just getting caught up at the moment.

I added the remaining books from all my series to shelves (one for cozies, one for police procedurals, etc) and I'm trying to madly get those numbers under control.

Hopefully I can get most of these knocked off the list.
I did the same thing one day - I went through and added all of the series that I'd started (in all genres) to one big shelf. It was huge. So I split it into genres so it looks better and my goal is really to finish off only one or two series and then move off to another series. The problem is I've started some long series - Phryne Fisher, Amelia Peabody, Hercule Poirot, Aunt Dimity. I would have been much smarter to find the shorter series and read the last book or two and move on! Last year, I managed to catch up on the Blackbird Sisters and I'm almost there on Sarah Booth Delaney.
I also went through and made some hard decisions on whether or not I really wanted to continue with some series and cut several that I just wasn't enjoying all that much.
The moral of the story: I'm fantastic at starting things and never finishing them.
I am in 6 groups here on Goodreads and I love them all. My resolultion this year is to read the monthly read in every group this year. It will mean not participating in as many challenges, but that is okay, I need to widen my reading interests and I think this goal will take me out of my comfort zone. I am also going to finish the Ultimate Challenge 2015 and start the 2016 one.
Jeanette wrote: "I would love to read every unread book on my book shelf (so I can buy more)."That would mean I would have to read almost a book a day, probably not going to happen. That is if I count all the books on my Kindle.

Good luck with your goal, Carla. I don't read every monthly /quarterly group read for groups I am in as some books simply do not appeal, and I do not have others, or cannot lay hands on them in time. I do try to read as many as I can, and fit them into other challenges where possible.

I'm awful with the monthly reads in my groups, I don't know that I've ever intentionally read a single one, but I should probably get into the habit, if only to expand my horizons a bit.
I am hoping to read all of Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swenson series along with Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove and Blossom Street series. I have set my Goodreads goal at 226 books. So far I have read 5. I am a little behind.

Remember about Literary Licence when it comes to television, there were many changes, so the books are a little different.
Copy that! I know all too well. Some of the Murder, She Wrote books and TV series were different in some sense. I am not a romance reader by any stretch. But I like the series on TV for the mystery of the characters.
Thanks for the suggestion!
My goal is to read. I decided several years ago that I am only going to read what I want to read. I have tried to read some books that were recommend by reading groups and they just bogged me down. My goal is always to read 50 but last year I read 114. I stopped at the library this week and picked up a book from the display rack, I've never read this author before, came home and looked it up here and decided it goes back tomorrow. Three years ago I would have forced myself to read it. There are just too many I want to read to waste my time on something I'm not enjoying.
I have read the 1st two and started the 3rd in the Cedar Cove series and I am enjoying them Annemarie. I did not watch them as I had not read the books and really didn't want to see what happens or how different the shows would be compared to the books. I always enjoy the books so much better. As Carla stated Literary License. They are not really romances per se... more suspense, drama and thriller thrown in.

It's a good decision to make.

I mostly started to watch it because of Bruce Boxleitner (who I have always loved hahahaha) But also because I love the scenery.

Well, the first goal is going great, but I am failing miserably at the 2nd one! I am trying not to even think about how many books I have bought this year (including 8 yesterday). But I have started releasing many of them through Bookcrossing when I finish, so I guess I'm doing some good....
I love that you're doing so well on your first resolution and I have to admit, as an author, I'm glad you're stil buying books.

03/06This series was okay for me. I know a lot of people hated the characters, but I didn't mind it.
I am taking part in the Popsugar Ultimate reading Challenge, and I hope to complete it. I also hope to read more books and books in genres that I would never think of reading, usually.I only managed to read 20 books last year, I hope to beat that and read at least 30-50 this year. We will see :)
I have a ton of books to read. I go to conference, book signings, and now I'm sitting with a pile of books. I would like to have time to read more of Louis Penny's series. She reminds me of Agatha Christie.
