Susan | 6406 comments I believe I might see if I can do a little punishing of mine tonight.

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments I've started taking milk thistle to try and help mine out. Not sure how effective it is when taken with wine...

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments I still think that in 100 years medical science will learn that the liver was actually a muscle that improves the more you work it.

At least that's what I'm putting on my tombstone when I die of cirrhosis.

Susan | 6406 comments Kroger Night Time Cold and Flu. I have been in a headache infested stupor complete with the shakes for the greater half of this day. No wonder you need to show I.D. to buy the stuff.

This is a really bad flu year. Chicago's emergency rooms are full of flu patients. A bunch of hospitals have gone on bypass because all their beds are filled.

A guy that works with my BIL died on New Years Eve. He had the flu and was badly dehydrated. Bad, bad stuff.

Scary.

ms.petra (mspetra) Facebook

message 110: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Facebook is becoming more and more pointless to me. No one really communicates with anyone. Besides seeing videos of my niece and nephew, I really see no reason to log on.

message 111: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Finally, music has embraced Facebook and I can find out about bands on there. There was a huge lag between Myspace and Facebook but it seems to be rolling now. Prior to that, it only annoyed the crap out of me.

Jim | 6484 comments Kyle ~Special K: Rebel Leader~ wrote: "Posting in this group, so I've been told."

If you could keep away from the penis references or innuendo for awhile I think that all may be good, but you go on streaks where that seems to be all that you post, and it seems to wear thin. You have some good things to share so if you could make a concerted effort to stay above board I think that it would be a win win.

message 113: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments How true about the Myspace vs. Facebook lag! I was not aware bands could be found on there, now. That is a good reason to log on.

message 114: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Kyle, I think you are just being too sensitive about the whole thing. You do have some good stuff to say. I can appreciate a good innuendo or two but for it to be humorous for me, it needs to happen with less frequency and have an element of the unexpected.

Sorry about all my swears, Dubs! I will try to be better about them. I am so good around little but apparently the sensor does not travel down to the fingers.

Kyle ~Special K: Rebel Leader~ wrote: "However, being told that people dread my posts and that I post too often..."

Yeah, personally I feel this is rude.

If someone doesn't like the majority of your posts, they can always block you. Perhaps that is a better solution, better tailored to the individual, than constantly telling you you are annoying, which is a stance I find bullying, myself.

I'm sure there are many people who read posts from various different people, are either mildly or majorly annoyed by them, and then simply move on without comment.

I've been seeing an increase in bullying here in TC and I'm not a fan.

message 116: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
Perhaps you should treat members like adults, which they are, rather than 6 year olds. If making sexually suggestive or dirty or off-color posts is something mods find inappropriate, then it should be against the rules. But all this "tsk-tsking" and giving a member "a lot of rope" is treating them like a wayward child for doing things that are not actually against any rules.

Our own mod Sally has posted many penis-related comments, including pictures of penises, and she has not to my knowledge been reprimanded by mods. (Which she should not be.)

I've been called anal (by you) for various posts, but the modding of late has been extremely uptight. Maybe the mods need to relax a little, or go on vacation.

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
But people have left the group because they felt bullied. (Not referring to Kyle or Ed/Rock.) The bullying was coming from a combination of mods and non-mods.

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
Perhaps blocking me would help you there.

message 122: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Being a musician on facebook is really annoying, unfortunately, since unless you're paying to broadcast, anything you post is only seen by a fraction of the people who have clicked 'like.' When I click 'like' on a band I assume I'm going to see their posts, but that isn't the case at all.

message 123: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments They pulled a bit of a bait-and-switch. They said authors and musicians etc. should have 'pages' not regular accounts. They encouraged us to migrate people over and get people to like our pages. Then they sent out notices that not everyone who liked our pages would see our pages unless we paid for a full broadcast. There's some additional box to click if you want to see all updates from that artist, and if you don't click that box, you'll only see some smaller portion.

Do you have a FB page, Sarah? I'd love to check it out.

message 125: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Just add an "nsker" to the Pi and my music page comes up, but to be honest I haven't kept up with keeping everything on it. My .com has songs and fiction even though it needs some updating as well.

Thanks, but it was 2012 that made me decide to detox from mindless junk immediately.

My top list of tripe of 2012 is as follows:

1) Batman: TDKR
2) The Amazing Spiderman
3) The Vampire Diaries
4) How I Met Your Mother

video games is Mass Effect 3

books that I read in 2012 is The Lovely Bones

message 132: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) i'm very happy to see that someone else does not like The Vampire Diaries, even in a so-bad-it's-good kinda way. i literally cannot stand even looking at Ian Somerhalder. he upsets my stomach. that lead girl whatshername is even worse.

yeah, they completely Bellafied her (i.e. made her into Bella). Somerhalder is a pussy IMHO. There's better looking guys and actors for the matter. E.g. Jake Gyllenhaal.

message 134: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) agree, especially with the Jake Gyllenhaal part.

message 135: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Donnie Darko!

message 136: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) one of my all-time favorites! i really identify with that lead character. or at least i used to. still do? i dunno.

Me too. I've been eating too much chocolate.

message 138: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Okay, folks. Lay off the junk. It's poison, I tell ya, it's poison.

message 139: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments But it tastes so good.

Why does it taste so good?!

message 140: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Because sin is always pleasurable. Didn't you learn that in Sunday School?

message 141: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments No. I am a true heathen. I have only been to church a handful of times.

We won't discuss what I have done in church parking lots.

message 142: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
It doesn't all taste so good. Half the time I buy something that I hope will be delicious, it's deeply average. The orange cranberry scones I bought at Target are very average.

message 143: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Okay. I concede. It doesn't all taste so good. Then there are the times I overindulge and feel horrible afterward.

But most of the time it is rapture.

The only candy that has met my needs in the past month is Hershey's Cherry Cordial Kisses which are now vanished from the face of the earth. Gone, I tell you, gone. Apparently they are not part of the Valentine's Day seasonal candy array.

message 146: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I am also a heathen. Church gives me the willies. (Our Australian friends will probably comment on that. The "willies" part, I mean.)

message 147: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Yes, I have extreme issues with church. Yet, I am a somewhat spiritual person. Does that make any sense? Probably not.

We need to find those cherry cordial kisses for LG! I feel a curt and terse letter to the Hershey Corporation in the making.

message 148: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It makes perfect sense. It's all the churchy dogma that I can't stand.
