I love to write short stories, and in order to get fresh ideas sometimes I read http://www.fark.com/ and write fictionalized stories based on some of the more bizarre stories...

You should try it! ;-)

Jane Higginson | 180 comments oooh this may get me into writing again, I used to write short stories all the time when I was a teenager and often want to write now but dont seem to find time or inspiration enough lol, I started a star wars story about 6 months ago I think I managed two chapters lol

Christine (animecanuck) | 410 comments HAHA! FARK is the best. It's one of two sources I look at for news (the other is Kotaku... video game news!). A lot of my writings are based off of dreams I've had, even vaguely...

Coral (coralm) | 58 comments My short story ideas usually come from pieces of overheard conversations. For some reason, out-of-context conversation snippets really gets my brain working.

Sometimes I get ideas from things I see while on my walks. I've written a couple of cool flash fiction pieces that way.

Arturo | 14 comments Bonnie, you're a Farker too?.

Also, I find exquisite cadavers to be a good source of inspiration.
