This thread is for book related facts that may or may not be well known. Hopefully we will get a whole host of interesting information about your favorite books/ writers Sri Lankan or otherwise that will be insightful, informative and fun!

I'll start,

Although everyone makes a big deal about the length of War and Peace, it actually holds only the seventeenth place of the longest novels ever written!!!

The poet, Lakdasa Wickkramasinhe's death is still a mystery. No one's sure whether he accidentally got drowned in the pool or whether it was murder!

While writing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the development of the plot fear Robert Louis Stevenson, he paused writing at night.

The first novel in the world is The Tale of Genji a Japanese tale, means the first novel in the world is from Asia!!! :) and it's written by a WOMAN!

My sons are taking the laptop away from me! We are all tired after travelling last night, a lot of traffic :D

Since someone reopened this I too will add. Firstly, Marie your ones are completely new to me!!! What a thing! Asians rule!

Some speculate that Nikolai Gogol had been buried alive since his body was discovered lying face down in the coffin.

Emily Brontë is said to had another novel written and her sister Charlotte is said to have burnt because she thought the content was too dark to publish! Rude!

Do we only have to do 2s only per posting ?

Chami | 12 comments Well there are a lot of books have written about middle east women, that they are suffering and all that. But nothing has ever done by any one at all. I am a Buddhist but i really caring about those women.I really pity them. And i really appreciate the author Jean Sasson for writing about them even though she is an American.

No, share as much as you feel like :) Interesting finds but as for CB burning Emily's "novel", Shanez perhaps you are referring to Gondal writings? I think she did that to protect Emily and Anne (she destroyed both their works.) But you are right. I do wish all of them were there so we could've got a better idea of Emily B.
