16.) So, the Glades sure don't like to tell Greenies anything or the others for that matter. Would you be the same as Thomas always poking and pushing around for answers or like the rest, going about their everyday business letting the Runners and Keepers deal with every thing and let information trickle down?
I would probably be just as pushy, I hate questions being evaded!
17.) Thomas seems to be a pretty smart cookie. I think he wil make an excellent Runner. I am willing to bet he has a lot of prior training in survival tactics and creative thinking and he just doesn't remember...yet.
I agree... I think he wants to be a runner because he he has this strong feeling he knows how to get out of the maze.
18.) Minho made the suggestion about Thomas becoming the Runners' Keeper and then told Thomas afterwards. "Aim high, hit low." Do you think that was what Minho was really getting at or his he trying to cover up his terror and insecurities about still being the Runners' Keeper. He sounded pretty eager to give up the position.
I do think that was what Minho was getting at, he wanted to plant the seed of how sure he was that Thomas could be a runner.
19.) Ben and Gally both say they know Thomas and it isn't good. What do you think Thomas did in their past life?
I think he must be there before their memories are wiped and they are placed in the Guild.
20.) Alby speaks of "The Flare", being careful with the girl, Thomas being somebody important, guarding the maps, and then he tries to choke himself (I'm totally convinced it wasnot all his own doing though. You?). What does it all mean! I'm ready for answers!! I'm as confused as if I was in the maze myself...
I want answers too! I do not think Alby tried to choke himself, I believe it's something in the serum.
21.) What do you think of Thomas' punishment and promotion? Did you side with any of the Keepers are did you have a different idea of what should be done?
I don't think his punishment is a big deal. They want to keep order in their and this is an example to be made.
22.) If you were Thomas what would be your next course of action?
I want to figure out the cliff! Their is something really suspicious there and I feel it holds some answers.

#20- Good points. I'm adopting that view. :)
#22- I agree. She seems pretty pivotal.
@ Lisarenee- Good visuals. Lines up with my train of thought too. I keep thinking of these things from the movie, Wild Wild West. Although I see the Grievers a little more technologically advanced than these. >>> http://www.imdb.com/media/rm338707200...
@Lauren-
22- I didn't even think about the cliff. Yes, I would definitely like to know more about that too.

16.) So, the Glades sure don't like to tell Greenies anything or the others for that matter. Would you be the same as Thomas always poking and pushing around for answers or like the rest, going about their everyday business letting the Runners and Keepers deal with every thing and let information trickle down?
I would keep asking questions. There's too much going on.
17.) Thomas seems to be a pretty smart cookie. I think he wil make an excellent Runner. I am willing to bet he has a lot of prior training in survival tactics and creative thinking and he just doesn't remember...yet.
Probably. Once the Running starts, we'll find out more about him and his abilities.
Minho is sneaky. He's probably tired of being a Runner. I would be after the night in the Maze. .
19.) Ben and Gally both say they know Thomas and it isn't good. What do you think Thomas did in their past life?
Alby didn't seem scared or wary of Thomas like Ben or even Gally are. Maybe Thomas (or someone who looks an awful lot like him) was the one who put them in there.
I don't think he choked himself. Something weird is going on and I really hope I won't have to wait to find out about it in the other 2 books in this series. It is only a trilogy, right?
21.) What do you think of Thomas' punishment and promotion? Did you side with any of the Keepers are did you have a different idea of what should be done?
I was surprised his punishment was as lenient as it was. He did break the first rule. I'm not surprised he was upped to a Runner. We all knew that would happen.
22.) If you were Thomas what would be your next course of action?
Bug the crap out of Newt and Minho until they answer some questions.

8) Now Thomas states, "She did seem familiar", and "what if all of them were sentenced to live here until they died."
Could the two have volunteered or are they and everyone else being punished?
I don't know if it's a punishment or not, but I don't think anyone volunteered. I think there's something weird about Thomas and the girl, but I don't know what yet.
9) We now know what jobs can be had in the Glade...Builders, Sloppers, Baggers, Cooks, Maps makers, Med-Jacks, Trak-Hoes, Blood Housers, & Runners. Which would you pick if you had to?
Map Makers. You get to use your brain to help solve the puzzle but you don't have to do the dirty work the runners do. That or a cook. I think I could get used to that after awhile.
10) What did you think of the boy being sliced in two? Do you think it's true or just something someone staged so no one else would try to escape? Could it have happened prior to those 2 years the oldest one has been there?
I think the Glade came with a started graveyard including that box. Something to scare the kids from trying to go down the shaft where the box is.
11) What do you think of Ben and his freaky statement, "He's not one of us!" Ben shouted. I saw him--he's...he's bad. We have to kill him! Let me gut him!" Could we have traces of 'Total Recall', the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie? I'm liking Parvathy's theory more and more.
I still think Thomas has been to the maze before but I'm not sure how or why he would be coming back. Maybe they have a way of altering the boys memories while they're in the glade so they don't remember Thomas but the Changing somehow brings that part back? I don't know. Remember what his face, the bully, said he say Thomas during the Changing as well.
12) So basically they sentenced Ben to death. Do you think they did what they had to do or do you think they were too harsh? Could the changing have affected him?
I think Ben was getting better and they could have waited it out. Banishment was a bit extreme. Then again, the way Thomas described the look of Ben in those last seconds before the door shut was pretty scary. Maybe the pleas for help were all an act.
13) What do you make of the ever changing maze? It reminds me a little of
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
Never read it. I wonder if there is a pattern to the changes. There has to be something that stays similar for the runners to be able to find their way or the map makers to ever make progress. Maybe it's on a rotation, every x amount of days it goes back to the first configuration and repeats the process.
14) Do you think Newt will cause trouble later on? He seemed unfriendly in a strange way to me.
I think Newt is just doing his best to cope as leader of such a strange place. He's under a lot of stress with all the things that have been changing and the possible loss of two of his friends. I think Newt is next in line to be the true leader and he doesn't know how to process everything that's happened.
15) Okay, I swear I didn't plan it this way, but again another awesome place to stop making you want to read on. lol "The walls slammed shut behind him, the echo of its boom bouncing off the ivy-covered stone like mad laughter." Would you have gone in?
That was a great sentence that's for sure. Such a great way to describe him heading to his doom. I wish that he had gone sooner so that he may have had a chance to get back through or have been helpful. Although maybe all these "memories" and "feelings" he's been having about the maze will end up helping all three of them get back to safety. Or maybe they'll make a break through about the maze. Maybe during the day the interior doors open, but at night the exterior doors open. Maybe the grievers are on the outside and that's why they come in at night!

I had thought something similar to this but was thrown off by the fact that Minho said he was one of the original gladers.
"Ben kept screaming "He'll wanna take us home. He'll wanna get us out of the Maze. Better we all jump off the Cliff." I don't know why Ben is so scared with the prospect of going home. I thought everyone wanted to get out of the maze." ~ Parvathy
That's a really good point! I didn't think much about what he was screaming. Maybe going through the Changing gave him memories and the world they come from is even worse?

16.) So, the Glades sure don't like to tell Greenies anything or the others for that matter. Would you be the same as Thomas always poking and pushing around for answers or like the rest, going about their everyday business letting the Runners and Keepers deal with every thing and let information trickle down?
I've always been the type that has to know what's going on so I'm sure I'd ask a million questions and be frustrated when I wasn't getting answers. Just reading the book I get as frustrated as Thomas sometimes.
17.) Thomas seems to be a pretty smart cookie. I think he wil make an excellent Runner. I am willing to bet he has a lot of prior training in survival tactics and creative thinking and he just doesn't remember...yet.
I think he knows the maze somewhere in his memory which is why he had no trouble remembering the way back after running around like a crazy man. He does seem smart, but I think there's more to it then just that.
I think Minho is a bit embarrassed about he acted in the maze. He had been there two years and knew the maze better then anyone else, yet he freaked out and ran away leaving the other kids to die. Obviously Thomas can think better under pressure. While I don't think Minho really wanted to give up his spot, I think he truly believed that Thomas was better suited for the job.
19.) Ben and Gally both say they know Thomas and it isn't good. What do you think Thomas did in their past life?
I've exhausted my brain trying to figure it out. Wish they'd just tell us already. But what was up with Alby trying to kill himself when he tried to explain? I wonder if the creators get more control over the kids once they go through the changing.
I definitely want to know what the Flare is. I wonder if they'll reconsider Thomas as a runner to protect the maps since runners (I assume) would be near them.
21.) What do you think of Thomas' punishment and promotion? Did you side with any of the Keepers are did you have a different idea of what should be done?
I agree that in order to keep "order" Thomas needed some sort of punishment. I'm glad it isn't too bad of one. I'm glad he's becoming a runner, although it seemed the obvious progression of the story. I'm interested to see more about the process of running/mapping.
22.) If you were Thomas what would be your next course of action?
No idea. There is too much going on around Thomas to even comprehend it all. I think he needs to see about getting answers out of Alby or maybe even try to help the girl. Maybe he'll find a trick to reviving her that the Med-Jacks didn't. Or maybe he can make sense of her crazy ramblings.
P.S. - I want to know how bad the world outside the maze really is. Both Ben and Alby have talked about home being bad now. What could be so bad that they would like to stay in the glade?

I concur! I'd like to see them try not giving someone the serum. Although, Alby did seem pretty bad before he got it. I think it's scarier to try not giving it to him and see him die then to just give it to him and know that he will live.

9) We now know what jobs can be had in the Glade...Builders, Sloppers, Baggers, Cooks, Maps makers, Med-Jacks, Trak-Hoes, Blood Housers, & Runners. Which would you pick if you had to?
I think I would pick the Trak-Hoes. I like gardening and messing around outside. I think that would be an ok job to have.
15) Okay, I swear I didn't plan it this way, but again another awesome place to stop making you want to read on. lol "The walls slammed shut behind him, the echo of its boom bouncing off the ivy-covered stone like mad laughter." Would you have gone in?
I would like to say that I would have went in, but chances are, I probably would be too much of a chicken.

23) As a last resort, Newt suggests that they get Tom stung so his memories can come back. Good idea?
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
28) Chuck and Tom have a heart to heart about parents. Could parents have been killed off? Perhaps only children survived some awful catastrophe? Tom keeps saying why would adults do this to kids. What if they didn't? Just throwing out possibilities. Do you have any wild or crazy thoughts?
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says he doesn't think he's evil?
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa states,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?

23) As a last resort, Newt suggests that the get Tom stung so his memories come back. Good idea?
Maybe. If Thomas is willing to deal with all that pain.
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
Possibly. Either that or they had a relationship before the Glade. I've learned to expect a little romance in these books - it would be nice if they were twins instead.
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
It's hard to wrap my head around a teenager being able to set all this stuff up. Set something into motion, maybe, but not creating the Glade. Unless it is a computer thing, but I don't think it is.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
No idea. Maybe testing how effecient the Grievers are at killing. Or even the Serum.
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Gally. He's hiding somewhere. Or maybe he's off in the maze to get stung so he can remember more about Thomas.
I have plenty of crazy thoughts. Most don't make sense.
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says doesn't tink he's evil?
No clue. I really want to find out though.
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
One of my crazy thoughts was that someone was controlling the Grievers, like a remote control drone thing. Like someone needed a potty break or something. Or going along with the whole testing theory, it was playing possum.
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa state,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?
All Hell is about to break loose.

23) As a last resort, Newt suggests that they get Tom stung so his memories can come back. Good idea?
Yes and no. It would be good for Thomas to get his memories back, but I don't think the plan would work. I think the creators would intervene in some way just as they did with Alby trying to talk about it.
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
I don't think twins, but there is definitely something strange. Maybe in the "real world" everyone can talk with their minds but the gladers have forgotten how or had it shut off due to the memory wipe.
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
I don't know, but I'm eager to find out.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
My guess is that the world asploded as this was some sort of experiment to fix it or change it or do something about it
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
Maybe he found the magical way out, or the creators pulled him out because he was saying too much, or he's simply being hidden somewhere by his friends. Who really knows.
It's very plausible that kids did this to other kids seeing as how Thomas seems to be a part of it. There's been so little talk about the "outside" that I really don't know what to think of it at the moment.
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says he doesn't think he's evil?
My guess is that the glade is like heaven in comparison to the "outside" and therefore what Thomas helped create is a blessing not a curse. Maybe the maze is just something to occupy the mind of the kids, give them hope, but really there is no exit.
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
It probably didn't make it back in time for the door opening and therefore had to power down where it stood. Or maybe it broke itself somehow and couldn't get back, hence the acting weird that Minho described. I think the cliff is where the grievers go to charge and that's why they seemed to disappear when they ran off it instead of dropping and why the griever they saw during the day ran to the cliff. The cliff is probably the key to getting out.
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa states,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?
The glade is shutting down?

16.) So, the Glades sure don't like to tell Greenies anything or the others for that matter. Would you be the same as Thomas always poking and pushing around for answers or like the rest, going about their everyday business letting the Runners and Keepers deal with every thing and let information trickle down?
I definitely would be like Thomas asking questions. Trying to get more info. Even reading about the situation is frustrating
17.) Thomas seems to be a pretty smart cookie. I think he wil make an excellent Runner. I am willing to bet he has a lot of prior training in survival tactics and creative thinking and he just doesn't remember...yet.
He is having deja vu most of the time and seem to be managing well on his own. Title itself suggest that being a maze runner is pivotal.
May be he had seen and done enough. But I think the reason that he made such a suggestion was may be guilt. After all he did leave Alby behind when he ran from the Grievers and it was Thomas who saved him.
19.) Ben and Gally both say they know Thomas and it isn't good. What do you think Thomas did in their past life?
It may be more of a memory associated with the Glade and how they came to be there. May be Glade isn't such a bad thing.
20.) Alby speaks of "The Flare", being careful with the girl, Thomas being somebody important, guarding the maps, and then he tries to choke himself (I'm totally convinced it was not all his own doing though. You?). What does it all mean! I'm ready for answers!! I'm as confused as if I was in the maze myself...
Totally confusing. Something Jex said about the real world being worse than the Glade because Ben was terrified of going out of the maze. What if the Glade was set up to protect them. Just because of their loss of memory they are trying to get out. The food supplies medicine etc don't make sense. Maybe glade is some kind of a training ground.
21.) What do you think of Thomas' punishment and promotion? Did you side with any of the Keepers are did you have a different idea of what should be done?
Punishment was necessary he did break the rules. I am just glad it is a small one. When they talked about the rule as being the most important of all the rules which made me think banishment was one of the punishments. Really glad that didn't happen.
22.) If you were Thomas what would be your next course of action?
Don't know. May be become a runner and try to find out more about the girl and the maze.

In theory I think it is a good idea but if the creators can control with the Serum(like Alby) I'm not sure that would really work.
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
I had initially thought that when she first arrived and Thomas could not stop thinking about her but now I'm not so sure. I think the others may have noticed some similarities, even if they are fraternal. I think they have some sort of close connection though.
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
I have been thinking about that for the last little while. Are children really capable of this? I'm even more confused now.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
I did not even put the connection together from the beetle blades to the writing on the wall until I read this question, I clearly must not have been paying attention!!! lol. I feel that the world is maybe in a post apocalyptic state and this is something to do with it? I'm not sure anymore....
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
I don't have any ideas about Gally but I'm almost sure he is still alive.
I am so confused the more I read it seems so I don't have any ideas... I'm eager to read more now!
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says he doesn't think he's evil?
I think maybe Tom did this for good but it ended up being evil so that's why he is here?
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
I don't know about these Grievers... they seem really suspicious to me.
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa states,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?
I think the Glade is going to start to shut down and they need to get out NOW!

23) As a last resort, Newt suggests that they get Tom stung so his memories can come back. Good idea?
That would be a good idea. There is always the serum so there won't be much problem. Also even if couldn't talk he still would no something. I think Thomas is much better with his memories than others in the Glade
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
It is possible.
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
I am still getting the feeling that the Glade was not meant to punish but to protect with a kind of whole Resident Evil world out there.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
Wow!!! didn't make the connection till I read this question. So WICKED can be the name of the experiment training the kids to survive. Survival of the fittest kind of thing
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
I am with Chuck's theory that he is hiding out in the maze.
Kids doing this to kids!!!!. Not to mention a new one every month for the past two years. I don't think kids are capable of this without adult help. Is it just me or do these kids feel like lab rats. There may be a few adults out there controlling the operation in the name of greater good or something
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says he doesn't think he's evil?
Still the greater good theory
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
A glitch in its programming
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa states,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?
I agree with Lauren on this one I think the Glade is shutting down.

32.) So we made it through the first night in the Homestead. Were you expecting the first night to be better or worse?
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?

P.S. - this reminds me of a TV social experiment called Kid Nation where they let kids run an old western town with no adults. Awesome show.

23) As a last resort, Newt suggests that they get Tom stung so his memories can come back. Good idea?
Excellent idea, though I doubt the stinging is necessary. Just give him the serum and see what they discover.
24) Teresa can talk to Thomas via their minds. Could they be twins?
I hadn't considered they might be twins, that could very well be. Or perhaps whatever happened with their memories linked them in some way before they got to the Glade.
25) Teresa said, "it was you and me, Tom. We did this them. To us.... The plot thickens. What did they do? If Tom truly is 16 he would have been 14 when everything started.
I don't think I believe he was a creator yet. But perhaps if this is a show, they are the ones who succeeded and got out and that prompted them to continue the show. Maybe she meant something like that.
26) So we noticed wicked written on the Beetle blades. Now we know that it stands for:
World
In
Catastrophe
Kill
Experiment
Department
What do you make of that? What could they possibly be testing?
Maybe they are testing possible ways to protect the rest of society. See if things can be contained inside a dome, which the Glade may be, and see how much can "leak in". Dunno, gonna have to think more on it.
27) What could have happened to Gally? He just sort of disappeared? He was last seen entering the maze. Do you he was killed or is in hiding?
I think we'll see him again. I just have a feeling that he will be important later.
Maybe they were put there to protect them. Maybe whatever catastrophe they referred to only affects kids, so they locked them away to protect them.
29) Alby states, "Greenie, you ain't evil. You might be a shuck-faced slinthead, but you ain't evil." Could whatever Tom did be that bad if Alby says he doesn't think he's evil?
Evil is an interesting term. Since he doesn't remember anything he did or didn't do then it would be fair to call him evil at this point. But in the past he might have been.
30) What do you make of the Griever they thought was dead? Did it recharge?
I keep getting the feeling that the Grievers are a clue of some kind. If they could somehow manage their fear of them it might give them the answer they need.
31) Before Tom goes to sleep, Teresa states,"I just triggered the Ending." WHAT?????? What do you make of the sun not shining the next morning? Any ideas as to what is happening?
The very first thing that popped into my head is, this is the finale. If we think that the Glade is a TV show, this could be the end of the season, the finale. It would also explain how Tom could have been in the Glade before, yet not know anyone who is there now...he was in a different season.

32.) So we made it through the first night in the Homestead. Were you expecting the first night to be better or worse?
I was actually expecting it to be far worse, I thought they made out pretty well considering.
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
I thought it was really strange.. very suspicious.
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
I think it was Alby but not Alby. It seems like something has control over Alby so it was Alby technically that burned the map room but it was someone behind the scenes being the controls.
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
Haha, that's what I thought!
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
I'm not sure about that either...
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
I had actually forgotten about Alby's warning about the maps until they said they hid them!
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?
I'm not sure, this book has my mind spinning constantly so I'm really sure what to make of anything!

32.) So we made it through the first night in the Homestead. Were you expecting the first night to be better or worse?
Worse.
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
Same. I figured he had something bad planned.
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
I bet it was Gally. Or maybe Ben, if he's not dead.
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
Maybe it really is good.
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
He was freaking out a bit, but yeah, I agree.
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
Indeed.
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?
No idea. Flare?

32.) So we made it through the first night in the Homestead. Were you expecting the first night to be better or worse?
I think it was about on par with how I was thinking. I figured someone would die and people would over react, which happened. I also totally called the maps being ruined, although I though Alby was going to be the one to do it. As soon as he said he'd get started I thought "he's off to ruin the maps" because why would someone that doesn't want to get home help find a way out?
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
As I stated above, something was definitely up with him. He was way too eager.
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
I think Alby burned the maps and then tripped and smacked his head on the table. Either that or someone saw him and tried to stop him. Although I have no idea who else it could have been. Gally seems too obvious, and we presume everyone else was in the homestead at the time. Also, if the whole place was boarded up so tight, how did Gally get in?
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
definitely
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
He was in a hurry to tell Newt and Minho about the code
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
I was happy to hear that. I wasn't expecting it at all. I figured they would have thought them to be safe in their little dungeon room.
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?
I cheated. I read the next chapter and got the first two words. Now I'm dying for the rest!

I thought it would be better. I wasn't expecting anything to happen that night.
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
Yes, It was awkward. That too the map room all of a sudden.
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
At first I thought it was Alby and then he was found attacked. It could be Gally but I am of the opinion that both of them were in on it. Since both of them underwent changing they are more able to understand each other and they both staged the whole thing.
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
True
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
I was really angry at Thomas for running away at that crucial time. He would have gotten a little bit more information. Maybe he was just scared of finding out.
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
Yes, I didn't think they would have saved the originals. That would have been a huge set back.
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?
Frankly, No idea. Just have to keep reading ahead

32.) So we made it through the first night in the Homestead. Were you expecting the first night to be better or worse?
I'm not sure what I expected, I knew that it would likely not be a slaughter because the Creators probably want at least a few to live. It was rather terrifying for the Gladers and that was the point and made the point I think.
33.) I thought it was awkward the way Alby suddenly decided to go to the Map Room after being in such a stupor. (This got me thinking about this next question...
That was odd, his mood swings definitely have gotten out of control since the Serum.
34.) Who burned the Map Room? Gally? Alby? Was there a scuffle between the two of them? Do you think it could be someone else altogether?
Obviously Alby is the prime suspect, he was in there after all. But Gally would make sense too.
35.) " Wicked is good." Complete oxymoron if I've ever seen one!
I'm not sure what it means yet, but I feel like its important.
36.) Why did Thomas keep running from Theresa when she said she needed to tell him something? I know someone in your head is scary and all but you could have been way ahead of the game by now.
I don't think he wanted to face it. He wanted to live in the Glade of the past 2 years, not have to deal with all this change and everything else.
37.) They hid the maps! Clever!
That surprised me. I remember that Alby said to protect the maps, but I didn't know they took him that seriously.
38.) We have a letter, "F". What are your theories about the hidden message? What do you think it will say?
Well I read today's reading before I did this, so now I know lol. But at the time I figured it had to be the code. I had no idea what they'd use it for but a code all the same.

Finally some answers!
39) Were you surprised when Tom decided to get pricked by the Grievers to get his memory back?
40) So the walls aren't moving, we've got several codes, and a potential way out. Do you think they should trust Thomas?
41) Why can Tom talk without getting choked? Could his telepathy be blocking whatever it is they do or is it just time for things to be revealed?
42) What do you make of the whole experiment? Kids being kidnapped and raised to be part of an experiment? Why do they have to kill them or are they?
43) Could it all be an elaborate video game? A simulator?
44) I think we all probably figured they had to go through the Griever hole. What do you think they'll find?
45) How do you think they forced Tom and Teresa to help create the maze?
46) Who do you think Teresa was named after?
47) Is Alby going to cause trouble? He's been acting weird.
48) Is anyone besides me surprised people would want to stay put?
49)We're still not sure what Wicked truly is. Any ideas?
World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department
Could there be some upcoming catastrophe that only a limited number can survive and they're looking to see who could survive confined for a long period of time so they know who to send? If that is the case, however, I guess there should have been more females unless they didn't want to have any families starting??? I'm at a loss.

39) Were you surprised when Tom decided to get pricked by the Grievers to get his memory back?
Not at all.
40) So the walls aren't moving, we've got several codes, and a potential way out. Do you think they should trust Thomas?
Why not? They don't have any other ideas.
41) Why can Tom talk without getting choked? Could his telepathy be blocking whatever it is they do or is it just time for things to be revealed?
They probably didn't plan on Tom getting stung, so they didn't add that choking feature to his memory wipe.
42) What do you make of the whole experiment? Kids being kidnapped and raised to be part of an experiment? Why do they have to kill them or are they?
I don't know what to think about the experiment. I don't think they are all dead though.
43) Could it all be an elaborate video game? A simulator?
Maybe a simulator, but I doubt it.
44) I think we all probably figured they had to go through the Griever hole. What do you think they'll find?
A control room?
45) How do you think they forced Tom and Teresa to help create the maze?
Threatened to kill their family or each other.
46) Who do you think Teresa was named after?
I can't think of any scientists/geniuses named Theresa. Maybe it's her real name.
47) Is Alby going to cause trouble? He's been acting weird.
Maybe.
48) Is anyone besides me surprised people would want to stay put?
Not really. They are terrified of the Greivers.
49)We're still not sure what Wicked truly is. Any ideas?
World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department

Maybe they kept the females separate to see if each gender could survive alone - and then have controlled breeding where they control which people have children and how many they have. Limited space means limited population.
I have a feeling that I'll be visiting the library tomorrow to pick up the next book.

No, I was hoping for such an outcome.
40) So the walls aren't moving, we've got several codes, and a potential way out. Do you think they should trust Thomas?
Why not? They are in a bad situation anyway. Why not die trying?
41) Why can Tom talk without getting choked? Could his telepathy be blocking whatever it is they do or is it just time for things to be revealed?
I think his telepathy is blocking the whole thing. Even if he couldn't speak he could communicate using his mind. So Wha's the point in choking him?
42) What do you make of the whole experiment? Kids being kidnapped and raised to be part of an experiment? Why do they have to kill them or are they?
I think it is kind of a survival of the fittest kind of experiment as I said earlier.
43) Could it all be an elaborate video game? A simulator?
It could be a simulator
44) I think we all probably figured they had to go through the Griever hole. What do you think they'll find?
A Griever repair center.
45) How do you think they forced Tom and Teresa to help create the maze?
May be by convincing them that the maze is for the greater good. Which I doubt. But all elements point that way. Remember "WICKED IS GOOD"
46) Who do you think Teresa was named after?
Only Mother Teresa is coming to my mind but I don't know how it fits here.
47) Is Alby going to cause trouble? He's been acting weird.
Don't know only time will tell
48) Is anyone besides me surprised people would want to stay put?
Yes, a little. I think freedom is way better than safety
49)We're still not sure what Wicked truly is. Any ideas?
World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department

I think they are looking for someone to stop the catastrophe. I am still not sure about why Teresa was sent. May be her only purpose was to be a trigger.

39) Were you surprised when Tom decided to get pricked by the Grievers to get his memory back?
Yes and no. It makes sense and he seems brave enough.
40) So the walls aren't moving, we've got several codes, and a potential way out. Do you think they should trust Thomas?
Of course. He's done nothing but help them thus far.
41) Why can Tom talk without getting choked? Could his telepathy be blocking whatever it is they do or is it just time for things to be revealed?
I have a feeling that his telepathy keeps him from being controlled.
42) What do you make of the whole experiment? Kids being kidnapped and raised to be part of an experiment? Why do they have to kill them or are they?
They need the best and strongest. Those that die or give up weren't strong enough and thus aren't needed. It sounds cruel, but maybe the world is bad enough to make them think this was the only option.
43) Could it all be an elaborate video game? A simulator?
I cheated and finished the book.
44) I think we all probably figured they had to go through the Griever hole. What do you think they'll find?
A giant clown! Again I cheated.
45) How do you think they forced Tom and Teresa to help create the maze?
Maybe threatened them? Or said they could either help or go in themselves?
46) Who do you think Teresa was named after?
Mother Teresa. It's the only Teresa I can think of. It even has that strange spelling like this one. At least I think it's strange.
47) Is Alby going to cause trouble? He's been acting weird.
Always and forever. Actually I don't remember where this section leaves off so I don't want to answer.
48) Is anyone besides me surprised people would want to stay put?
Not really. There are always going to be those that are either not brave enough to follow what's right or truly believe it's not the right answer and therefore won't follow.
49)We're still not sure what Wicked truly is. Any ideas?
World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department

Maybe all the females stayed in the real world to help repopulate? Maybe they didn't want the distraction of having both sexes. Just look at how they acted when Teresa showed up.

39) Were you surprised when Tom decided to get pricked by the Grievers to get his memory back?
Not a bit, though I was really hoping the Serum didn't require being stung. But it doesn't look like its going that way.
40) So the walls aren't moving, we've got several codes, and a potential way out. Do you think they should trust Thomas?
I think so. Even if he did something terrible before the Glade, he's in the same boat as them now so there's no reason not to trust him now.
41) Why can Tom talk without getting choked? Could his telepathy be blocking whatever it is they do or is it just time for things to be revealed?
I think they want the Gladers to know the answer. It's time for this to come to an end so they need answers to do it.
42) What do you make of the whole experiment? Kids being kidnapped and raised to be part of an experiment? Why do they have to kill them or are they?
I think them dying is just part of the experiment. They want only the best and brightest, and survival of the fittest seems to be coming into play.
43) Could it all be an elaborate video game? A simulator?
I have finished the book so I will not comment.
44) I think we all probably figured they had to go through the Griever hole. What do you think they'll find?
I was rather disappointed by that. It doesn't seem like a very creative solution and makes me wonder how smart these kids can be if they hadn't thought to follow the Grievers for 2 years lol.
45) How do you think they forced Tom and Teresa to help create the maze?
Maybe they didn't force them. Maybe they just misled them about its purpose.
46) Who do you think Teresa was named after?
I was thinking Mother Teresa too, I am not aware of any notorious geniuses that are female or named Teresa.
47) Is Alby going to cause trouble? He's been acting weird.
Very weird, but I already know what happens so I won't spoil it.
48) Is anyone besides me surprised people would want to stay put?
Not a bit. The devil you know is less scary than the devil you don't.
49)We're still not sure what Wicked truly is. Any ideas?
World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department

If that is the case, however, I guess there should have been more females unless they didn't want to have any families starting??? I'm at a loss.
I think it was mostly that they didn't want the distraction, they wanted the kids focused on that task at hand. Perhaps there is a similar "experiment" for the girls? Perhaps there are just more males that are the strongest and smartest, though that sounds incredibly sexist lol.

50) Gah! It's not over. Was there another group or are they group B?
51) What do you think happened to those left behind? Will they be included in the next set of testing?
52) So can what they were told by their supposed rescuers be trusted?
51) What the heck happened to Gally?
52) Why did Chuck have to die? It sounded like it was a test.
53) Why do they need leaders?
54) Will you read the sequel? Anyone interested in a buddy read? I'm not reading Saving Francesca because I read it a while ago, so....
55) Overall opinion on the book? What did you like and what didn't you?
56) Do you think WICKED is good?

50) Gah! It's not over. Was there another group or are they group B?
I'm not sure. Still a little confused! Maybe Group B are the females?
51) What do you think happened to those left behind? Will they be included in the next set of testing?
It wouldn't surprise me if they either died from Grievers or if the Creators killed them.
52) So can what they were told by their supposed rescuers be trusted?
About what happened to the outside world, I think so. Everything else, who knows?
51) What the heck happened to Gally?
The mind control taken to the next level.
52) Why did Chuck have to die? It sounded like it was a test.
To demonstrate the hold they had on Gally - the hold they could potentially have on any of them. Just bad luck that it was Chuck that got in the way.
53) Why do they need leaders?
They won't live forever - need the next generation to be prepared.
54) Will you read the sequel? Anyone interested in a buddy read? I'm not reading Saving Francesca because I read it a while ago, so....
I already picked it up from the library! I can save it for a buddy read.
55) Overall opinion on the book? What did you like and what didn't you?
I liked it. Loved that romance wasn't really much of an issue. It's getting old reading YA books that revolve around a romance. Maybe I'm just burnt out on romances.
56) Do you think WICKED is good?
Maybe. I'll have to read more. From what's been said, it seems like they are trying to fight the sickness and save the human race. But to take children and throw them in a place like the Glade? Seems a bit extreme.

50) Gah! It's not over. Was there another group or are they group B?
Perhaps Group A was the original group Thomas and Teresa were in? Then they helped design the maze and the glad for group B?
51) What do you think happened to those left behind? Will they be included in the next set of testing?
Since they made it clear they only want the best, I wouldn't be surprised if they just left them for the Grievers.
52) So can what they were told by their supposed rescuers be trusted?
I wanted soooo badly to say yes, until the Epilogue ruined it all.
51) What the heck happened to Gally?
I think he had a few screws loose to begin with.
52) Why did Chuck have to die? It sounded like it was a test.
I think he had to die because Dashner wanted to obliterate the most interesting character in the book lol.
53) Why do they need leaders?
They need to teach others along the way I suppose.
54) Will you read the sequel? Anyone interested in a buddy read? I'm not reading Saving Francesca because I read it a while ago, so....
I am torn on it...the ending flopped it so badly for me that I'm kinda torn on whether to read it or not.
55) Overall opinion on the book? What did you like and what didn't you?
I liked Thomas, I thought he was intelligent, witty, funny, and very creative. I really liked Chuck, most of the other Gladers annoyed me but he was a fantastic addition I hated the Epilogue, it ruined the entire ending for me...that revelation should have been saved for the sequel. And the ending was just generally confusing to me, I had to read it twice to figure out what was going on.
56) Do you think WICKED is good?
I think they believe they are good. But they are willing to sacrifice the few for the benefit of the many, and that is how a lot of evil things in human history have started so I'm going to say no.

I think there is another group who is undergoing the maze trial at the same time.
51) What do you think happened to those left behind? Will they be included in the next set of testing?
Frankly, I feel they are going to be left for the grievers.
52) So can what they were told by their supposed rescuers be trusted?
I guess they could be trusted. Atleast they didn't try to kill them in the name of greater good
51) What the heck happened to Gally?
Under some kind of mind control
52) Why did Chuck have to die? It sounded like it was a test.
I am still not sure what they were trying to prove by killing Chuck. The only possible explanation I can think of is that they wanted to see whether Thomas was leader material that is whether the people who follow him are willing to die for him.
53) Why do they need leaders?
They talk about Solar Flare and the new situation of the world. May be they sent the people who doesn't give up on a mission to save the world or something.
54) Will you read the sequel? Anyone interested in a buddy read? I'm not reading Saving Francesca because I read it a while ago, so....
I will read the sequel because this one left me confused and wanting more answers. I am interested in a buddy read I already have the second book.
55) Overall opinion on the book? What did you like and what didn't you?
With a fast paced narrative and compelling story the Maze Runner keeps you hooked till the very last page. I found it very difficult to stop where I had to stop and there after waited for the next time I would get to read the rest. Not to mention coming up with crazy theories in between. I gave the book an overall 3 star. The only reason that I have reduced two stars for such entertaining read is because it left me with more questions than answers and that was a slight drawback. I liked the overall concept and mystery and hated the epilogue.
56) Do you think WICKED is good?
I think WICKED suffers from the "greater good" syndrome. Collateral Damage kind of thing, which makes it bad. But you can't say for sure unless you get the whole picture

I think they are group A and the creators are going to test more "variables" with another group.
51) What do you think happened to those left behind? Will they be included in the next set of testing?
I feel they are going to be left for dead, or they may put another group in their with them?
52) So can what they were told by their supposed rescuers be trusted?
I'm not sure, I thought so at first and then I read the Epilogue.
51) What the heck happened to Gally?
Mind control!
52) Why did Chuck have to die? It sounded like it was a test.
I'm not sure why he had to die, but I was fighting back tears on the train to work :(
53) Why do they need leaders?
The creators can't live forever and I think they feel they will brainwash them into believing what they say.
54) Will you read the sequel? Anyone interested in a buddy read? I'm not reading Saving Francesca because I read it a while ago, so....
I'll be reading the sequel for sure, but probably not until closer to the end of June. I have alot of other books on my to read list for June.
55) Overall opinion on the book? What did you like and what didn't you?
I really enjoyed the book; I was surprised though because normally by favorite books tend to have female protagonists. I loved how it was fast paced-this easily could have been a book I finish in a day because it was very easy to read and kept you wanting more every page. I hated that Chuck died that was the worst for me.
56) Do you think WICKED is good?
I agree that it seems they suffer from the "greater good" syndrome. It's hard to say though...have to wait until the sequel!

From what I can gather from those who have read The Kill Order, it would be better to start with The Maze Runner. The Kill Order might just ruin the other books for you. It has some spoilers in it. I think it's the mystery behind the books that makes them such a fun read.

If memory serves, I think Kim L(?) is also looking to start this series from the beginning.
If this one is ran again, I'd like to join. Heard so much about this saga and never got around starting it. Having someone to read along would make it much more interesting.

When do you guys want to start?
Uhm, I don't know about Cathie and Laura. I don't have the book on hand. Might need till next week?
