The names in Hunger Games are SO PERFECT! I mean, Katniss means "belonging to an arrow" in Latin (okay, that's not obvious unless you look it up). Umm, HELLO? Katniss also sounds good because it's a (fictional) plant and Katniss was pretty good with plants. Some people debate about the flow of the name, but I think it sounds fine. Sly and intelligent yet gentle because of the "iss" at the end (at least, in my opinion, as this may sound weird to everyone else). If you try saying it out loud ten thousand times, you MAYBE will see what I mean. The real Seneca Crane was a Roman statesman, philosopher, and playwright. It sounds fitting to me for the Hunger Games series. Reminds me of the Roman gladiators, which is what the Hunger Games are like--Roman gladiator games. Peeta sounds good because it sounds kind and innocent (like him, at first) and also like the "pita" in pita bread, which is nice since he was a baker. Finnick I like as well. Sounds rambunctious, like Finnick himself. When I as the reader first met Finnick, he seemed kind of, well, finicky-- just like (or maybe because of) his name! Gale sounds like the right name to me-- gale is like a strong wind, right? So Gale is like wind. I like that, because of the way he spends time hunting in the forest. I don't know.... does anyone else think it fits him?
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST FINISH THE FIRST BOOK TO READ THE FOLLOWING!!!!!!!!
I love the name Rue because it sounds sweet and young and also melancholy, which is how I feel when I think of her death.
