How do you pronounce "Tobias"??

My point there was that there are different languages and people tend to pronounce it in their first language. If someone corrected you, then they're probably telling you the pronunciation in other language.

Tobias is a biblical name, so there really is only one way of saying it.
And so all I'm saying is, regardless of where you're from, if you were still to pronounce it like Toe-BEE-us, I will more than likely laugh.
Then again, if you didn't get the point, I'd probably just put it down to ignorance.
That being said - if the odd person did tell me that they pronounced their name like Toe-BEE-us. Then I would kindly call him by the name that he was raised with. Unless he stated otherwise. So in that sense, I DO understand what you're saying.

I speak spanish and that's a normal name here and it's pronounced like toh-be-us. If you want to listen it, just put "Tobias" on the google translator from English to Spanish and listen to the spanish way :)

One of my students asked me this. I always pronounced it toe-bee-is. I looked up the pronunciation and it is indeed toe-bye-us. I was proven wrong by my 8th grader...love it :)
Well my friends say its supposed to be toh-bye-us but I personally pronounce it toh-bee-ass! Lol i like my version better :)
"To-bee-us" is not an "American pronunciation" and it's NOT more commonly said "To-bee-us" unless those common people don't know how to read/speak. The name is "Toe-bye-us." It's sort of a standard name with a standard pronunciation, like "John." Not a lot of debate.This whole thread makes me laugh.
I say "Toe-bye-us". I have a friend with the same name and that's how he pronounces it.

personally when i am not reading the book i refer to him as four it's just easier for me
